Omoh, this contest too make sense, i wan congratulate the entire Nigerian community, especially Mia Chloe, you really shine better light on our local section. See as big men run enter kitchen, lol, even me wey no too sabi cook, i still gats show my little culinary skills wey i don learn from all my gf's over the years, lol; everybody really try, whether you end up as winner or not, as long as you get entry, you do well.

Thanks for your compliment and contributions to the contest. Everyone really did great. The entries we great. Nevertheless I think this is the very first cooking contest on the local board and the whole forum at large. It's a good thing we have our board as the first to have a contest like this.

The turn up in this contest was really massive this year and i want to commend the host and some others who spice up the contest, gradually our local board is becoming a center of attraction in the forum and i hope this initiative continues in the future. E really make sense as all of us cooperate very well for this contest, though e no really dey easy for some of us wey go extra mile to spend money carry buy things to cook so that we fit partake for the contest and also make the food them become delicious even though we no fit taste each and everyone's dish to know whether e dey delicious as e look for the uploads but anyhow e be sha, winners will emerge just like the ones dem wey been happen for general board like the pizza competition and the pie baking contests because even though no body tasted them but winners still emerged.

I was so sad to see that i didn't qualify to take part during the first edition contest because of the conditions attached on it but i believe on what i can do when it comes in cooking aspect and also believe that, this second edition i will surely take part on it

Honestly I don't think reopening the thread was ideal because anyone that took the competition serious from the very beginning wouldn't have to waited till dieing minutes before he or she  start thinking of submitting his or her own food he cooked, those that waited till the last day wasn't serious and they only entered the competition base on how successful they perceive it to be.

Then lastly, you said that you will be closing it by 12am Nigerian time, but the last entry came in by 12:40am Nigerian time, how unserious will someone be to make his or her submission that time?
Or is there something am missing, because the time of his submission came in after 12.40 am.

I'm so shock the contest as ended so soon. I think this should follow the normal forum time which is 12pm today since time to end today was stated in the contest earlier. How I wish OP can consider some forum member still waiting to drop there entry till this forum time. Thanks for your understanding.

I was actually reading through the thread enjoying the beautiful discussions from users about the contest as patterning to some issues the op had to address but then I bumped into this and I felt I should chime in.  Never a time should you compromise set standard just to patronize a section of procrastinators to earn a good name in their books, for its going to in some way cause a setback to your course as initially projected.  
The Op made room for sufficient time for any interested member to submit their meal in the contest. And most of these meals don't even take more than 30 minutes to get done so what's the excuse that they had to wait till the very last minute? Am glad the OP didn't give an extension except I maybe unaware about that.

In my view, reopening the contest thread is another form of encouraging laziness and procrastination among members in the LB and this is done could be used as a precedent to future contests in the LB should another contest host decides not to compromise.

To be honest with you, I am not happy that you reopened this thread for people who failed to meet the deadline of this contest to submit their food after we have come to an end of this contest just because you received multiple PMs from them pleading with you to give them a chance to submit their food. This contest lasts for a long period of time, and anyone who is interested in taking part in this food contest has enough time in the world to prepare his or her food and submit it here before the deadline of this contest. I believe a lot of people who took part in this contest are eager to see the 5 lucky winners of this contest, but this late development will make a lot of participants lose faith in this contest, and they will not even be eager to know who the 5 lucky winners will be because they will believe this contest has lost credibility since you failed to play by the rules of this contest. Please, in your next contest, don't give room for such favor because there are people who will not meet the deadline of your contest even though you give 100 days as a submission period.

Every entry received after January 15th, Nigerian time, should be dismissed for accountability. I could have locked it myself without OP's ability to reopen it, but I didn't since I assumed he was going to make a closing statement at the end of the deadline, but instead he extended the time to benefit the lazy ones. I am not impressed. Rules should be rules.

I could have locked it myself without OP's ability to reopen it, but I didn't since I assumed he was going to make a closing statement at the end of the deadline, but instead he extended the time to benefit the lazy ones. I am not impressed. Rules should be rules.

I didn't specify a close time from the beginning. Nevertheless any entry after 00: 00 is simply posting for fun   at least they got to post after cooking.

I don't want anyone to feel bad that after cooking they didn't get to submit it. Nevertheless I suggest you hold back and observe the outcomes of the contest.

Knowing how sensitive Nigerians are, compromising the deadline for some members in your PM is not a good choice. How do you think they'd react if one of the late entries who wrote you a PM won it?

I'm not doing it for Me -  I didn't enter any other contests on the board except this one because cooking is fun and this is the community-adopted contest. I'm not here to win; I'm here for the fun. I'm merely expressing my dissatisfaction with other participants who adhered to the deadline. There has never been a deadline change in any of the forum's contests.

It's your rules but the participants can also express themselves. No one is forcing how you manage your contest.

I was actually thinking that the cut off would be 23:59 forum time because that marks the end of 15th as I knew someone that wanted to post after work but could not post because the thread was locked before the close of work. Maybe, due to frustration, he never checked back to see if it was opened for him to submit his entries. He has no choice now than to prepare for the next edition because the contest will still come again. It will just be demoralizing if he spend the time and resources to make that food but was unable to post. Those of us that don't know how to cook are not worried, maybe before next edition I would have learnt how to cook.

Sincerely I see no reason why people wouldn't make up to submit their entries since the contest was launched till the ending part, and it's very annoying of us to always like dying minutes of a thing, at least there were days long enough given to us to make our dishes and submitted here but most of us wouldn't keep to date or time wanting to submit at the the last day, what are the chances they would win or not, or do they know if the organizer has already make his/her selection on 14th and just wanted to close the entry on 15th in line with the written date on the contest?

To me, I will advise us that any contest that is not clearly judged by everyone shouldn't be delayed till the dying moment minutes before submitting our entries, this could be within or outside we local board we should try as much as possible to always submits our entries 3-4 days before closing date, at this there are good chance of you getting in the list of the host.

I was actually thinking that the cut off would be 23:59 forum time because that marks the end of 15th as I knew someone that wanted to post after work but could not post because the thread was locked before the close of work. Maybe, due to frustration, he never checked back to see if it was opened for him to submit his entries. He has no choice now than to prepare for the next edition because the contest will still come again. It will just be demoralizing if he spend the time and resources to make that food but was unable to post. Those of us that don't know how to cook are not worried, maybe before next edition I would have learnt how to cook.

Humans are tend to behave like animals without set of rules or standards,  there is no justification in what you're saying after the number of days were given for submission, furthermore it means people that stick to rules of time were idiots by doing so and meeting up with time ,rules should be rules, we don't need compromise of any sort.
If you keep adjusting time to accommodate late submissions, then what would you do let's say next week others still come later begging and request for extension of time, should they be allowed,  No or yes ?.
I'm not a party to where rules are not obeyed,  and if that is the case here I will resign my application.

That's a good observation and recommendation per se but sincerely speaking, I'm not taking any side but we normally take things for granted in this part of the world. I mean there's no any sense waiting for the late time for someone to submit their entries if they are really interested to participate in the contest. Irrespective of our schedule, one must definitely squeeze out time for what seems important to them but the moment you start giving excuses to the extent of missing the deadline, it simply means it's not that important to you. Let be honest with ourselves, how many people don miss their weekly payment before based on say dem dey busy and couldn't complete the post? No matter how busy you are, you always find time because the payment dey important to you. It's same rule here, you don't have to wait for the last day before submitting your work if it really matters to you.

I'm not bragging but I can boast that I always try my best to respect agreement and time unless it's not important to me. I saw the contest thread lately but submitted my application the following day. Make we tell ourselves the truth na, how long e go take someone to prepare food abeg if you really want to participate? No vex abeg but your friend no really dey interested to participate in the contest. Let me put it this way, going late for interview simply means you no really need the job abeg. There was actually enough time provided for the contest.
