As we welcome yet another year, the gambling industry keeps on growing with new cut-edge technology advancements. For the year 2025, these are some of what we could look forward to in relation with our experience in gambling:

1) Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality

• The arrival of virtual reality to the gambling sector is exciting and proposes a lot of possibilities. This will take our gambling experiences into a whole another level. If you do not know, Virtual reality is a technology that stimulates an individual by presenting a 3d-like world without physically existing. Integrated to gambling, this could allow users to feel like they are in a casino or the game itself without being there themselves. Augmented reality is similar to Virtual reality except it is not all virtually done. Augmented reality makes use of the real physical world while adding some 3d features and improving the overall experience while allowing the user to have some control over his surroundings. Together, it could set a whole new culture in the gambling sector.

2) Live Casino

• Online casino has allowed many people to be able to play casino games without needing to go a physical casino but some people may still want to feel the casino atmosphere which is why live casinos are being developed. I also had felt some hype with the implementation of virtual reality to the environment and market of gambling, but recently there have been some facts which have made me kind of skeptical about the mid term viability of such advance. Firstly, people do not NEED to have a VR set in order to gamble, not in the same way they do need a smartphone or a computer in order to put money at stake on their favorite casino. Secondly, VR sets are still too expensive when compared to a simple Smartphone; a cheap smartphone (which could be used to gamble on) could be around just 100$. You won't ever see a VR that cheap in the market.

In the end, much of the volume in USD comes from developing countries, people who have a basic functioning smart phone and access to internet and they do not have among their priorities to acquire a VR set to enhance a experience they already like.

I think the VR implementation on casino doesn’t materialize since metaverse popularity went down badly after the previous rally of altcoins. Live casino and smart table are becomes the most popular addition to the new tech on casino industry.

I’m looking forward to the application of DeFi in most casino like lending, staking, exchange and many more which some decentralized casino is already using on their website. The lending that I mention the collateralized lending option through different currencies.

As for the games, I think we are already playing most of the casino games. Except on the fishing type games which most popular crypto casino still doesn’t add this type of game.

I am basically not familiar with Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, but reading what VR is makes me think that yes it is interesting because it gets a new gambling experience.
What I hope for in 2025 in the gambling world is that there are not many people complaining to casinos and more gamblers gambling according to the Terms of Service. If more and more players play based on the Terms of Service, then the presence of new technology in the world of gambling will be even more interesting.

Metaverse is not the only virtual reality. Head sets like oculus, and those made by Samsung, Apple and some other companies are also virtual reality. But just that metaverse takes it to extra level which defines another part of virtual reality. Gambling sites targets everyone, but people that uses phones and computers (but especially phone) are the ones that makes the gambling industry grow. Just few people will use those headsets because they are expensive than their usefulness and not necessary like phones and computers and many people will not go for metaverse which will be more expensive.

I was really excited about Virtual Reality gambling before but there are a few points that I don't like about it. First, the equipment itself is still so damn expensive. Not all people can afford it and if you are a gambler, you will just tell yourself to use that money to gamble or go directly to a physical casino and spend it there. It's a long-term investment but since there's no good application yet that could say we might use the equipment for a very long time, then there are fewer purchasers of the equipment.
That directs to point two. Few applications and most of them are not that fun yet. So 2025 could be the year where online gambling businesses should really focus here if they badly want to inject it into their new features.

You are expecting these technological breakthroughs in the gambling industry, but, for example, famous investor Jim Rogers said in an interview yesterday that he expects a deep depression in the economy in the spring of 2025. If this forecast turns out to be correct, then depression may affect the gambling business.

Then the introduction of any virtual realities is unlikely to be profitable for the casino. In general, I am not against technological innovations, but I believe that the main attraction and vitality of gambling is not in this, but in simplicity. Basically, a deck of cards is enough and nothing else is needed.

I would not applaud this. I have tested VR techniques at my gambling and got nothing but nausea and dizziness that resulted in losses at the end. After such bad experience I have sworn off VR.

The innovations that are mentioned in the OP are already on ground, we can expect to see updated versions. What I'm expecting to see in this 2025 and beyond is more alternative gambling options for people who're not into sports or the regular casino games. We've already seen an innovation in gambling last year with Polymarket, I never thought that people could actually vote on elections. There's Speedrun, that is building momentum to be added in gambling sites, so I wouldn't mind seeing more of unusual games and events being added into gambling.

OP, I think all the features or technology you have mentioned are already in existence and what is just needed is a kind of full-scale adoption into casinos. Maybe casinos would find them more satisfying when they look into it for those who have not yet scaled up their facilities to the current operational standards.

What I am looking towards is to see land casinos using AI robots for most of their services as I saw in a thread on the gambling board a time ago where it was mentioned by a member that casinos are looking at using AI robots for some of their live services which I think is alright for those particular services that seem risky and endangering the lives of the casino staff if engaged. Maybe this aspect of casino tech can help to mitigate the risk faced by casino staff to violent gamblers at the casino halls.

I am waiting for this Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality experience. Although the technology is already release, I think the tools to use that technology still too expensive and I don't thinks that I can buy that.

Personally, I do not expect a widespread introduction of virtual and augmented reality in gambling as these technologies are still at an early stage of development. Some of my friends bought virtual reality glasses and after a couple of months either sold them or put them on the shelf. In my opinion, to a wide demand for these technologies is still very far away, and therefore to integrate them into gambling in 2025 does not make any sense. This is my personal opinion. Someone may think differently.

We wont see Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in 2025. The technology is still raw and only demanded by huge enthusiasts. Gamblers not interested in VR technology. The amount they would spend on VR, they would gamble with instead. VR wont give them a totally new experience. Offline casinos will still give better experience, have more comfort, more entertaining than spending time in same 4 walls, where gamblers play all the time.

Why VR is still raw? Look at video games graphics in VR and number of games. Look on Apple Vision Pro sale fail. Gambling and VR will be a grain in the sea in the world of gambling.

I agree they are out of the radar of many of us because we are more focused on playing in centralized casinos, and these innovative Web3 and metaverse versions are ignored by many of us.
But what I expect to happen in the gambling industry this 2025 is that the competition will grow more and become stiffer, and there will be more casinos coming up that will challenge the existing casinos' standing in the industry, We will have more casino sponsorships and marketing on online and offline platforms.

Just like the majority, I will go with Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Just imagine playing on VR, and you don't have to show your face or get a new avatar for you when you let's say sits on a table to play poker or baccarat games.

So it's a new experience for gamblers, and I think it could really affect how we play and the only downside that I'm seeing here is that there could be more gamblers that are going to be addicted because of the new user experience that we will be getting in this new VR and Augmented reality.

There are more like the development of AI and of course many people have known how online gambling and even physical casinos have made many additions in utilizing increasingly rapid technology towards more advanced progress, it just that for now I personally am not so interested in various developments in several casino games because I still focused and more fond of sports betting.
This year 2025 will be the peak of many developments for gambling, maybe we can see more developments than what we know now, quite curious about how it will continue and every year the gambling base continues to show surprises in updating various new features.
