Shorting/Longing is not worth the ridiculously close liquidation points, especially with something as volatile as cryptocurrency. You can always hedge your funds against bad spot trades with a risk averting strategy. With derivative bad trades, you will keep nervously funding your account to keep your liquidation point at bay.

Just to lose it all overnight in the end. Roll Eyes

In order to sleep soundly at night and not think about liquidation, it is necessary to study and then adhere to the risk management strategy. But if you think that this is nonsense and continue to open an order with high leverage for the entire deposit, and without using a stop loss, you can lose it very quickly.

Leveraged trades are a bad idea because you could get liquidated easily. Although I would also not recommend it; if you really need the high stakes trading then why not just go for high volatility, high volume altcoin spot trading? At least you won't get liquidated.

The essential difference between spot trading and margin trading is that you will not be able to open a short on the spot market. Accordingly, when the market is in a downward movement, you will not be able to trade on the spot market.

Roll Eyes

Also, with derivatives, you will pay more in trading fees and a funding fee.

If you think about it technically, spot-trading is like 1x leverage but better. Grin

In this case, you can consider futures with x1 leverage as spot trading, only better) Because, as I wrote earlier, futures allow you to open a short, unlike a spot, where this is impossible. That is, the trader has a good opportunity to make a profit, regardless of which way the market is moving.

You seem to misunderstand. I am talking about 1x leverage only.

example:
Profit when shorting at 1x: You short -> BTC goes down 1% -> gain 1% in BTC profits when you close your position.
Profit when spot trading: You sell BTC for USD -> BTC goes down 1% -> gain 1% in BTC profits when you buy back in.

See? The only difference is that with spot trading there is no risk of liquidation and you pay lower fees.

It seems that you don't understand and miss the fact that a trader, after closing a short, can open a long position. Thus, he gets a profit on both short and long, that is, 2 times more than the one who trades on the spot market.

I understand that this is all just a theory, but the theory looks exactly like this)

Example:

I have 1 Bitcoin.

Whether I short/sell and then long/buy and make a 1% profit each time, the total Bitcoin in both cases is: 1.0201 BTC (assuming the leverage is 1X)*

So how is it different?

Yes, you're right, the profit will be the same if futures are traded with a leverage of x1. But in this case, one of the advantages of futures is lost - the use of borrowed funds, but nevertheless one more thing remains - you can trade bitcoin without having it in your wallet.

Keep us posted with that trading dairy. It would be nice if you could maybe post a chart showing how you do your TA or how you come to the decision of longing or shorting , TP, SL or even position size, you know?

Lots of newbies look up to such posts and could learn a thing or two from them. Otherwise, I wish you all the best.
What do we learn each time we're trading in the market? There's more complicated sectors of the market but with the provided aides, one could easily get a grabbed on the market strategy. Posting the charts with TA will become one of the prominent statistical data for one to follow in the space. This is a proper idea, inspecting good projects would become profitable when we trigger good entries on them.

Newbies are more vulnerable in the market, they don't know their left and right but when it comes for the strategic settings, they made more mistakes that would put them in higher vulnerable positions. However few learn from their mistakes while others continuously lose in their mistakes.

BIG WINNER!
