One of my teenage children is getting into Bitcoin, so bought them a Trezor safe 3, however the app wont load on their crappy laptop, leaving only my PC that i use with my Trezor/ Trezor Suite.

I read its possible to use multiple Trezor`s with Trezor Suite, however there`s no guide how to do this.

My main concern is maintaining access to my balance while the device is not plugged in.

If i plug in a new device does that info disappear replacing with the new device balance until i plug mine in again?

Is there a way to switch between both watch wallets while neither are plugged in. For all the YouTube videos on setting up Trezor i couldnt find anything related to this question, which is surprising as i would have thought many people diversify wallets / devices anyway.

If you have the task of keeping the balance for the first wallet in the Suite desktop application, then use the web version of Trezor Suite on the same computer for the second wallet, which will pull up the balance of this wallet each time you connect again.

You can use Trezor Suite web version that needs no installation, and I think they also released mobile app but I didn't use it.

I read its possible to use multiple Trezor`s with Trezor Suite, however there`s no guide how to do this.
You can do the first thing I proposed above, that is the easy solution.
Another thing you can do is creating new login account on your computer, to keep everything separate, and than install Trezor Suite on fresh account.
Last option is installing small Linux OS on you children computer, it will be much faster and more useful.

If i plug in a new device does that info disappear replacing with the new device balance until i plug mine in again?
You can use multiple devices with same Trezor Suite app, but I think that you can't use them connected at the same time.
Nothing is going to disappear if you do that.

Is there a way to switch between both watch wallets while neither are plugged in.
Two devices will be visible, and you can eject, disconnect and hide them.
I would suggest keeping them separate if they are both the same model Trezor Safe 3., to avoid confusion.

Using multiple Trezors on the same computer and Trezor Suite is possible. Trezor Suite doesn't require login data before signing in to the software (in comparison to Ledger Live, for instance). Connect the device, open Trezor Suite, and unlock your hardware wallet with the correct pin. The portfolio you see is from the connected device. You can even connect your other hardware wallet at the same time. There should be a menu option in the top left corner that allows you to to switch between the two HWs. Once you switch, the software will also display the new portfolio. I recommend that you give the two devices unique names. It will be easier to distinguish them if they are connected at the same time.

I would recommend not to use the daily computer for crypto wallet stuff, even when you use a hardware wallet. A Linux OS for crypto stuff feels safer for me, it's simply less targeted by malware than Windows.

Separate user accounts for you and your child or children like dkbit98 suggested, should be a must in my opinion.

Depending on storage space on the children's "crappy" laptop and OP's skills a dual boot setup could also be worth a try (make a full backup with Clonezilla before trying anything; no backups, no mercy). If the children's "crappy" laptop runs on Windows and there's enough free space on the storage, you could install a small Linux OS just to run a GUI with a browser for Trezor web app, the native app shouldn't need much space either.

Or get a affordable second-hand laptop, install Linux on it, and use this device for all your crypto wallet stuff (separate user accounts for every family member in crypto should be a given).

I don't understand why you are advising this honestly, OP didn't even mention he was using Windows, neither how much funds he was holding on his hardware wallet and on the one of his son. Do you really think any people using cryptos should be a Linux user actually? AFAIK Trezor like any (or most) hardware wallets never expose the seed of the wallet to the OS, Linux or Windows. So I don't think he would be at risk if he decide to continue to use Windows if he is actually using it. You can create several accounts for the users of the computer with Windows too.

While not strictly necessary when you use a decent hardware wallet, I still find it a safer approach, not to handle your crypto wallet stuff on your daily computer. Yes, the hardware wallet protects you from malware on the connected computer, but only when you never fail to carefully inspect every transaction detail before you sign it with your hardware wallet. Well, this should be a given, shouldn't it!

I implied that Windows is used, any Apple user won't call their laptop "crappy", I guess.  Wink  Linux and probably MacOS is less targeted by malware than Windows simply due to their lower market dominance.

I favour Linux because it's open-source, it's free, it works in most cases pretty well if not equally well. Of course, it depends on anybody's personal software needs. It's not a dogma and I hope I didn't state it as such.

I simply recommend to separate daily internet shit from crypto wallet handling as good practice. More important for software wallets, less important for decent hardware wallets with own independant displays and proper use by user.

I think malware targeting MacOS is rising. That's the impression I get from reading security news lately. Some of them are info stealers and target crypto wallet data too. It's spread through phishing emails, job interviews, and so on. It's true that the number is still far lower compared to Windows though, but it's nice to be careful.

I simply recommend to separate daily internet shit from crypto wallet handling as good practice. More important for software wallets, less important for decent hardware wallets with own independant displays and proper use by user.
I second this. It's not a huge price to pay if you care about security imo. CMIIW.

There is much more malware in the wild that targets Windows systems than those that are created for Linux. A much larger market share is one of the reasons. But if you have a computer whose solely purpose is for you to handle bitcoin and crypto with it, a genuine Windows OS will do fine. Remember, you aren't using it for other activities and malware/viruses aren't going to mysteriously appear one day through your network cable or Wi-Fi connection. Windows (especially Windows 11) and privacy is a whole different topic, though.

hey Cricktor, thanks for the Linux tip, i've actually been meaning to set up a separate crypto rig, and you're right about the malware risk on Windows, but what about the OP's question, have you or anyone else on here used multiple Trezors with Trezor Suite? how does it work, does it remember the balances of all devices or does it get overwritten when you plug in a new one? seems like a crucial detail for anyone considering multi-device diversification

I can't give an answer to OP's main question because I don't have multiple Trezor devices. I built myself a PiTrezor in the past and I guess I could simulate two or more Trezor One hardware wallets by using multiple microSD cards for the PiTrezor if I had the time and motivation to do it. (Likely won't happen any soon, sorry.)

But I'm not using my PiTrezor for more than Testnet coin wallets at best.

Do you know of a good guide for doing that?  Is PiTrezor a common term for it, or is that just what you call it?

I believe @Pmalek already answered OP's question, but I'll try to go a step further: I've been using two Trezor devices with the Trezor Suite for the past month... You have a lot of flexibility with how you want to set it up. If you enable the "view-only" mode, it'll show the balance and transactions while your devices are unplugged, but you can separately disable it for each wallet. IIRC, this option is turned off by default in the Trezor Suite.

Good guide to build a PiTrezor? Follow below link for the project pages I used, modified firmware links and lots of other information by the project creator: https://www.pitrezor.com/2018/02/pitrezor-homemade-trezor-bitcoin-wallet.html

Here my post and two pictures of my own PiTrezor: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5375482.msg60227545#msg60227545

If you have further questions on details about a PiTrezor, I suggest to post them in the thread where I posted mine. Sorry, if this smells a bit off-topic.

It's a great idea.  I've been meaning to build one for a while.  It's on my long list of "I'll get around to it, eventually" projects.
Guy who created youtube channel Crypto Guide has a bunch of videos about DIY Trezor and other DIY signing devices and hardware wallets.
He created DIY PiTrezor in several different shapes, using different hardware and he is always posting links with instructions and hardware he uses.
I think he even made Terzor using STM32 Dev Boards in different video, so it is worth checking out his older videos also.
