Btw, do make much drama out of this story. This is his second retirement already. Like he has announced his retirement on Instagram, he could announce his return Cheesy He would take a rest, drink some beer, enjoyed his life for year or two, clear his mind and return for a exhibition fight or professional against worthy opponent. Even though he has retired from pro, he still is an interesting opponent to have a boxing fight against.

This is not his second retirement, even before had multiple retirements,

1. in 2013, frustrated he he didn't get to fight Haye as Haye was reinjured twice and so he goes on retirement
2. when he beat Klitschko and there were talks of a immediate rematch that didn't happen in 2017. And then admitted that he had substance and mental issues.
3. went back again in 2018 and then said that he will retire, 'This might be the final curtain for the Gypsy King': Tyson Fury says he'll retire after promising his wife Paris that he'd hang up his gloves following sensational KO of Dillian Whyte... despite lure of a potential unification bout later this year.

So I don't know if this is his final decision though. But definitely he will have to factor his family as well and like any boxers who retire, they talk to their families before making the final decision.

I don't know if this is serious or what as others have said, he has history already of announcing his retirement and then after months he will go back again. Maybe what he needs is to just rest and clear his mind of his doubts and fears specially the two losses he suffered.

So I will not take this seriously. On the other hand, he might be looking for a fight with Joshua in the future.

And talking about retirement, Wilder is not done yet, when we thought that the knockout he suffered against Zhang is the end of his career, he will have a fight this April against Curtis Harper.

Quote
A boxing official familiar with the situation said Wilder and heavyweight Curtis Harper have each submitted signed contracts to fight in a bout targeted for April 26 in Atlanta and streamed by BLK Prime.

The fight already happened. It was a decision to make at the end.
Oleksandr Usyk successfully retains WBA (Super), WBO and WBC heavyweight world titles against Tyson Fury in Riyadh
That was last December 2024. But i think Fight number 3 is a good one for this.
Seriously? I did not know there has been a rematch between Fury and Usyk. This is the first time I am hearing about it. I guess my work has made me forgot about it. I could have note the date and not forget. I missed the match and I missed the bet. But it is nothing though. Usyk is better than Fury. You can easily know with the fight between Joshua and Usyk, Fury and Ngannou, Joshua and Ngannou.

I think Usyk will do the same in the nearest future. Both boxer are relatively old for boxing where young prospective candidates are maturing,  one of them boxer from Australia (I don't remember his exact name) . Thus it is better to  be unbeaten champion and retire than end  boxing professional fortune after being defeated.

This is not the first time that Tyson Fury, will announce his retirement and I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a comeback to the sport that has given him so much fame and fortune. Athletes in sports like boxing really need to take long breaks sometimes because they work very hard and the game is very dangerous, but the break might mean retirement for some. They will get bored eventually and make a comeback either for the money or being in the spotlight again. I believe that Fury, still got some fights in him and will most probably change his mind and come back fresher for some more professional fights.

It is not easy to make it to the top. If you become an unbeatable boxer and later someone won you, that does not mean. The person will be remembered by people during his time. There is nothing better than reputation, fame and wealth. This will make me not agree with you.  Nobody wants to lose but it is just a match that they can use to acquire more wealth which is good.

he does it simply because he wants to make more money, but it's normal when you know that you won't be at high levels for a long time anymore, you always try to put on a show as much as possible and make everything a show, it's well known now that he can't stay in the ring for long anymore and therefore he decided to make money

Well this is not the first time Tyson Fury is announcing his retirement he did it in 2013, 2015, and twice in 2022, each time returning to the ring to fight, so for me I really Don't take him serious on this announcement, if he had won Usyk in the rematch I don't think he will be talking about retirement so I just see his frustrated about losing to Usyk in the rematch that was why he came out to say his retiring from boxing, I strongly believe he will come back again and it will happen this same year, he was suppose to have a fight with Anthony Joshua this summer right now no body knows if the fight will still happen, but i still believe it will happen, Tyson Fury has won Anthony Joshua before so he won't see Anthony Joshua winning him, so for that he will come back again in other to win, however if he suspect he will be defeated by Anthony Joshua he won't fight will him, since he has announced his retirement if his coming back to fight again he will love to fight with someone he knows very well he can win,
however if maybe Tyson Fury has really decided to retire truly which I still find it hard to believe, then is fine, he has achieved a lot, he has heard many heavyweight titles.

Yesterday, the former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, announced his retirement from boxing following a failed attempt of winning a rematch against Usyk.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLoijJ5-7x8&pp=ygUVdHlzb24gZnVyeSByZXRpcmVtZW50
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/articles/c1wejqevx1wo

It's not the first time he announced his retirement. He has done it in the past (2022) but later decided to return shortly after.
Whether it's a thought-through decision, or just his current mood - I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
He's 36, so not that old for the heavyweight, he could potentially have a couple of more fights in him.

I expect him to get another fight after their rematch against Usyk, but I guess it hit hard to him and decide to retire since maybe he's emotionally hurt for his defeat gotten from that fight.

Although its not surprising for dropping that decision since somehow he's going to that direction. But who knows right? maybe he's just resting and want to recover from emotional stress he got from that fight. 36 years old is not old for a boxer so let see by next year if he will announce another comeback fight since for sure that a fighter would seek a fight especially if they know that they are still capable to win against their potential opponents.

Yes, he is still young but not strong enough to win against other boxers at his level. We can say that his name can't be forgotten too easily, as he showed some of the best fights of his boxing career but also reminded us that it cannot be like 10 or 5 years ago.

The time has come that his strength and power put an end. And retiring is the best option rather than forcing himself to the limit that might ruin his life and reputation. What he has done is enough; I think he could be proud of it.

Quote
The 36-year-old Fury previously announced his retirement after beating Dillian Whyte in April 2022 but returned six months later.
I will take him seriously only after six months when he doesn't return. At the moment, it can be his emotions speaking. However, if this is true, then I like that he is doing this with less records of defeat under his belt. This is the honourable thing in my estimation that Anthony Joshua should have done but he wants to keep trying until the record of his losses will be more than his wins and he will be remembered only for the number of matches he lost.

Quote
Fury doesn't want the fight, there's nothing you can do. You can't drag him into the fight. I don't know whether this was a move to stop the flow of pressure because with AJ calling him out, pressure is mounting. It could be the start of a great build-up, great mind games or it could be the end of Tyson Fury's career
I know that AJ wants a fight with Fury but he should sit it out. I have lost confidence in AJ. I do not mean that he is not good anymore but in my estimation if AJ goes into a fight with Fury, he is going to lose. So he should even consider it that Fury has saved him that embarrassment.

He's 36, so not that old for the heavyweight, he could potentially have a couple of more fights in him.

The retirement is premature. He did better on his last fight against Usyk than Dubois and Joshua's performance against Usyk.
I don't think he wants the boxing community to remember him losing two successive fights; he still has one or two great fights left in him, and he will realize this on his retirement time when he knows that he can still fight.
I'm sure there will be a call for him to comeback, and people want to see who is the greatest British heavyweight champion; he still has a claim on that title.
People want to see him fight Joshua and Dubois to claim that title as the greatest British heavyweight of this generation.

Yesterday, the former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, announced his retirement from boxing following a failed attempt of winning a rematch against Usyk.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/articles/c1wejqevx1wo

It's not the first time he announced his retirement. He has done it in the past (2022) but later decided to return shortly after.
Whether it's a thought-through decision, or just his current mood - I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
He's 36, so not that old for the heavyweight, he could potentially have a couple of more fights in him.
Two factors usually bring back sportsmen who have retired back to the game: Money or Passion. For Tyson Fury, he has made so much money from a successful career (although I don't know his current financial position). Maybe it was the passion that brought him back after he announced his retirement in 2022. We have been having fights with older boxers, so I don't think his age is a barrier. Maybe he has checked his mental and physical strength and concluded that it's time to leave the ring. Sadly the much anticipated fight between him and Anthony Joshua will no longer hold. Good luck to him in his future projects.

Maybe he just decide that he need to take a break after those bad defeat he got from Usyk and this is actually what he need to do to recover back. For sure there's huge chance that Fury will came back chasing for at least more fight since for sure he know that he can do more better next time when he step on the ring again.

He's been into mental depression before and I guess it hit him hard badly this time https://sidekickboxing.co.uk/concerns-to-mental-health-of-tyson-fury-if-he-losses-the-rematch-to-uysk/

Guess let see what will happen in future if he decide to retire forever and let everything pass by.

I had to search around for a place to post about this yesterday. I do think it is time for Tyson Fury to retire. I don’t believe he’s the best fighter in the world or even close anymore. His legendary reaction time is likely slowing to the point where he knows he isn’t going to win another fight. He did all he could though while he had his chance.
I did make a post about this on the Boxing speculation thread, and I agree with what you said as well.
Another reason is that he's nowhere near his prime years already, and I don't think that he can even fight for a world title knowing that he got defeated by Usyk who currently is holding 3 titles TWICE.

I guess it's just good that he defeated the heavy hitter Wilder twice a few years ago, but Usyk is on a different level. He might be small compared to other heavyweights out there, but he's agile as well. As for Fury, he did retire in 2022 after defeating Whyte, and came back a few months ago, and because of that, I have this thing back in my mind that he might come out of retirement soon as well and will fight for a world title if he feels he can. Of course, there would be some negotiations here and there, but if he feels he can, he will come out.

For the meantime, let's just congratulate Fury for his superb career.

Sadly the much anticipated fight between him and Anthony Joshua will no longer hold. Good luck to him in his future projects.

We have to wait for a few more months to see if Fury really lost his passion. Knowing Fury, he is all talk, and so proud of himself, there will be a moment of thinking that he still has it. Fighters like Fury want to redeem themselves; I'm sure the passion and the heart are still there because he believes that he won in his last fight against Usyk.
Time will tell if he really had enough and if it is time for him to retire for good. If he really wants it, that's a great career to speak of; he made a lot of money and had great fights that people really enjoyed watching.

Great compilation. Thanks for sharing. That just proves that his retirement is awaited for long time and a right decision. Every few years there is a crisis in his head, he burns out mentally and goes for a restart. I dont know how many mental restarts can a human brain can successfully survive. Its not easy to survive fame, money, when people always look at you and await something. If he really retires right now, I think he will do it still like a king, but not like an injured, beaten, humiliated, laughed, spoken boxer.

The 36-year-old Fury previously announced his retirement after beating Dillian Whyte in April 2022 but returned six months later.
I will take him seriously only after six months when he doesn't return.
According to what I found out about Tyson Fury is that this is not the first time he said he has retired. But that is even still better. I also found out that this is the fifth time that he said he has retired. If that is true, I do not yet believe this guy has retired. He is just 36 years. Quitting now is too early.

Yeah, it’s the thing about them, they could always come out of retirement anytime, hit the gym, get the internet all buzzing for a showdown and next thing you know, it’s happening, they’ve got a match fixed.
It’s all a business strategy for them and one means to catch up on debt and they do. Fans are always looking out to buy ticket to watch a legend try to show his still got it. Thought through decision or not, I don’t think he’s fighting days in the ring is over, he would be back at it when he needs it.

Yesterday, the former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, announced his retirement from boxing following a failed attempt of winning a rematch against Usyk.

I also hope that in the future Tyson Fury will give a surprise and fight again because we don't know what will happen and as we know Mike Tyson is no longer young, he is 58 years old and he fought again with Jake Paul, even though it was an exhibition match he still fought again with a different physical condition.

Tyson Fury cannot be said to be old because he is still 36 years old, and what we must know is that sometimes physical does not look at age. However, if we look at Tyson Fury's physical condition, it can be said that he is no longer in prime condition and his punching endurance is not like before and that was seen when he fought twice with Oleksandr Usyk.
