Someone suggested to pay 1 million to each person in Greenland to buy their country. It would cost about 56000 million and that's it.

I still believe it is kind of out of touch for a president of the United States to openly talk about taking over other territories and disregard the value of diplomacy and union between the USA and countries that are members of the European Union.
Also, if Greenland would be going to be sold to the USA, it should not be done according to the number of people who lives there but rather according to the value of natural resources which are keep underground, under the surface of their land. Also, Greenland is famous for being once of the few countries which can easily supply their population with energy thanks to their geothermal/geo-electrical facilities. One of their best natural resources is literally just hot water, energy.
Anyone with a minimum of wisdom on economics would quickly realize who much Greenland is truly worth.

That was actually kind of spine-chilling as this new mini tv series called "conflict" is fresh in my memory. In that an "unknown enemy" (Russia) invades a small portion of Finland by force, hold people hostages and notify officials that they only want to "rent" the area. I know that's far fetched but it made me think that they could end up renting it without asking or negotiating.

Also if bad*cker would be a real person, we would see him raving right now, how USA shouldn't invade other countries and how Russia is totally justified to act against this nato's military base expansion. But not surprisingly, everything trump does is ok for him.

Not that far fectched because it seems that Trump does not make any difference between allies, rivals and enemies. He is sending all short of signals that he is about to break the statu quo created after the second world war.

In my view Europe should start building a credible defence industry, a reasonable defence force and defence strategy (e.g. dual use industry, protected facilities, suitable patents,...)  just to make sure that the flexibiliy to get rid of the US is there and Trump knows it is there.

The people of Greenland should be allowed to determine their future. The decision of the majority of the people should be put into consideration when making such a strategic decision. Firstly a referendum should be conducted to determine if they want to still remain under Denmark. Then other decisions like the selling is the territory should be voted on.

The US will never accept to allow China occupy even a tiny space in Greenland. The people of the territory would either choose between China and the US. Trump is definitely biting more than he can chew.

Greenland is rich in natural resources including oil, gas and especially rare earth metals, an essential element for the production of military equipment. According to experts: that could be one reason why Trump wants to own Greenland to reduce dependence on China for rare earths.
In addition, Greenland also has an important geopolitical position and would significantly increase the military power of the United States if they owned the island.

Trump is not the first US president to make this suggestion. Previously, Andrew Johnson and Harry Truman also wanted to buy Greenland but both failed.

This map is factually incorrect. Several European countries offer citizenship for anyone born in them, others allow citizenship at 18 for anyone born in there and as far as I know, being born in the US does not confer nationality to all and any.

But that is not much of what is in question here. The Inuits of Greenland are sitting on top of massive reservoirs and the US does have a history of destroying local populations to take what lies below their feet.

If the Greenlanders know the A B C of what is happening here, will make a clear stance about any deal with the US other than leasing one or two military bases for short periods of time.

It's because the ice in Greenland is melting, which would allow any power to access a HUGE supply of oil and rare earth minerals, they estimate the combined value to be over 4.5 trillion USD. Try watching Trump's interview about Greenland you will know why, there are so many resources that can be utilized for their benefit, if they can control it or one of the superpowers gets it, it will be easy for them to process any existing resources, especially natural resources such as minerals contained in the soil.

From an earth that is shrinking due to population, from an earth that is decreasing in resources they need additional resources to guarantee long-term life in the future by utilizing unexploited areas, and also Greendland is quite strategic, and of course there are many things that we don't know what interests these people are aiming for.
