Bitcoin mining was always my dream but back then I couldn't afford ASIC miners and I was mining altcoins with GPUs, which was nice but today it's not as profitable as it was years ago. Finally, I have some money to buy a Bitcoin ASIC miner from Bitmain but I also have one fear for years. What if I receive a damaged ASIC miner? It takes months to receive them for China, it will take months to return them back to China and it will take some months to then receive them back again from China.
How do you risk buying ASIC miners from Bitmain? How often are their products damaged? Does it worth the risk to buy miners from them? How good is their support?

Been living under a rock for the past decade? ALL large miners have come from China since at least 2014. The only miners not from there as the small ones from Sidehack and the BitAxes. BTW: Bitmain is just 1 of several Chinese companies that make miners. Have you never heard of the Whatsminers, Canaan's Avalons, or the truly crappy ones from the likes of eBang?
As for reliability and repair policies - DYOFR. There are pages and pages about that here.

Do not buy directly from bitmain if you are usa based buy from altairtech.io they are legitimate. https://altairtech.io/product/bitmain-antminer-t21-transformer/you can do 240 volts? the one above is good I have four of them.

Do be aware that those ones from altairtech ships with Vnish firmware meaning that ~2.5% of the hash rate is forever taken for mining a DevFee coin that is split between Vnish and the vendor. If you use a tool like Wireshark to identify and block the DevFee mining the miner will stop working until DevFee is again allowed to work.

Good point . I never use vnish I sometimes buy epic controllers which have no fees. They do allow for better control of fans and hash rates. My transformed t21 all use epic controllers.

I assume you dont mean you want to buy just one ASIC, which is fine for hobbyist mining but definitely not for profitable mining. Considering your background in altcoin mining using GPUs, this is a tougher nut to crack unless you have a decent factory of ASICs running.
So first decide what you really want to do?
Mine bitcoin for pursuing a hobby and then sell the devices to someone running the same hobby? Or Mine bitcoin to make money?

Are you joking? Of course, I know that all miners come from China but I wanted to know what is the experience of buying it from China. In my country, I know that some people buy it from local resellers but resellers add their commission and it makes miners less profitable. I don't have experience with mining miners directly from companies like Bitmain. How risky is it, how many miners have defects, for example, 1 out of 100, 5 out of 100? I have heard Avalon but not Whatsminers and eBang. I haven't heard about DYOFR too, thank you for the answer. I'm not US-based but I can easily receive them from the USA. That's what I was looking for, thank you very much. I don't know if I can do 240 volts but the voltage in my country is 220 (sorry, I'm very bad at electricity, I should enlighten myself more). It would probably work in mining data centres. I can get electricity for 0.05 cents kWh. I assume you dont mean you want to buy just one ASIC, which is fine for hobbyist mining but definitely not for profitable mining. Considering your background in altcoin mining using GPUs, this is a tougher nut to crack unless you have a decent factory of ASICs running.

I'd love to do both, mine Bitcoin as a hobby and turn it into money making. At the moment, I can buy 2-3 miners.

most sellers have warehouses in europe and that's where they usually ship from. As the other members have said all the reliable machines come from China. I have been buying for many years and never had any problems except once with customs which while I had paid it I had to pay it again.

Bitcoin mining is definitely exciting, but you’re right to be cautious when buying ASIC miners from China. It’s true that shipping and repair times can be long if something goes wrong, so it’s super important to do a thorough fact check and verify the legitimacy of the seller before making any purchases. Look for reviews, customer feedback, and even community discussions about the seller.

Antminer is the best and the machine is very stable. The next is Shenma Miner. Avalon Miner is relatively cheaper. I am a miner from China

Buying an ASIC miner coms with risks especially with long shipping times and potential damage. To reduce risk, I'd look for trusted local resellers or distributors who offer warranties and easier returns. If I had to order directly, I'd carefully check the warranty terms and consider paying extra for better shipping protection

I am a Bitcoin mining equipment manufacturer in China. Unless the electricity price is below 7 cents, it is not profitable with the current value of the currency.

I will only buy if i have back up plan like knowing if there are reliable repair service or reseller who could help me if I need something to do with my machines or if something goes wrong. We all know that shipping delays and returns are nightmare and it is always a hassle so you should consider those first before committing.

I agree with some comments here having a back up like knowing a reliable repair service or reseller who could help if something goes wrong. It will be easier for me to contact them and ship my machines if needed so always consider these before committing.

If you will buy ASCI miners from China, you need to make sure that the shipment is insured or use a payment method that offers buyer protection. Returning damaged miners can be hassle and you/I/we don't want to end up with broken unit. It will be a hassle or a headache if we received a machine that is damaged and we all don't want that.

Potential damage? That is rare, because Asic miners are made of strong iron body, I have friends that have agents in China that help them to source for Asic miners and so far so good, I haven't heard about a dead miner.
The way you use the miner will determine the longevity of life, place in a well ventilated area and you will be fine, heat is the real enemy of Asic miners, make sure they are hashing away at a good Temp.

I feel your pain, I was in this same situation as you are some years ago and GPU mining become so obsolete since the day Ethereum abandoned proof of work, since that time I gave up on GPU mining but till date BTC mining is still very good, the only problem is BTC mining requires a more expensive miner called Asic miner. I've never received a defeated Asic miners before, although all is not mine, but I do help people to order for any crypto miners available, the trick is ordering from the official asic miner companies, e.g Bitmain and others. There are also few third party resellers too but you need to verify the source as this is one of the easiest way to get scammed. You won't have a problem buying from Bitmain, they will ship normally in a cared manner... Everything you need to know about item safety measures is available on the official websites of all Asic Miners.

I was thinking about just ordering a miner straight from the site but honestly, I'd rather hunt down a secondhand one or even a new one from someone local who's got a solid rep. It feels smarter to me because I can check it out in person, plug it in, and make sure it's humming along before I hand over my cash. Plus, I'd skip those annoying long shipping waits and the hassle of dealing with returns if something's off. I just like knowing what I'm getting upfront, you know? Saves me a ton of stress and probably some money too.

I'd definitely dig into what people say before I pull the trigger on buying anything. I've heard some say it's all smooth sailing–easy orders, quick delivery, no fuss. But then I've seen others griping about how hard it is to get help or send stuff back when it breaks. It's got me wondering if they're really dependable. If I'm not sold on them after checking. I'd probably peek at other options or some different ASIC brands that might save me the headache down the road.
