As OP mentioned that he's not someone's who plays poker anymore and that's why I believe Theymos should help him with name change.

I have worked with gambling addicts.
Every day they would tell me: "I'm quitting casinos" or "I'm not playing poker anymore"
This addiction is the strongest of all addictions and stronger than drug addiction.
I don't trust such people and since then I prefer not to have any dealings with them.

Even if OP were not addicted, the statement "I will not play poker anymore" is not a valid reason to change the nickname. Not playing poker is perfectly possible with the current nickname.

What prevents OP from "not playing poker anymore" with current nickname? Does OP's current nickname somehow limit his intention to "not play poker"? If OP with the current nickname cannot "not play poker" - then his addiction has never gone away. And his addiction situation is much worse than he tries to pretend. His application only proves once again that he has a weak will and a rather strong addiction.



Nickname can be changed if there is a threat of doxing. Only at this case it is a valid reason. And there are no personal names in his nickname. And all sorts of addictions are your personal problems that the admin is not obliged to solve. Admin has more serious matters

That's because at the time there was only one admin: Theymos. Now Cyrus is also an admin.

For example, if someone wants a name change and does not want to share the reason with the rest of the forum that is their decision. The community as a whole should not be intervening in a direct request from a member to theymos.

So, I want to thank theymos publicly for the change. I chose the new name because it has a lot to do with what I advocate, mainly in the P&S and Economics sections, although I suppose it will earn me some enemies given the bad reputation that free trade has in many parts despite the fact that it has led to billions of working-class people having a better quality of life than kings did 3 centuries ago.

I will leave the thread open momentarily but if I see a lot of trolling or drifting into issues that are not Meta I will lock it for good.

I almost thought about you still being who you're without the change of forum name and have immensely acknowledged your amiable contributions in the forum that hasn't just been about the poker games but in varieties of contents in the forum.
Being sincere, the anticipated "poker player" username has gone viral and influential which has really brought your forum personal a highily profile and respected user in the forum. 
Everyone do have right of related proposal though but let me just tell you that I like that your formal username "poker player".
But after all thoughts I related your vision to where is believed that some people could actually be influenced by the kind of names they bears which I think your thought of changing your name after you quit playing poker games is a good idea.
Who knows the hard times experiences you've had all those while you've been playing the poker? Of course none. So while we discuses about taking courage to fight ourselves out of uncomfortable gambling statusco's, if maybe you've been a victim to one and changing your forum username is a key point to help yourself out of it so I think it's necessary for the forum admins to get your attention and act as respected.
But then, we should think twice before deciding on forum username ot to bear in earlier on that we can long term be proud about without seeking of changes.
I've just noticed that the admin has finally responded to your request, congratulations to that but the rest in line should be assured that change of forum username isn't just going to be an easy response at request because there're lot peripherals taken the attentions of the admins in the forum than this.

That's why they did not have to explain anything to the public why they changed their nickname.

- admin now considers requests to change nicknames based on the fact of creating public requests as topics here
- Cyrus is official second admin of bitcointalk.org that have ability to nickname changing
- 50 BTC demanding for nickname changing is an officialy obsolete
