I’m considering adding an S21 Pro to my home mining setup, but I’m hesitant due to the high electricity costs here in Ireland. I’m worried the earnings might just cover the electricity bill. My other option is to go for an S21e XP Hydro and host it instead. Any suggestions?

We would need to know your electric rate per kWh, however based on the average rate in Ireland of €0.34, you should expect the following:

Cost to run 1 x S21 Pro per day: €28.64
BTC earnings per day: €13.58

Total loss per day: €15.06

Hosting companies are mostly scams - and very unlikely anyone would host one single unit like that. S21 Hydros require additional equipment, pumps, filters, water infrastructure etc. Typically you will need to invest in 10 units or more, purchased through the hosting company. But expect to get ripped off!

Your best bet would almost certainly be to invest in BTC and hold, rather than mining. As a general rule, you need free or very cheap electric to be profitable in BTC mining. That means around €0.05 per kWh or less

It is ok, I didn't take it personally.

I started with GPU mining with a laptop; I did it for months. It was years back. I was new and mining just for the sake of doing something new. I was enjoying the process, and making numbers, I guess that's what most people do who get into mining, it's a learning process, and there's no fixed book on how to mine, tech will continue to evolve, so will hardware.

OP BitSean did not mention their electricity bill. There are, however, cases I've seen where some people can get electricity for cheap, with subsidies and connections (These people make the most profit).

You will also make a profit in bitcoins if you mine them and hold them for a decade or so (This isn't 100% guaranteed, but chances are pretty high if you look at history)

it burns 800 watts an hour on high and about 500 on low

so 20 kwatts a day on high
and 12 kwatts a day on low.

that is about  6.8 euros a day on high and about  4.08 euros a day on low

it earns maybe 2.4 euros on high

and maybe 1.5 euros on low.  but you get heat if you need it which has value . As a space heater of 800 watts cost the same 6.8 euros to run giving you 0 euros back.

If he points to viabtc.com and just leaves the coin in set to 0.01 btc for auto withdrawal it is fairly painless way to dca and hodl the coins.

Must you buy and run a Bitcoin miner? I don't know why people are making it seem like a do or due thing when it's actually not, Bitcoin mining is not a must but the passive income side have affected many thinking they could get away with anything, Bitcoin mining isn't luck related unless you are a solo miner with very cheap electricity.

Bitcoin mining requires full math before venturing into the business, in your case OP don't try it, and please stop trying to full yourself. You have the clear answer but you don't want to accept it.

I said this because it's clear you knew that electricity isn't cheap in your country but you want someone to confuse you, it's all math, do some calculations, it's best you use the money to buy some Bitcoin and hold it, then go back to your daily life.

I have already written that mining should be tried if there is a great desire. You can buy an ASIC in Ireland and after a month of mining tell other cryptocurrency miners in Ireland about the advantages of ASIC mining and sell your ASIC. And when the buyer starts talking badly about ASIC and mining, you should explain to him that he will not get rid of the ASIC in this way

Firstly, it is a very expensive entertainment to buy an ASIC for 5-7 thousand dollars, which will consume more than 5 kilowatts per hour. You have many risks of ASIC breakdowns, overheating of the electrical network, and so on. Beginners do not buy such equipment. And if the equipment is also water-cooled, then this is an additional problem.
