Clergy men and women are the most respectable set of people in any society,on that note,they are not expected to get themselves involve in any political gathering or even coming out openly to make choice of leader as it is against the ethics governing the Christendom family,that’s reminds me there was a time when Christianity was a unefying force which promotes values,benefits and culture of people living therein.But nowadays Religious leaders are the one that choose political leader and front them to their members because of selfish interest.I have made to understand that in the scale of 1-100% problems we are facing in a political terrain,about 90% is coming from those sycophants calling themselves men of God.
    Most of them will use the name of God to lie in order to gain favour from this political leaders which is not suppose to happen,it is been assumed that any religious leader that indulge in this act is not worthy to be called MAN OF GOD because it really displays a high level ridicule and mockery in the HOUSE OF GOD.I don’t think,it right for a clergyman to get his or herself involved in any political affiliation,they are to stand a neutral ground.
 I no suppose talk on dis kind topic but dey way some religions leaders come dey carried away because of this small money wey diz hungry politicians dey give dem,on a norms dey no suppose bring diz kind thing near church,that’s more reasons am strongly against them.

It will be good for religious leaders to venture into politics the Bible says when the Religious rule the people rejoice and when the wicked rule the people suffer and mashing of teeth’s, a religious leader will have sympathy for his or her people and will definitely have his people at heart. When making mention of religious leaders we should also center this on the righteous leaders people who loved God and obey Gods words.

Well all know that it’s not easy for humans to be perfect but I boldly believe that a righteous man who is a good Christian can actually be a better leaders and when the temptation comes from the worldly people God will help them to go through it. Corruption is one of the challenges facing our country, but the country doesn’t support Good people to rule in a place like Africa. I think it’s high time Righteous religious leaders gets into politics and get involved in it, but in a place like Africa this will be impossible.

Citing the case of king David in the bible for pastor going into politics is absolutely wrong. They aren't alike in any way. David is generally an anointed king and not a pastor. He's God chosen to be a king. Politics and pastoral work should be two different things that should involve two different people especially in places like Africa.

I agree with you! My reasons are because when you mix religion and politics, you become distracted. Clergy men and women have a major role to play in the part at which they chooses to follow, and as such can’t combine religion and politics together. Politics itself is another logical game so it’s better not for a religious leader to go into politics. On the other note, most religious leaders do talk against politics, saying it’s a dirty game, while some are into politics. Then what do we say about that? Personally I think there’s nothing wrong if a religious leader decides to venture into politics, afterwards they are also humans and they have the right to vote and be voted for, and can also share their views on issues affecting the country and way forward in order to see the well being of the nation. But we all know that one thing killing our country is corruption within our political system. Our political system doesn't support the good people with clear intentions for the masses, they don’t support those who are saying the truth, if you say the truth as a credible religious leader, you have a lower chance of making it in our political system here, except you are willing to compromise your religious beliefs because politics being what it is in Nigeria have people who controls the system and if you don’t act according to their demands and instructions, you as a religious leader have a very slim chance of making your view count or even winning a political sit in the country. This is a fact. Everyone wants a good person to be in power but those kingmakers don't want the same. I have heard stories of some religious leaders who went into politics and come out as failures because they refused to compromise. The nation is not ruled by the religious but only the hard hearted. In a situation whereby you as an unreligious person who is genuinely trying to make a difference, they Godfathers would not allow you chance for your next seat. To me, religious leaders can venture in to politics because they have a deep understanding of needs and concern of their community. By engaging in politics, they can represent the interest of their community and advocate for policies that benefits their congregation and the wider community.

Also, many religions emphasize the importance of social justice and caring for the vulnerable. So therefore, religious leaders can use their platform to advocate for policies that promotes justice, equality and compassion.

No doubt, you points are valid. But we have had pastors in power and they still misbehave like the normal politicians. In Akwa Ibom and Benue state respectively, The governors are clergy men. But yet they are underperforming no impact zero capacity. So it's not about religion but a good man to take the job.
