I must admit that I did not know that Hal Finney had ASL.
I also have to admit that it brought tears to my eyes seing a genius like Hal in that position.

I don't know how many of you know this but Hal needs our support:
http://newsbtc.com/2014/03/31/forbes-andy-greenberg-starts-bitcoin-fundraiser-hal-finney/
http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2014/03/25/satoshi-nakamotos-neighbor-the-bitcoin-ghostwriter-who-wasnt/

I have donated and will donate again.

I hope more members appreciate his part in Bitcoin as well as PGP and offer a helping hand as well.

Not to discourage donating but Hal has a substantial amount of coins he kept from the early days, enough to leave his kids a big fortune (he posted here about it, search for his name). There was a good Stack Exchange with him a few months ago too where he asked about security of voice coding while making crypto software. He still codes

EDIT: FTFY  Wink

Click on any of the links I have provided.
Then tell me, apart from his condition, does that living room look like it's huge?

Because I can tell you that I do not have much money but my living room is at least 3 times as much.

Medical bills bro.
I have seen what it does to one first hand.

Do you know much much it costs a cancer patient to get chemo, MRI, etc?
I do...

Medical expenses can eat up a fortune over time.
He had to/did sell many coins at ~$100 shortly before the huge run to above $1,000. ~source = recent article

He still has 2000 coins for his kids. He did great stuff but not everyone with ALS is a millionaire.

Here's the address for the Hal Finney donations:  https://blockchain.info/address/18wfs69iiLUivru32EmVu4bmvrunBLptyN

I made a decent sized donation. The work Hal has done on both PGP and Bitcoin deserves a few bucks from me,  regardless if he already has money or not.   Smiley

That would have been almost 2 million USD, but with the BTC prices sliding I don't know when he'll convert them to cash.  Huh
