We have considered some of the things which hold back a country’s progress and we know,for example,that bad housing conditions and lack of interest in good health services can cause this.
   Ignorance of what is needed causes many citizens to be passive.Because they have not been taught what is expected of a good citizen,they do not understand why they must actively co-operate to help to bring about improvements.One anonymous,once said and i quote “Upon the education of the people of this country the fate of this country depends.”this  should apply to Nigeria.we saw how people sometimes broke the law or allowed others to do so in order to make money for themselves.This evil practice of giving money or presents to someone else to gain unfair or dishonest advantage over others is usually called bribery or corruption.Both giver or receiver,if discovered,can be punished by law,though it is not always easy to discover or uncover these evils,because the work is unseen.The practical application of this act,it just like the white ant or termite works unseen.In the same way that the work of the white antor termites can eventually bring about the downfall of a house,so can the spread of bribery and  corruption can also bring about the downfall of a country.It is like a disease which destroys the heart and body of the community,’same way that it is important to fight against plagues,epidemics and all forms of disease,so it is essential for us to fight against the diseases of bribery and corruption.
  If this practice were to spread to all branches of government,just imagine what  would happen if those elected to positions of responsibility in our country were corrupt and, having bribed their way to power,that means we should be ready to see the country decline.A poor man would find that magistrates and judges would always be against him and there would be no justice in the land.Taxes would go up because of dishonest spending,and gradually bad citizens would control the country.With time they would be rich and prosperous,but the rest of the country would suffer.The countries which have made the most progress are those which have tried to stamp out bribery and corruption the same way they have fought disease and ignorance.Bribery is the method used by dishonest and unqualified men to gain promotion and benefits which they cannot get by honest means,it is very clear that no community can prosper if bad citizens gain control and work only for their own profit,caring nothing for others.The welfare of a good community depends upon honest co-operation;without it,progress would cease and the community will fall like the house which was built on a sinking sand.It happens that when prominent businessmen and the leading politicians in the country gave their active support in the battle against bribery,then maybe newspapers and radio also helped to give publicity to the need for removing this social disease called BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION from the country.Although it may take time to right the wrong but if progress is being made more and more people will begin to understand why bribery is bad,and in the same vein converting their knowledge into action as GOOD CITIZENS to help stop the practice,then Naija go juz dey like heaven on earth.

The major problem of this country is corruption, and the funniest part of it is, the people who are supposed to fight  corruption or stop it are the ones engaging in it, and also encouraging such act, so what do you expect from random people.

They have collected bribe and free him, that is what they do now, so when a leader know that if he steal he can bribe people and anti corrupt agencies he will be bold to steal more, so if he's been caught he can share the money with them.

This right here is the major problem. The society on its own is so corrupt so there is no hope for the rest. Everybody is just an opportunist looking for a way to exploit the next person who "falls mugu". There's a reason why fraud is the order of the day. There's a reason corrupt politicians are hailed as good politicians, there's a reason people who don't outsmart others are seen as foolish.

The core of the country is rotten. If a person has an opportunity to steal a large sum of money but does not, he is termed "foolish". People who return the money they find are termed foolish while the ones who run away with the money are smart.
Of course, change like this can only come from the top because they are the only people that can enforce change but they are worse so there is simply no more hope.
