It's better to not operate your crypto wallet on your daily computer where you do all sorts of internet shit with. Get a used cheap laptop, install some easy to use Linux distro on it and operate your crypto wallet from this dedicated device.
Hot wallets are where to store very limited part of your bitcoin fund, not most, not all of your bitcoin fund. Hot wallets are more vulnerable to hacks and you have more risk of losing your bitcoin with hot wallets than cold wallets.
Invest in a decent hardware wallet and learn to use it properly. Always check every transaction detail on the hardware wallet's own screen very carefully, especially all output addresses BEFORE you sign the transaction.
