I don't think you need to move your funds to ledger s plus. The backup seed phrase from ledger s should be compatible with pedger s plus.

If you know that your seed phrase is not compromise you can migrate it to s plus.
If you don't know how to do it ledger has a guide on how to migrate ledger s to s plus.

Check the guide here: https://support.ledger.com/article/4566448488861-zd

BitMaxz has basically given you most of the gist you can actually go through the easy route by restoring the wallet in your new device via the steps he gave or you can transfer funds normally. However trying to transfer funds normally means you will have to create a new wallet on the new device then move the coins on chain over there.

Op while you do any of these make sure to have a paper wallet backup before you begin , till the end of the process. It's very important because it helps more like an alternative if you eventually lost either of your devices.

Purchasing another ledger device is actually a ''downgrade'' and I would never do that.
It's much better to transition to better open source alternatives like Trezor, Keystone, Satochip, Passport, etc.
When you are changing hardware wallets you can just import seed words into new device, but it's safer to generate new words.

By the way guys. Is there a nano ledger that uses now C type supported. The one I bought off before is still using the USB port adoptor. Most phones now and their charger connector uses C type. Wondering if ledger now got that version or model. Wishes to know cause I'll be glad to upgrade to that model if ever.

I think based on their website, all of the stocks and versions of nano ledgers are now using USB C.

  • Ledger Stax
  • Ledger Flex
  • Ledger Nano X
  • Ledger Nano S Plus

All of these from above based on the information that are now in their platform says that they all are USB type C.

Yeah, it still should work if you've got an old version.

Although the software updates won't get through with it. And if you're planning to buy a new hardware, much better to think of it first and never use the recover feature that it has got.

Go ahead and check the website and see what you'd like about them and what you need with your current situation.

I would strongly advice against purchasing new ledger or any other closed source hardware wallets just because they have USB-C connection.
You can check TheBitcoinHole website and compare all hardware wallet connections, most of them switched to USB-C, except Trezor One, KeepKey and few others.

I would advise you to read the following topic ->
Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities

Furthermore, if you have any significant amount that you keep using that device, I would advise you to consider investing in an air-gapped hardware wallet - your Bitcoins will be much safer and you will sleep more peacefully. But if you don't think it's a problem that Ledger even gives you the option to share your seed with third parties, continue as before Wink

I see mate, can I ask why you wouldnt suggest to purchase USB C type hardware wallets. If this regards to security aspect would like to know your opinion about it. Maybe theres some compromise with this model? Or its more unsecure compared to old one. As an OG uer like you, I'll like to hear more info so I wouldnt regret it, if the accsibility is good and convenient but security is low then its not a good thing.

Easy. I moved my wallet from Ledger S to Ledger X. And it was as simple as importing my wallet on the ledger X.
Just enter the seed phrase and you're all set.
Just be sure the new Ledger is legit, otherwise you can say bye bye to your crypto

I'll be a little sarcastic and say that people should make sure that the company whose devices they use has good credibility - and when it comes to the company in question, I think they lost theirs a long time ago. Feeling safe because you use a hardware wallet and actually being secure are two completely different things.

I just hope that nothing bad happens with their recovery option, because if someone manages to hack it, there will be real chaos and many will be left unpleasantly surprised.
