I like the idea, can you tell how much or the average range of the gas fee before posting or anything since it needs any changes for the account too?

Also, please make the platform more mobile responsive it looks like a desktop mode even using a mobile phone.

The color scheme is like X (twitter) too, idk but that's what i feel. You could make changes for that like more unique feels than just being a copy like o X.

It has always been our dream to build a fully decentralized social platform
Can you tell us something more about the way this was done? More technical details.
A decentralized social platform is an idea that has been talked about for a long time, but I haven't seen any serious attempts yet. As far as I know, even the administrator of this forum offered a reward for the decentralized solution of this forum.

Quote
Zether Social Platform is 100% decentralized. It runs entirely on a single smart contract — with no admin, no control, and no central authority. Our contract is carefully designed & highly scalable to handle millions of users, ensuring unstoppable freedom of speech and true digital ownership. No bans. No censorship. No one in control.
This seems like anarchy in the making. It's a great place for spammers and fraudsters.

I'm not sure this is an idea that will be accepted.

1. When you talk about True censorship resistance. I don't think this is possible as long as you use domain names that can be seized or shutdown at any time. Tell me that I am wrong. Sometimes all it take is for authorities to contact namecheap.com
2. I don't think the gas fee will reduce spam. More like how we still see this networks getting spam attacks regardless of the miner fees. If the spammer is motivated, nothing can stop him or them

Thank you! Since the entire platform runs fully on-chain, there are no backend servers storing data. This means every post, update, or interaction needs to be written on-chain, requiring gas fees. However, the gas fees are very minimal at the time of writing.

For example, here’s a real transaction for making a post: https://zthscan.com/tx/0xaa0022b29f9ea6367cf8725b8c8e0f556382dfc6b478d69f97ca7ba6fbe925ef
And this is the link to post: https://zether.org/#post1

(cost: 0.000441279 ZTH ≈ $0.00000002703716433)

Regarding UI improvements:
- This is just the first version, and we agree that mobile responsiveness needs work. We are actively working on improving both the mobile and desktop experience.
- The design is inspired by Twitter, but the key difference is that this is fully decentralized—no Musk, no corporate control, no need for multi-million-dollar servers or thousands of employees. Just pure, unstoppable speech.

It has always been our dream to build a fully decentralized social platform
Can you tell us something more about the way this was done? More technical details.

I'm not sure this is an idea that will be accepted.

We launched our own Ethereum fork on Nov 1st, 2025, using Proof of Work (PoW) consensus because:
✔ PoW ensures greater decentralization—it’s the best foundation for censorship-resistant platforms.
✔ A fully decentralized platform needs its own blockchain—you can’t rely on centralized chains and claim true decentralization.

How the platform works:
- We built a smart contract that simulates a full social media experience (similar to Twitter, but on-chain).
- You can: Create an account, update your profile (username, bio, website, avatar, cover pic), post, comment, react to posts, follow users, etc.
- All interactions happen directly on-chain.
- Our contract includes a smart query system, allowing users to efficiently retrieve any post, comment, or user profile—whether we have 100 or 1 million users, you can always query on-chain data efficiently.
- Unlike many dApps that use off-chain indexers to query data, our platform is fully on-chain, except for the follower list (because storing large arrays in a smart contract is inefficient). However, the off-chain indexer for followers is optional—you don’t need it to use the platform.

🔗 More technical details (FAQ): https://zether.org/faq

If the spammer is motivated, nothing can stop him or them
1. A domain is not needed to access a smart contract.

❓ Can I use this platform without the official website? Yes!

This platform is so decentralized that you can:
- Download or clone the front-end and run it locally.
- Host your own Zether node, enable RPC, and connect the UI directly to it.
- This means no one, no government, no company can take this platform down.

Even if our domain is seized, Zether continues to exist and function—unstoppable.

2. Can spammers still abuse the system?

We can’t prevent spam, but it’s harder than on free-to-use platforms:
✔ Every action requires a gas fee, even account creation.
✔ Spam isn’t free, unlike on traditional platforms where you can just create bots and flood the feed.
✔ Will motivated spammers still exist? Sure. But it’s a lot harder than on Web2 platforms.

I've seen some social media/forum claims to be decentralized/distributed, although it's rare to find one that use PoW.

I also have concern about that matters. Although theoretically someone could build front-end which have filter feature as pseudo moderation purpose.

I've seen some social media/forum claims to be decentralized/distributed, although it's rare to find one that use PoW.
Well, our platform is built entirely on a Solidity smart contract, meaning it can be deployed on any EVM-compatible chain—Ethereum, ETC, BNB, MATIC, and many more.

It’s rare to find a truly decentralized platform like ours because many so-called "decentralized" platforms deceive users. They let people sign in or create accounts using Web3/MetaMask, giving the illusion of decentralization, but in reality, their posts and data go to centralized servers instead of the blockchain.

With Zether, everything stays on-chain, ensuring true decentralization and censorship resistance.

Being based on the Ethash POW principle does not mean that the network is decentralized. The network is decentralized by the number of mining pools and their commitment to being decentralized.
Miners get 5% equivalent of total block reward but you did not mention the maximum block size and if each update costs about $0.00000002703716433 this means that the return from mining will be low and therefore the network will be more centralized.
An average of 12 seconds will make the platform slow.

If we follow your logic, then no PoW blockchain is truly decentralized—which isn’t the case. You’re ignoring a key aspect of decentralization: the ability for anyone to join and participate freely.

For example, let's say our chain currently has only two mining pools. That doesn't mean a third, fourth, or fifth pool can't join. The barrier to entry is open, and that is decentralization. If you think pool dominance means centralization, then Bitcoin and Ethereum would also not be decentralized.

Feel free to check the stats:
🔗 Mining Pool Stats

Regarding Block Size & Miner Rewards:
- Block size is currently 30M gas
- Miners do not receive just 5% of the total emission. That 5% figure refers to the foundation allocation, not the actual block rewards.
- Full emission details: Emission Table

Unlike many other chains, our coin does not have a finite supply—ensuring that mining remains economically viable as long as the network exists. If you cap supply and rewards, you risk killing mining entirely, which forces a move toward centralization.

About 12-Second Block Time Being "Slow":
Yes, 12 seconds per block might seem slow in comparison to centralized platforms, but that's a flawed comparison. If we take your argument further, you could say:
- Bitcoin is dead because PayPal and Visa process thousands of transactions per second, while Bitcoin blocks take 10 minutes
- Ethereum and Solana should replace all banks because they are faster.

But decentralization isn’t about speed alone. If you want instant transactions, you sacrifice privacy, freedom of speech, and ownership to a centralized system. If you want decentralization, you accept some trade-offs in speed.

Traditional platforms own your data, control what you can post, and censor you at will—in exchange for speed. Zether offers the opposite: no censorship, no ownership over users, and full on-chain interaction—but at the cost of slightly slower updates.

It’s always a trade-off:
Centralized: Fast, but no ownership, no privacy, no freedom.
Decentralized: Slower, but no one can control or censor you.

P.S. The broken link has been fixed, thanks for catching that! 🚀

You could try implementing this moderation logic since it's smart-contract based:

* anyone can review or moderate post/comment

* review = finding issue in a post or comment, and downvoting it, with reference or proof to the issue attached beside the vote.

*  issue = problem, something bad, or something not right

* You could have a list of issues or review types that best describe a review. Example of a list: plagiarism, scam, spam, racist comment, nudity, selling harmful drugs, etc. A reviewer simply tick one or more on the list that best describe his review.

* A review can be reviewed by another reviewer until there is no more issue

* a reviewer automatically gets 1 or more points for every successful review. This allows the reviewer to rank up and become a top moderator

* Successful review = good review, or review no one can find issue in. If issue is found it should be little

* You can set how much point each successful review is worth. Eg: Successful Scam review = 3points

* Top moderators have higher voting power, meaning their votes are taken more seriously, but even a newbie with strong evidence of wrong vote against top moderator can easily neutralize the wrong vote with the evidence.

🌍 Should We Create Zether Social for Local Languages? 🗣️

Hey Zether community! We’re thinking about expanding Zether Social to support local language communities—like Zether RU for Russian speakers, Zether CN for Chinese speakers, and more!

This would allow users to freely post, engage, and connect in their native languages while keeping the experience streamlined and localized.

🔹 What do you think?
- Would you like to see Zether Social available in your local language?
- Should we create separate spaces for different languages, or keep everything in one global platform?

Drop your thoughts in the comments! 💬👇
