Forum problem 2: Boards Quantity Trumps Quality

I have to say,  I'm fed up with the sheer quantity of sub-boards on this site. Hundreds? Are you guys serious? It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but the needle is on fire and the hay is being blown away by a hurricane.

Take, for instance, the Meetups board. I mean, scroll a bit and the last thread on that board dates back to 'April 28, 2024, 08:53:45 AM' - it's starting to feel like a ghost town. And don't even get me started on the Investor-based games board. Either nobody cares, or nobody remembers it exists.

And what's with all these overlapping boards? For example, can we please just merge the Auction one into Goods? It's not like it's getting any use anyway. We've got multiple solutions to a non-existent problem. If nobody posts in an auction thread, maybe it's time to scrap it altogether.

Before you start throwing pitchforks, let me ask: are we really adding value with all these boards, or are we just creating more trash? But hey, what do I know? I'll just sit here and watch as we continue to accumulate dust.

I don't know why guys be wanting to make reasonable contributions or valid opinions yet because sounding like they hit head on the floor by beefing themselves when no one really gives an "F" about you.

So if you come up straight and present this opinion with you main account and in a likeable manner would anyone fight you for that?

Of course some this boards might be quiet for a long or short period of time as no idea or events that requires them to be active are not yet in their prime.

I have been using this forum since 2017 and have never had a problem navigating the forum and finding which section I want to visit. So, I don't see that as a problem, and I'm pretty sure most of us would agree. You suggest a solution to a problem that doesn't exist in the actual sense, and it's just what you think about it. If some of the sections/boards are mostly inactive, so what? Every board doesn't have to be as active as others because it depends on the problems and discussions coming up over time.

You are making no sense by suggesting that the Goods child-board should get merged with the Auctions child-board when they serve different purposes:

Goods (child board of Marketplace) - Trades of physical goods on-forum for Bitcoin. If you are selling goods on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Auctions (child board of Marketplace) - "Auctions may optionally be placed in this section. Topics and replies in this section can't be modified or deleted. "

The Goods child-board is for physical goods being traded, whereas the Auctions child-board is for auctions. Do you know the difference between a trade and an auction or not?

You actually need to read the Guidelines for threads to understand what section is for what purpose before reaching conclusions.

They were created and added because they had needs to satisfy.
They might not be much active now, doesn't mean they should be scrapped.
If they were needed then, there's a likelihood they would be needed later on.

Ironic that the hundreds of boards makes it easier to navigate the forum and help in organizing of threads.

You also don't need to hit your head on the floor because they decided to write with their alt account. The forum is not against using an alt account for expression. It will be fine you don't pay attention to the account but rather to the message.

I get why you would think that.  For me, having different sections is useful - like a library with areas for different topics.  Makes it easier to find what I want.  But I can also see it being a lot to handle if you arent used to online forums and  they can take some getting used to.

If you're already using AI to write posts, why not use the same one to search the forum - or maybe try using the forum search engine? Personally, I have no problem navigating the forum, each board and its subboards are in the right place - if any part of the forum irritates you/doesn't interest you, simply go to your profile settings and select the ignore option.

By the way, I've actually visited the Goods board and its child boards before, and I can tell you that there are indeed auction threads in there. So, stop trying to spin this as if it's a non-issue.

Are you being serious right now or you are just trying to make yourself know. Your account is barely 2 weeks old and you are already fed up with the forum. You complain about things you know nothing about. I don't know if you are just hiding under the mask and saying these things. OP Creating separate threads for each of problems you discovered here will not aid your quest; instead, combine all of the problems into a single post and update as you discover new problems.

You should also note that those boards serve historical purposes. Merging or discarding destroys that.

You want me to combine all the problems into one thread? That sounds like a great idea. But pictures the chaos that could ensue of trying to discuss hundred different issues into one place. And as for historical purposes, yeah, I get it. Some boards have served their purpose in the past. But why not retire them with dignity by making them archival childboards?

Still better than spreading your toto on the meta at every chance, if you don't take yourself seriously, how do you expect to be treated? The forum was not code in stone and is open to suggestions/improvements, but crying about minor issues does not work.

The forum haven got just about 5 boards with each of them having several sub boards which I think it’s okay. It kind of organizes things to specifics. The fact that discussions could be related doesn’t mean that, certain sub boards be merged to form one. That merger already produced a larger board in which, these sub boards are a composite of.

I wouldn’t like to have it otherwise or that’s the way I see it now. Either ways, I just can’t complain and besides, there is a search function key that could always make you track threads and comments to it’s specific.

I don't think you have to go this harsh all because you wanted to make a suggestion over scrapping a board or merging two together, personally, I don't post like that under those sections mentioned, but there are lots of people I know who are using it and having their mind at rest for such board to have been in place, if it's not reasonable enough for you to go through them, you can just hide them from the drop down list on child boards under economy, unwatch the board and move on, and if you think your suggestion is important, then politely make your presentation to the admin and state the reasons you have for that, if you think that here is not well coordinated enough, then try altcoinstalks and see for yourself.
