I was glad to see Apple follow in Google’s footsteps in getting their maps updated to include the new name. The Gulf of America. I love it. It probably always should’ve been called that regardless of whether or not a loophole was needed to drill for oil there. Go America!

I am not sure where you are, but in my map is says clearly "Gulf of Mexico" and the in parethesis "Gulf of America". I think they are waiting the next administration to update again.

It also reminds me some of the worst days of our administration here in Venezuela. When the government did not have any advance to show off in their promises and they were still battling with high crime, high inflation, poverty and neglecting our senior citizens, they would try to distract the attention of the Public by seizing organizations and renaming them as "socialist" and after the name of some socialist leader of Cuba, the Soviet union or Latin America. The organization or business did not suffer any meaningful structural change beyond the red coating which was usually applied on it after the name change, there was inefficiency and corruption and many of those companies/businesses went bankrupt after being seized by the government, they did not last long.
If a president needs to rename streets, cities and squares in order to make it to the news, then you can be one hundred percent sure you are dealing with a demagog and a snake oil saleman.

Renaming to "Gulf of America" is one of Trumpolini's most brain-dead moves yet. Considering it is surrounded by 3 Americas - North America, Central America, and South America - perhaps calling it the "Gulf of Americas" would at least make sense.

I'm with you about changing names will significantly change the system itself. Almost all countries use this "smoke bomb" and throw dust in our eyes. But, it's very different to want to change names and do anything that you think is best for your country than to rename other countries. And Mexico IS another country.
