How big do you think restaking would be on Solana?

I might be late to the party, but I only just started to hear about Solayer and that was even because I came across a launchpool for it by chance.

This is unlike me, because when Ethereum users were introduced to EigenLayer, I was quicker to it, but in the end what matters is that at least now, Solana stakers now have access to restaking via Solayer.

I've seen a few people talk about speed and how fast its TPS is, compared to ETH and SOL, but I think the big question is how big the restaking market is, especially in the Solana ecosystem, because no matter how good you think your product is, if you don't have a market for it, or in this case users, there's no point.

Exactly, most investors are down playing how dangerous staking is, they are mostly blinded by what they stands to gain without looking at the most dangerous part whereby you must leave your asset in the exchange for the staking duration, and as such, if anything happens to the exchange in question, all your money is gone, they are not seeing it from that angle actually, they are more concerned by the peanut they stands to gain from such risky move.

Thank you very much for this, I totally get what you mean, and I'd like to know if this applies if it's short term. I remember that locking period was around 3 days.

So what I mean is, in a case like this, are you exposed to the same amount of risk if the locking period is not that long?

Okay, just to be clear is this how you feel about staking in general or just this altcoin? Also do you think we'd be getting alt season anytime soon?

I don't think it will be that big of a market when it come to restaking in solana to be honest, solayer got the hype because it's the first hype restaking from solana I guess, but most of solana users are active speculator, don't really let their money sitting for too long.
but then again, the restaking market in solana is still pretty early, but the hype isn't as big as eigen, maybe because people are tired with restaking and their miniscule APY too.

I've staked my USDC through solayer personally and I don't think it's really worth it.

There is still a huge market for stakers. People don't want to spend their SOLs and any other reputable coins that they have. With this case, instead of selling it to the market, if staking is allowed then that will be a better choice. They keep the sols that they have and at the same time while holding it, they get to earn from the APYs that they'll get through if ever they don't have any plans of selling it anytime soon.

same with ETH, if there's no effort to build the market there won't be market ever, as of now solayer is building the foundation, the market will eventually find its way, solana is also on track to overtake ethereum so restaking will matter in the future.
currently the TVL of solayer fall behind compared to eigenlayer, 300m vs 13 Billion, it's a huge difference, but maybe this also opens up opportunity if their APY is good enough people will migrate.
eventually the big whales who staked their money will realize that ETH is sinking ship and will move onto solana restaking. hence, the growth for the restaking market.

Now that you mentioned it, do you think the "hype" came from the fact that it offered restaking options on Solana, or just purely because traders were looking to flip it's token when it listed.

I say this because like I said earlier, I only came across it because someone was mentioning staking BGSOL on an exchange to get the token, and I'm taking maybe stuffs like that among many other promotions is why the token is getting these hype, what do you think?

honestly, I think most of TVL were made up of people looking for the airdrop from solayer's TGE, post 5 january rumour of snapshot TVL just keep going down now only left about 40%, I'm sure there are people out there who really find the APY offered by solayer interesting but almost half of people already yeeted from the project right after snapshot taken. so the hype is because it's the most promising restaking project in solana, but people only looking for TGE airdrops.

for the solayer's presale most of them I think are traders trying to flip their money, with how hype the pre sale was, but i'm sure if solayer can offer good APY and integration with other project, it can still have the potential to grow the restaking market significantly.
