http://www.dailydot.com/business/coinbase-api-hack-email-address-full-name/

Saw this on Twitter when I was flipping through. How do you guys feel about this? Coinbase claims that they don't actually require users to use their real names when signing up. However though, I'm pretty damn sure I had to use my real name…. because I had to verify my bank account. Hmm. To me it seems like this "hacker" is just looking to squeeze some money out of Coinbase, who claims it wasn't even really a hack.

This is not April Fools by the way.

It is a partial list, and most likely compiled from other sources, such as reddit users.

This could be real or fake, the compilation of the list looks like it's made completed phishing attempts but there is no way to be sure.

This issue has been addressed, and it isn't a big deal.

No it's not that serious, there was no hack or compromise. Some spammer abused 'Request money' feature of Coinbase with a list he already had from somewhere.

Actually, it is a big deal, because the hack allowed the hacker to place a Name with an email address. It's called user enumeration, and coinbase should have known better. They are absolutely liable, and eventually will be sued over this.

My negative trust rating is reflective of a personal vendetta by someone on default trust.
