A friend of mine just lost her job as a graphic designer because the company switched to AI-generated designs to cut costs. It happened so fast, one month she was swamped with work, the next, she was let go. With AI evolving this quickly, which industries do you think are next to be replaced? It's sad and scary at the same time, maybe next year our plumber is AI robot. LOL!

It's possible to get a computer AI plumber but these skilled types, they're really possible to be replaced. In restaurants, servers can be robots/AI nowadays.

So, customer service is the next thing that will cut the cost of operations of these big tech companies.

as to the topic:
100 years ago a family farm of hand harvesting involving the whole family, gave way to the mechanical harvester and the poor uneducated kids working on the farm then needed to go to school to learn other things and find work away from the family farm. their grandkids became the programmers that made AI and caused them to be out of a job. now they just sip cocktails on an island, not the island im currently visiting, but they are out there somewhere retiring early

as for the effect on other normal people, we are already seeing the displacement of the work force, even in the form of AI customer service, AI science research, AI accounting, AI product design, the list is near endless. people will need to retrain and change career paths, there is no job security anymore and people need to realise there will be no such thing as staying in one career for life.

what people will need to do is shift over from the mundane low paid stuff that can be automated and start offering themselves into the luxury/premium service class, where by customers and service users want the personal experience of not speaking to a robot

the thing is that makes more sense than using ai for creative purposes

a robot does not need to be creative. humans are plenty creative enough. culture and history will tell you that much. the greatest artists of all time did nothing but make art. maybe with ai, artists can focus more on making their art by letting ai do their tedious chores. instead it is doing the opposite.

I think technology helps people a lot. But honestly, if people continue to do their work entirely through technology, there may come a time when people may not be in control of technology. I am really worried about the future of humanity, seeing the behavior of AI.
