Canada should not be blamed for the inflow of undocumented immigrants into the US. The amount of these immigrants that pass through Canada to the US is insignificant when compared to what happend on the Mexico-US border. Saying that Canada doesn't need the US is not true.  Canada is one of the US biggest trading partners and the former enjoys a favorable balance of payment.  These two nations have been trading partners for so long and both of them depend on each other for some resources. But Canada needs the US more than the US needs it.

If the tariffs benefit one of the countries and not the other, it's up to the 'victim' country to change things if they can. There are lot of things Canada can do. It will simply be a little harder in some directions with tariffs in place. If it's too easy for one of the countries, they are essentially stealing from the other country.

It's difficult to decide. Maybe Canada has been stealing from the US all these years. and the tariffs are only turning it around for the US a little.
