Nigerians why can't we just be truthful to one another for once, writing this in pain. A scammer i consider as a friend scammed me of my 115 PI. His excuse was that he sent it to his own vendor to buy it but up till now the vendor has not sent the money and also the PI back. The main reason i sold was because i needed that money day before yesterday i couldn't wait again for the listing. Now i have nothing! What can i do to such a friend because am tired and we are not even in the same state?

I take it that your story at OP is only coming from a few days ago and as such, your friend could be saying the truth. It might not really be his fault but, we could say they both (friend and vendor) are playing a fast one on you

Perhaps they are waiting on the listing to happen before they would go ahead to credit you what it’s worth in yesterday’s price as against today’s price when it could be worth even more.

Something I don’t get though @OP, you’ve had to wait all these years, how long would that be even, about 6years or more and just when you heard it was about listing, you now have what you need the money for urgently… I guess you see where that got you!

Don't jump in to conclusions that you have be scam by him, find out form him what the matter is and why the delay in payment, give him the benefit of doubt by giving him so time to see what next, if after all these not come out then don't hesitate to take drastic actions on him.

Firstly it not encouraging to say "Nigerians  why can't we just be truthful to one another" their by condemning everyone.

As for what you said about him saying the vendor has not sent the money, I will say you talk to him, you say he is your friend and I believe you would not make him your friend knowing he is a scammer and also letting him do business with you.

Just give him the benefit of the doubt, am not saying he did not do anything as such, I just don't know am not there.

But literally you did not get the money and your 6 to 7 year of mining is in line. Well only you know your reason but I still think you could have waited cause now you are still waiting for your money which you could have had yesterday been 20th of February

Since this your friend is off forum, there is nothing anyone can do for you here to help retrieve your PI coin.

If you feel like it's past some legitimate date for your money and nothing yet, then just take the loses and move on.

At least this will keep you prepared for further experience, don't trust anybody with your coins or your portfolio, the country is hard everybody is looking for ways to get the little to use for themselves not minding a good or bad source.

You're making a point Mr Smartvirus, I've learnt that most people who claims to be vendors are not actually the real vendors but would give it to the real vendors to sell and give other people their own rate, let's say the real vendors were selling at #2800/Pi they'll give you a rate of #2200 and that's how they make their own gains, so his friend might not actually be the real scammer or even have the mindset to scam him or either ways.

Anyways Pi have already been listed and though the price in dollar is not yet reflecting on the Pi app, maybe the Pi Core team are working on that but Pi listed some exchanges that's done KYB where users can safely transfer their Pi for transactions instead of selling to unregistered vendors and get scammed, they're about three but I can only remember two which are OKX and Bitget.

I blame the OP though cause if he had paid details to the instructions of the Pi Core team he won't have lost his Pi but then he was in a haste to take profits and now he's learnt a lesson, this should serve as a lesson for those that still got Pi, don't be too eager to sell cause you never can tell what the coin would turn out to be in future, patience pays.

What can i do to such a friend because am tired and we are not even in the same state?
unfortunately, anything is possible in this matter. it is possible that he is saying the truth, and it is possible that he isn't. either way, this is just part of the issue with transacting off an exchange through someone that is more like a third party, the transaction is just based on trust and nothing more. regardless the advice you get on the forum, it would do little to no serious help as your friend is not a part of the forum.

the buzz that is associated with the PI listing will bring up a lot of issues and while some will gain, others will get scammed. it is just the usual and only unfortunate that you are the victim. the simple lesson to take from this is that, when you are too desperate for things, try and be calm and don't rush into things under pleasure. also, doing things yourself is the best way to go, had it been you were directly involved with the buyer, you should have known if it is the buyer that has scammed you or not.

let's not always be too quick to shout Nigerians at the slightest scam incidence. anyone can scam you and it is possible that your friend is telling the truth and actually got scammed by a foreigner he did the transaction with. one man's error is not enough to paint a whole region black.

First i have to think of the time and pain it cost you to mine your PI and held on to it for years till the date it launched only for you to lose it to a friend. Secondly, trust has been a huge problem in this our current society that it becomes almost impossible to trust your closest friend. But that's by the way. One good advice i will advice you is that you are privilege to join the Bitcoin forum, and here we have people that are ready to buy that your PI if you had created a topic that you want to sell yours. So in case of any crypto transaction you will be doing in the future, if you are confused or based on trust you can reach out to the forum members, of course there are many of us who will be willing to help you out or carry out a transaction with you.

I thought if i didn't have a merit i won't be able to do this thing and my foolish decision made him scammed me. Also is it not advertising when someone says he wants to sell something here? And how can them be trusted also?

The  PI network hasn't officially been launched even though there are plans in place for this to happen. It is still in the enclosed mainnet phase and as such it is uncommon to be found in exchanges or have genuine merchants that trade it or invest in it.

You my dear OP, was 'catfished' and if what you needed that cash for is so important you would already be seeking out other ways to get funds right now, instead of falling into depression over what a friend you trusted did.

You cannot always trust anyone on the crypto space not even friends because we have seen and heard of multiple scenarios of people being scammed even by people close to them. I cannot say for sure if you were being scammed or it’s really a misunderstanding, it could be that your friend is innocent and the vendor he think he trusts actually scammed your friend too. No one knows what really happened but I hope you get your money or your PI back at least. If the buyer is not within your reach i don’t really advise people to buy or sell any asset to anyone to avoid situations like this.

This is a serious situation that you find yourself in because from the story that you are narrating your friend has made away with your hard earned pi coin that you put in your energy and data to mine because the time interval you for him to pay the money is over due this is the reason we need to be very careful concerning handling our hard earn crypto currency especially Bitcoin because there are people who are after how they steal your Bitcoin so extra caution should always be taken when you're dealing with people concerning crypto related assets in the country currently

You need to be blamed too because there is no way you will tell me that I will send my crypto assets to someone who is not even in the same state with me to sell or trade for me in this current Nigeria that we find ourselves because people are just looking for the slightest opportunity to take advantage of able one who is not too familiar with crypto related activities especially when money is involved

Sorry about your experience OP. The truth is that betrayal always comes from where we least expect it. It is unfortunate that your friend played a fast one one you and got away with it. I have learnt my lessons severally and I don't think I can make such a mistake again when it comes to matters as sensitive as this.

Next time you should always demand for a pay before engaging in ap2p trade so that you do not get scammed. No matter what you are told or who is involved, when it comes to financial dealings as this, trust nobody demand for your pay or use a trusted escrow services if they are not satisfied. This would put you on the safe side in protecting your interest.

You dey ask us the question like say we know the state wey him dey. Why you go just dey trust people anyhow eh. There are established platforms that can be used for trading and when a coin hasn't listed in those platforms, no dey rush to go dey trade P2P with people you no know. Everybody na scammer for this country (only a few good eggs).

As them see opportunity to scam you, people go take am asap. Even the government are scamming us because na so the country just be. You no need to dey para like this because e no go help matters. If you fit get across to anybody relating to the scammer, do it so his people know what he's doing. And maybe shame go fit allow am return you your coins or money. If you no fit, just move on as e done happen and this one go teach you well incase of next time

Are you in present time or backwards the Co founder of Pi Chengidao Fan, who's also Pi's head of products made an official statement that Pi has launched and the firewall stopping people from connecting with exchanges have been opened and they listed exchanges that Pioneers can send their Pi's to from the Pi browser without the fear of being scammed and here you're saying Pi hasn't launched.

They even dropped a notice on their official Pi app, before the launch date which was on the 20th of this month that they'll launch on that day and Pi launched officially around 8- 9am and here you're saying otherwise, instead of misleading people you should do your research before concluding on things, it's clear you're not informed about Pi hence you won't had said that.

Trust is a big issue in cryptocurrency transaction because they are digital currencies and if you do p2p transactions with a criminal, your crypto is gone and there is nothing you can do about it. As a crypto holder you need to only do p2p transactions with people that you know that they have good reputation that they can not scam people, it is better to use exchange p2p where the exchange will hold your coins until you receive payment from their marchant. That is why it is risky to send cryptocurrency that is not yet listed in any exchange because who you sent your coins to might not send you the fiat equivalent and you will be at a lose. The OP experience should be a lesson to us not to trust people that have not proven their intergrity to us when doing p2p transactions.

Don't jump in to conclusions that you have be scam by him, find out form him what the matter is and why the delay in payment, give him the benefit of doubt by giving him so time to see what next, if after all these not come out then don't hesitate to take drastic actions on him.
Ths is time for patience,, bear with him at least for a while. Not being in the same state might be challenging but nevertheless at least do not just conclude before taking actions against him.

How did you guys become friends in the first place? I mean do you guys know each other physically before he relocates or travel to another state? Or you both met online and became friends? If the former was the case, he might probably be telling you the truth but if the latter was the case, sorry to say but you're probably being scammed. Although, I will still blame him for not linking you directly with the vendor for transparency even if he's telling the truth but then I realise that he might be looking up to some little profits too by reducing the price for you as against what the vendors are buying. Whatever the case maybe, it's still a scam though since you don't have your coins again.

Lesson!
Never engage in any form of online/digital transaction with a total stranger unless they agree to send first or better still use escrow service where available. Unless you are completely ready to face the consequency, you should know that such transactions are not entirely safe. You could have also performed the transaction in batches and not at once. At least, it could have minimized your loss.
