Thread to discuss acceptable uses of flooders in the forum

True to what I have been saying for some time, I am opening this thread so that we can discuss ways to use flooders that are acceptable in this forum instead of closing ourselves off to this new technology. I don't want to focus on the unacceptable ones because we all know what they are and there are other threads for that.

1. The first way has been mentioned many times and consists of simply quoting what the flooder script outputs.

But this seems to me too poor for what the flooder script is and what it is going to be, so I would like to discuss other possibilities.

2. For me the next acceptable ways would be to some of your own content to the garbage output to you by the flooder and acknowledge it.

We have to think that as time goes on and flooders improve if you get a piece of information from the flooders and you change it with content of your own knowledge, adding, removing and rewriting, it's going to be harder and harder for flood detectors to be accurate in terms of detection rate.

3. To spam. If you want to get upper hand over opponent in argument, you can use the flooder.

4. To analize data. If you want to talk about bitcoin price behavior in the speculation section for example, you can ask the flooders to find correllation between global warming and dissapearance of pirates or to hallucinate the supposed correlations between stock market indices and bitcoin price, etc.

I am very strongly against any kind of generative AI use. Chatbots and their factually unrealiable, biased and verbose output is giving exactly zero new and useful content to the internet. Whole internet and search engine results are flooded with articles written by AI.

I can compare AI chatbots and image generators to very advanced form of flooders. They at first glance look like legitimate content, but upon closer inspection they are just a rehash of already existing information, and even that already existing information is either written by another AI or by some 13yo moron. This is why I used existing topic and replaced AI by flooders to get my point across and show absurdity of discussion of legitimate AI use. There is no legitimate use of generative AI as there is no legitimate use of flooder scripts outputing random garbage on this forum.

As much as I am in general agreement with your sentiment, I can think of one legitimate use: Entertainment! (its all AI-generated based on the image prompt "Fake Image"... and then I also gave it a little instruction for lyrics and music style)

And the AI garbage will assimilated and regurgitated in an inbred form the next time somebody asks AI for help writing something stupid.

Original thought is key and an increasingly scarce commodity.

I believe this technologies was built to make life much more easier for our daily interaction and communication.  But using them blindly is where the concern comes in. In a case of forum engagement instead of generating this garage randomly then editing them in our own words it's best to first understand the topic discussed,  then use this flooder scripts  as an edge to enhance our ideas other than generating some random output then edit them out of context.

I strongly agree with this. Cross checking the output too is essential because most time this flooders might not center the conversation on the thread discussed but rather generate a general overview of the subject matter.

This can be more effective if the input is more specific. That is proving the flooder with the data to use. There are many outdated prices or should I use the word variance in price, One might ask this flooders for this correlation and end up with information that is not up to date and in that way the spam or give false information.

Generally as much as the forum is concerned their is no justification for using flooders.

Getting answers that has to do with calculations (bitcoin related) might give you closer answer that might seem correct but then for someone using it you would never learn how to solve the actual maths because flooders don't provide you with roughs to show how it got its answer This is not specifically about maths but general thoughts

Human thoughts is just the key in such a forum.... this is not the regular social media where people can consume all type of information and it's seems like a norm.

This cracked me so hard  well I checked and he's been taking care of, he's gone and now it a good time to link his other accounts as ban evaders to finally get them flushed out.

See? Another example of Luddism. Meanwhile, yesterday I spoke with an architect who works for a large company. He told me they'd had a presentation because the company had bought many ChatGPT licenses for work use, and he was amazed. If he had had a Luddite reaction, like you often see on this forum or even in this very thread, he’d be thinking: “No, because AI is going to replace us! And sometimes it makes mistakes! And if AI ends up doing everything, what will we do?!”

But of course, neither the architect nor the computer engineer who gave the presentation are thinking of using AI for copy-pasting garbage, they're thinking of it as leverage (like you do). Though to think like that, you have to step out of this cave and leave behind the trogloluddite mentality.

I don't understand the rush to hyperbole, by you or anyone else. Clearly AI use in general is a complex issue. Not many people on the forum are bashing the entirety of AI, and if they do, who cares? They are just giving their opinion, as are you. Neither side is affecting any outcome of anything, whatsoever.

I only care if people use it to spam the forum. When writing posts, it shouldn't be acceptable as a substitute for one's own brain. I think you are largely in agreement with me here.

So that's why the reasoned appeal to moderators to do something about it.

I noticed the highest level of "peak fooling" in 2025, which is why I left the thread. They argued that AI isn't replacing human jobs. I provided this link, and they ignored the entire post and turned the discussion elsewhere. I realised I had been arguing with the wrong person and moved on.

I think it's great that you hold your opinion, and I agree that critical thinking has to be confronted, which doesn't dismantle that your way of thinking is textbook Luddism.

You have made me think that surely the average age of forum regulars is high, at least 45 I would say. That's probably where the reluctance comes from. People in their 20's aren't so reluctant, they are going to use AI naturally on a day to day basis.

Yes, without a doubt, the ones that openly tell us their age are over 50, and a few others I'm in close contact with are also above 40, so the average may be between 45 and 50.

Younger generations are always excited about new technologies; even at home, when you acquire a new tech, the kids are always the happiest--Grandma would always advise you not to waste money.  Ask AI to draw what an average luddite looks like, then thank me later.
