And what is the essence of gambling in the first place when the fear of losing money outweighs the desire to win big amount of money?

That person is an ungrateful gambler.
Whatever they put in gamble depends their outcome so, why must he be angry at himself for winning that little amount knowing too well that his input were very minimal. When gambling it's better to gamble with what we can afford to lose than gambling with the amount that is too higher for us lose, okay had he asked himself if he stake with huge amount and happened to lose the bet would he be still angry at himself again?

Because at then he could have been thinking about the huge amount he lost, and will not be happy at himself again, so it's better to use small amounts to gamble and win as well than using huge amount and lose all. Before we go into gambling it's advisable to always have an open heart to accept any loss that we may incur at the process of gambling as gambling is not a bed of roses.

Its not that he doesn't want to win big amount, of course a gambler would want to win jackpot. Only this gambler wants to bet small hoping to win big. If this is his concern, you might as well teach him to parlay so that even if he bet just $0.70 he might just make this amount to $50 depending to the odds.

Fear of losing I think is normal though. But in sports betting, I think one has to trust the team he put his money on.

Yes I also support that as well by using small amounts to bet, it's very simple and easier to regulate their gambling activities using such lower odds and lower amount and even as that it is still not that easy to predict games and raise 5 odds and still have winning from it. Sometimes that could be his last money and the reason we he is pained is because if he had used everything to stake the amout won would somehow be pleasing to him but since his instincts weren't so positive about the game, he did the best of his knowledge and the result he got was filled with regret.  I understand this kind of scenario because i'v  been there before, when you so much desperately desire a win you'll experience so much loses and by the time you give up and start reducing your stake  then comes a great multiplier that would have been considered a huge win if you had put in your usual amount.  Things like this happens all the time but that is also the reason you shouldn't keep your hopes too high in gamble because anything can happen and the result are basically dependent on luck, it's not something you can have control over. But if you keep the amout constant and gamble with the mindset that anything can happen i don't think you'll be upset of what the outcome will be.

If you are a gambler still afraid of losing money, you should not be gambling. Gambling is for those who are mentally and emotionally matured to handle any loss that they make.

When people are gambling they normally know that they have a high risk of losing money and in fact this is an assumption that most of us should have before starting a gambling session. I always used to do that and in fact it didn't work as we cannot control our emotions as great as we think. In fact rage can get the best of anyone of us and we can lose our control and start having fear of losing money. This can lead to destructible sequences for most of us as in such state we can do quite some bad choices that definitely leads to losing more money so yes the fear of losing money in gambling is real.

From what I can see, literally speaking, op still won, he just wasn't satisfied with the amount he won, maybe it wasn't what he expected to get, that's why op was disappointed.

Now, if at the beginning of the game he was afraid of betting a large bet amount, he shouldn't expect a large amount to be won when he bets, unless he's playing slot games where even a small

In this case, the gambler is not afraid of losing money, he obviously gambled with what he can afford to lose and that is why he preferred to lose instead of winning that very small amount. All I see here is a greedy and selfish gambler who wants to make huge amount of money from the small amount he staked. He knows what to do next time so his potential win will be higher. Maybe this time when he stakes a higher amount, he will never wish for a loss again.

That would be the case. He would feel confident this time because of this win and he will wager a bit bigger. Sometimes when a gambler think he need to win big, it become a challenge to himself and let his desire grow.  He might just seek some strategy to use or find a sports bettor as well and just chat for tips.

I believe the fact he was fearful of losing money isn't the problem here, because fear can be a benefical emotion, as it helps us avoiding trouble. The problem is that this gambler is inconsistent, as at same time he fears to lose, he doesn't stop risking money. And at same time he urges to win, he is not satisfied with the winnings he has been having.

Hahahahaha the senerio case is quite hilarious, this kind of conversation is actually another reason why I have always considered gambling more fun than any other thing, such conversation has stirred up a friendly arena for friends to have some chats. However, as regards to his reactions, and the answer to your question, there is no essence for any one to gamble when he is not willing to accept lost, I have always considered any amount I gambled with as a lost in the first place even before the game starts that way I feel more relaxed than overly getting myself worked up wether the bet is going to win or not because my emotions has already been balanced to accept whatever becomes of the outcome, i believe with time he can develop a more sense of maturity in this regards, winning is winning regardless of the amount because it comes with different excitements all entirely compared to Lossing.

If a gambler is afraid of losing money, then he will have a mindset of trying to recover his losses, so he will keep on depositing and find a way to recover those losses. its a risky mindset, not accepting the fact you can lose money, which is why there is a proven saying that we should only play with money that we can afford to lose.
If you're not comfortable with losing, then don't play and just keep your money, but you will not feel the excitement of playing.
