why is he now angry for winning a small amount of money when it's completely his fault?
You can only win as much as you are willing to spend. Yes, sometimes we can win more than we will expect but there is a novelty here and this will not happen all the time so better to not expect it.

He should be happy that at least he has won. And who bets not even a dollar? How scared can you be of losing a dollar lol. Better to not gamble at all if he is going to be infuriating all the time.

A gambler must be ready for anything happen with his money in gambling. If he is afraid and worry about losing his money, he doesn't have to gambling and keep his money. Staying away from gambling will be better for him to avoid the lose from gambling.

But if someone often playing gambling and ready with the lose, he will risk his money and playing gambling without hesitate. He can accept anything happen with his money because he realize that losing his money can happen anytime.

What he need to do is just to prevent using big money in gambling so he doesn't have to lose too big money. Playing gambling no need to fear of losing money and no need to think much about the result that he will get from gambling. He just need to accept the risk of losing the money and enjoy the gambling games.

And the simple question is - Should a gambler be afraid of losing money to gambling? Why not simply stay away from gambling then?

I was In a group chat on WhatsApp yesterday when a member told us he won his 5 odd bet was very angry still, he said it didn't feel like a winning to him and would have been better if he had lost the bet, many of us were surprised as to who in their right senses wishes themself loses in sports betting.

I later tried to find out what actually happened and discovered the dude had only put around $0.7 on the bet and won around $3.5 (amount not enough to even buy him a snack and a bottle of bear), this was the reason he was not happy and wished the bet ended in a loss 😁.

I later in the chat asked him why didn't he bet a bigger amount of money like atleast between $20 and $50, any of this amount would have given him a nice total win amount from $100 and above, he responded saying he initially wanted to bet $15, but he was afraid of losing this money, coupled with the fact that he wasn't also sure the bet would win, and I then asked him, why is he now angry for winning a small amount of money when it's completely his fault? And what is the essence of gambling in the first place when the fear of losing money outweighs the desire to win big amount of money?

It seems that he is not sure about the bet he has placed, by placing a small bet but instead getting a win and the result is clearly not satisfactory because it is comparable to the bet he has placed. This reflects that he does not dare to take risks, but only tries, it is very clear that experiencing defeat is a consequence that we must bear in gambling.

Greed, the major problem of gamblers. It's not only when you win a huge amount of money that you will count yourself as a winner but for the fact that you are able to win more than x2 of your wager amount, it's better than always losing in the chase to win higher amount. That guy is literally saying that the bet could have lost instead of winning that little amount because he actually staked with a little amount, had it been he staked with a huge amount i think he couldn't have come up with such statement. I know the feeling when you want to increase your wager amount in a particular bet but due to fear of losing, you stake a lower amount and the bet wins but it shouldn't make you to regret why you didn't stake with a better amount because if the reverse had also been the case, what could have been his fate, regretting?. Gamblers should learn to be contented and not always have that greed mentality because it has caused a lot of gamblers more pain than good.

Should a gambler be afraid of losing money to gambling? Why not simply stay away from gambling then?

A gambler needs to have confidence when placing bets, but there should always be an underlying fear of losing money.

You see, confidence alone can lead to reckless gambling. When you believe you can't lose, you might end up pushing your luck too far, betting more than you should. But if you're not afraid of losing, you'll never know when to stop. That fear acts as a boundary, a natural check on your decisions, helping you walk away before things gets out of control.

So, it's a balance. Confidence gives you the courage to bet and take calculated risks. But fear — the healthy kind, the kind that makes you respect the game — ensures you know when to stop before it’s too late.

Every gambler would've experienced loss at some point. Looking for a win, every gambler makes a bet without knowing the outcome. If the bet wins, it brings them joy. If not, the same makes them feel bad. Fear accompanies every gambler because of the money involved. For example, if a man wants to pick odds and place a bet with some bonus money provided by the platform or with some free money, the gambler predicts the outcome of a match or event without fear and makes the bet. At the same time, playing with their own money, fear will be there, and sometimes out of fear, gamblers even go with the wrong prediction as their minds won't be free.

I don't really see anything wrong with gamblers afraid of losing money to gambling so they bet in low amounts, it keeps them cautious. that being said gamblers who like to bet on low amounts because they are afraid of losing a lot of money in one bet should also realize that betting in low amounts also means that the money they could win on their bets is also low.

If a gambler is Afraid of losing money to gambling then that person shouldn't be called a gambler. One thing you must accept is that you will definitely lose money in gambling but your losses depends on your risk management. A gambler that tries to avoid losses might end up incurring triple losses, the fear of losing shows a sign of anxiety and emotional instability. If you are scared of losing money then why are you gambling?. anytime we put in money real gamblers know that it's either you win or lose, this is why it's important to be mindful of the amount you stake, bet what you can afford to lose so you can avoid getting tensed up.

And the simple question is - Should a gambler be afraid of losing money to gambling? Why not simply stay away from gambling then?

Fear of missing out, this is not actually applicable on many gamblers because they already have their intentions to why they are gambling, except for those running after what is not in gambling, this has to also come with the kind of mentality we have towards gambling, what is our aim and objectives for gambling, is it for money or for fun, what is the source of our money used for same purpose, is it ours and can we afford the lose in case it comes unexpectedly, all these are what causes that a gambler will never let go on any loss while gambling because they never settled on these.

And what is the essence of gambling in the first place when the fear of losing money outweighs the desire to win big amount of money?
Knowing fully well how unpredictable the outcome of a gambling game is, is enough reason why many people always gamble for safety (i.e with an amount of money they can always afford to lose). Because if this same gambler had lost his 5 odds bet, I'm sure he would have been much happier that he never gamble with his initial $15, more than how sad he claims to be now after winning the 5 odds with a bet stake of $0.7. Because I think it's high time each gamblers need to take full responsibility of their actions and stop playing the blame game, because if it was possible for every individual gambler who won big odds with small amount to reverse, then every gamblers would have been a millionaire by now.

And the simple question is - Should a gambler be afraid of losing money to gambling? Why not simply stay away from gambling then?

Those who are afraid of losing money should stay away from gambling, but the situation in your thread is a bit different in my opinion. Most of us have a limited budget for gambling, and sometimes we are simply not sure about some bets... so when we are insecure (or call it as you like) we place a lower bet, why risk too much if we are not sure? But that's life/gambling! In my experience, whenever (probably in +80% of cases) I was sure in my parlay & placed some higher bet I lost, and when I wasn't so sure & placed a lower bet I won.

So can we draw any conclusion? Maybe it's best to always bet with the same amount of money... there won't be any guilt when we win/lose some lower/higher bet/parlay.

Gambling is a 50/50 thing it's either you lose or win, anyone that's not ready to lose money shouldn't gamble. You are simply taking a risk and hoping to get rewarded if you get lucky. Although everyone is scared of losing especially when you take a very big risk, no matter how experienced you are in gambling, if you stake an amount you are not comfortable with then you'll definitely feel nervous. This is why It's important to gamble for fun, it takes the fear out of it and makes the game more exciting. in my opinion if you gamble In fear then there's no point in doing it in the first place.

I think if a gambler is a newbie in the game, he fears losing his money, but in subsequent time, he gets used to loosing and it becomes his part of life if he didn't quit after a first 15th times of betting.

Not only gambling, if you are new to something, you wouldn't want to loose money on that shit, so it only takes time to be addicted to something where you no longer worry about your hard earned money going to thin air.

I don't know why some gamblers should fear of losing money when they already have an understanding of what gambling is, it's either you win or you lose, but when a gambler is more desperate on avoiding loss, then that indicates whether he is using the wrong fund not meant for him to gamble or he is taking gambling for business and rely on it for his own sustainability.

One on the way to know a responsible gambler is when they are not mixing things up as they gambles, I don't see what should call for a panic when we already know that gambling requires money from us to use and have fun, we don't have to then put our minds on what is not certain that we have to win, instead be more eager to achieve playing for fun.

I don't see any reason why your friend should be angry that he didn't win big. What was he expecting, to win more without betting with a huge amount. Gambling is risk taking and the higher your risk the higher the chances of winning big.

Quote
Should a gambler be afraid of losing money to gambling? Why not simply stay away from gambling then?

Gambling is a form of entertainment that is as old as man. Humans have an inherent behavior to play games that involve taking risks to win more. The level of fear is usually determined by the ability or inability to bear the losses. If you gamble more than you can afford to lose, it might lead to anxiety and worries. But betting little funds doesn't ignite a high degree of fear.

That person is an ungrateful gambler.
Whatever they put in gamble depends their outcome so, why must he be angry at himself for winning that little amount knowing too well that his input were very minimal. When gambling it's better to gamble with what we can afford to lose than gambling with the amount that is too higher for us lose, okay had he asked himself if he stake with huge amount and happened to lose the bet would he be still angry at himself again?

No! Because at then he could have been thinking about the huge amount he lost, and will not be happy at himself again, so it's better to use small amounts to gamble and win as well than using huge amount and lose all. Before we go into gambling it's advisable to always have an open heart to accept any loss that we may incur at the process of gambling as gambling is not a bed of roses.

This is pure significant of one sided thinker's in gambling that always fall prey to be angry when small amount is used and also win small for me show that the person only consider one part and leave the other part of lossing and such always amount to serious losses and such person been addicted to gambling will always be a hard one to control.
The truth remain that once a gambler see gambling as source of making wealth or income rather than fun every situation that relates to small win or lose gets such personality angry and such person also find it difficult to control itself as related to spare money. I concord to your words of ungrateful though I might be wrong but your not far from the truth using that phrase.

He is just someone who doesn't know how to behave, maybe his reason is right, because he only wins a small amount so he is not too happy, but I can guess that he will also be angry when he loses when betting the amount he said he wanted to bet.
He is not a gambler who can afford to lose money so he should not gamble, gambling could damage his mentality, because it is impossible for a gambler to win a lot if he does not dare to risk his money.

To consider the general body of the post, I think the situation of the guy is that he may have been having a losing streak either with huge amount and so he is scared of his next gambling. A point to say nobody knows the outcome of their next bet because if he knew then he would have added more bankroll to be able to win back part of his losses.

However, he is not the only one who gets scared of losing their money when gambling but his case is that with the little he won, he was still regretting and wishing it was a loss.

Therefore, we should learn to stay with the amount of bet that we won't regret if we lose.

It is quite certain that what your friend is doing is just trying to minimize action because of fear but on the other hand he is still trying to be brave by gambling which for me is a little naive and even seems silly.

Not to say anything bad but like the sentence you said in the first paragraph if you are afraid why try to force something that cannot be done from the start.
We know gambling is a situation where defeat is very likely to occur and no matter how hard you try not to lose, it will clearly only make you just wait for defeat instead of avoiding it.
Betting small and winning is not enough but don't dare to bet big for fear of losing. This kind of silliness will only make gambling and the activities carried out will only be slowly destroyed.

One cannot be said to be ready to gamble if he is afraid of losing money, because the basic rules of gamblers must spend money to gamble, therefore the money is already a certainty that cannot be rejected, but here we need to see how someone can set it up if he is not able to limit himself in gambling so that it loses more money than what can be issued by himself so I think that person is also the same as committing suicide and exact losses more than what can be tolerated as a gambler The responsible, it's a bad mental better not at all.
