Maybe his goal is to conserve money and win gradually. I think it will depend on the amount of risk appetite that someone has because that's how you would determine the amount of bet. I think he needs to rethink his decisions and make sure that he is betting the amount he can afford that would give him the highest bet. I bet that he is expecting it to lose and not to win it. Just a throwaway money.

I later tried to find out what actually happened and discovered the dude had only put around $0.7 on the bet and won around $3.5 (amount not enough to even buy him a snack and a bottle of bear), this was the reason he was not happy and wished the bet ended in a loss 😁.

its obvious he is angry while he didn't bet or wager higher while he had the opportunity, only to discover that he has just won after all. maybe if he had bet like $100 with that 5 odd maybe he would have been $400 richer.

Generally, ALL money that you gamble is money that can be literally sent to trashbin.
But in any case, I would just split the question and the wallet in two main block.

First =there is always a sum that is ready to be COMPLETELY LOSE. This is the price that you're paying for the fun, the adrenaline, the passion on your habit.
Second =you must have a clear budget and money management to avoid waste of your resources. And in general gambling must be IN PROFIT - at least for "serious funds".
Of course if you're tossing some satoshi it would be clear that no one wants to get crazy on money management for silly amounts....

The incident is pretty much the same for everyone when we get scared and reduce the amount when placing a big bet, but we win that amount but get very little in terms of getting the trophy because we bet with a very small amount of dollars. Again, many times I dare to bet with more dollars but at that time I lose the bet, this is the rule. In this case, those who have the courage to lose dollars and bet more may get more profit, but in my case, many times I bet very little out of fear of losing dollars but I win that bet.

If it were myself i might feel the same regret why i never put in a bigger amount but i will never regret to have won the 5 odds bet. I'm sure it's a stressed-out person who has a disorder in him. After all, he bet with small money and won, but he wanted to lose. While, from the beginning he chose to bet with small money the reason was the fear of losing, with such a case I believe that person has a  disorder or is just joking. After all,  if the reason is  the fear of losing and still makes a bet even if the win is only with a low profit too, then he should still accept it and there is no need to talk nonsense if he wants to lose. Losses is part of gambling, the unexpected is like a norm in gambling. A gambler should just be prepared for what ever comes out of their bet. As for me, I wouldn't say am totally innocent from this habit and I even don't find it easy to stay calm after I made my bet because I will always be filled with great anticipation for the outcome and when the out is not satisfying to me, I feel bad about it, but I never forget that such occurrences is just part of the game.

When he feels Fear, I think it's normal to feel it, but when you can't overcome it as a gambler, that's not normal. We are just humans and losing money isnt something that we do really like to happen and its a normal reaction we do have even we do deal up with gambling or anything that causes up on losing money or even into investment or business and thats normal.
