Broadcasting company, MultiChoice, has again announced its plans to jack up the prices of its offerings in Nigeria effective from March 1, 2025.

The new prices for DStv and GOtv was disclosed in a statement issued by MultiChoice to its customers on Monday.

The statement, titled: “Price adjustments for DStv and GOtv packages,” read, “Dear Customer, please note that effective 1 March 2025, there will be a price adjustment on all DStv packages.

“This is to enable us to continue to offer our customers world-class homegrown and international content, delivered through the best technology.”

I'm fed up with the ongoing price hike in Nigeria. What do they want us to do? To kill ourselves? The standard of living is not longer affordable, the hope of the common man shattered because there's zero opportunities of making it to the top since everything is increasing in price and values. What's the main reasons why Multichoice is bend on frustrating Nigerians? They did hike the subscription first, nobody did complain because we've seen the downturn movement of the country, but the second hike in price is totally unacceptable. Where are we going? Everything becoming some kind of challenging puzzles to solved.

Check the country's budget, it will quickly noticeable about the dormant movement of the country. Yet, the government and Multichoice will lay down excuses just for their own selfish interest. Well this is my simple advise to Nigerians, survive by all means because this county is not getting any better, probably worse and we know how that sends an indirect message to us, do everything within your capacity to survive because life is really cruel to those people that don't have sufficient resources to take good care of themselves.

Sometimes when service providers and companies increase their price for rendering such service, I don't blame them because themselves need to meet up with expense before talking of profit. Most of the time na government policy dey affect these people. Like now we see how government take increase electricity tariff, fuel own nko. Many expenses dey for companies wey dey for Nigeria. So no be only multi choice dey increase their own price oo, at least all of us dey use MTN and we sabi how dem too don increase their own tariff both for data and call.

I no think say dem go just increase price without the notice of the government. Na two things I just dey reason for this thing, na either the government they get better percentage chop for this thing wey they go their personal pockets or ma the condition of hike in price of things na him affect them too and them need to adjust their own price too. The thing is really getting too much sha but when them explain the matter for you e come be say na them go they at loss if them no increase am, e go turn to us just accepting the new price and move on if we can with them or leave them if we can’t. Is there a governing body monitoring these increase or they just operating as they please?? I get that things are very expensive and all but they just increased their prices last year then why the sudden increase again. Its because they don't have a strong competitive market with other companies that provides the same services otherwise what's with this milking scheme. Besides in my opinion this service should be prepaid service and customers should be charged according to what was used or the amount of hours used because in Nigeria that has epileptic power supply, you make payment for subscription and because of lack of power supply you don't get to use what was paid for, but do they care no. All they think about is how to gather funds.
