According to a popular Nigerian proverb "Fly wey no dey hear word na im dey follow dead body enter inside grave." What this means is, any one that doesn't heed to advice will one day come to a terrible end. I believe some of us are already familiar with the warning not to flaunt our wealth online because of the dangers it pose. For those that are yet to heed to this advice, maybe this story would help you have a rethink. An OnlyFan streamer, Amouranth some time last year tweeted about her crypto holdings, which was basically 211.04 BTC and 22.90 ETH. https://x.com/Amouranth/status/1861163158640926776?t=DtwAQ91qp0_9va1Rs1miBg&s=19As a result of displaying her crypto portfolio online, she was robbed at gun point at her home. She got beaten and also suffered some bruises but thank God she fended off the attack. Below is the video footage of the robbery captured by CCTV camera. https://x.com/Amouranth/status/1896600968797561248?t=d6qtzi7fE9qWT2hjArPp7A&s=19Are you doing it to show off? Think again. Do not put your life and that of your loved ones in danger. Be discreet with your crypto investment.

What I think is that people are generally very careless and not think of safety first before anything. We all know that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies should be hidden from public. The reason is because of physical attack. Even online attack is part of it because hackers can be able to target someone they really mean and the person could make mistake which can make the hacker successful.
I also do post about news like but some people will just not listen until they become a victim. I hope the time someone will lose his or her life for his or her crypto holding for letting people know will not come but I doubt this.
Robbers are knowing already that cryptocurrency like bitcoin is money.

There are enough or abundant Bitcoin and cryptocurrency physical attacks, and many warnings about it, but people don't care and continue to show off their wealth. Not all, but some of them had to and will have to pay expensive costs physically and worse with their lives. Physical Bitcoin attacks.

There is this feeling of always wanting to show others that we have arrived, so that those people will look highly on us some of the root cause of this is inferiority complex. I don't really see the reason why some people will choose to expose themselves to danger all in the name of ego, the person in questions what was the person thinking. It is not every information about ourselves that we should give out, some people are so accustomed to social media that everything about them is on social media. People should be very careful about the kind of information they give out about themselves in order not to endanger themselves.

It seems that she's accumulating beginner's mistakes... Unfortunately for her...
Already showing such a portfolio publicly is a total heresy, we all live in the same world and are all supposed to be aware that large sums can attract problems like a magnet: could be extortion, kidnapping, tax problems, jealousy and so on..
The other major mistake she made from the start is to keep the said funds on her Coinbase account... WTF, keeping more than 200 BTC on Coinbase (or any other CEX account) is just asking for trouble.

Reason is that you don't know your enemy, because the person you think is your best friend that you can discuss your cryptocurrency investment can be the person that will gang up against you to bring you down or steal your cryptocurrency from you. If you can make your cryptocurrency investment secret, I think it will make you to live long to make income that will make the people living in your environment believe that there is a financial increase in you. Beginners need to take advice from this thread to know how to keep cryptocurrency secret not to expose themselves to their enemies, because you don't know who will be angry about your new investment.

There's a proverb saying "easier to get, easier to lose".
This one is the example, she choose the easy way to make money where she only need to show her body to everyone. Since she didn't anyone will do bad to her because she has been showing his body to public since many many years, she didn't expect there are three people want to steal her cryptocurrencies.
It's different with people who make money from the bottom position, they know how to protect their money.

It's always wrong to show off, whether it's about your Bitcoin holdings or bank account balance or gold investment or even talents and skills. There is really no point showing off. Other than the fact that you're attracting criminals and law enforcers alike, you'd only be subjected to all kinds of judgements, speculations, gossips, and whatnot. This is true whether you're showing off openly or anonymously. It's always an invitation to trouble.

No, I don't want to show off my crypto or tell about my crypto to others. I better hide it from people and keep it for myself. I only tell about crypto to my closest people. Yes, we must be wise with our crypto investment. That is a high secret and we must know where we can share.
I don't want to get a bad experience showing off my crypto investment online. That will give risk for me because I will not know who will have a bad intention to me.

I did it in the past when I was a newbie in this market, got my very first profit positions but later profit gone and I got losses like most of other newbies. Later with my experience, I no longer see that sharing my wealth, cryptocurrency portfolio or ROI is a cool practice, but I recognized it as a very risky practice. By being better aware about this dangerous practice, I stopped it many years ago. Looking back on days I did this risky practice, I feel I was very lucky that I did not get any physical attacks and I am still alive now.

Actually its always good to not share any more info regarding your asset or portfolio. With that post of her, I think thats goona be a literally target for bad people. So staying anon and quietly is the best way to keep safe. Yes ite okay to share and motivate others, but always think of your safety regarding this kind of matter.

Anonymity is the best but people will rather show off to feel a temporary sense of superiority. I’ve seen cases similar to this where their accounts get hacked and there wiped off their whole life investments but most will still not learn.

this happens when you are trying to prove a point to the people around you that you are of a particular standard. no one should know what you own in your wallet even if they show you theirs. the mistake some people make is to join in some trend of showcasing how much crypto one ones just for the sake of fun. you might not know the effect until you discover that same people you disclosed your private information to are the very same people that comes after your asset.

Do not put your life and that of your loved ones in danger. Be discreet with your crypto investment. We are living in dangerous world and flaunting to much wealth online will posses huge risk that's why its really better to avoid flexing to much on social media since we don't know what's going to happen around since there are so many evil people around that might attack if they know that we are easy target for them. That situation happen to that famous streamer is another big lesson that we should not flaunt our wealth or at least give them an idea about what we have so that no same situation will happen. I know some people may think posting like that is to show how happy they are for the achievement they get but they should think that we don't control what other people think, so for safety we better stay low key for all the time.

I thought this screenshot was to promote Coinbase but anyone who keeps 200 Bitcoins on that platform probably doesn't care about the basics of dealing with Bitcoin and considers it an investment just like stocks and may not even know how to withdraw to the wallet. For beginners, maintaining your privacy is a priority especially if you live in an area with a high crime rate.

Do not put your life and that of your loved ones in danger. Be discreet with your crypto investment. To flaunt your asset online could be telling us about many things which I will itemize them here on which one could be the reason for doing that. 1. You're been proud and want to show up yourself. 2. You think by showing others you get more influence from public interest. 3. You're either being ignorant of the consequences of doing that or don't even care at all. 4. Maybe such a person is not aware of the importance of privacy in crypto and why it should be in place. 5. The person could be faking it to just deceive others and show them fake evidence of his accumulation on cryptocurrency portfolio.

Immediately I saw the screenshot of wallet and finding out it’s on exchange I immediately thought this person definitely needs more education about privacy overall than just not showing off their assets, this funds can be stolen even without physical attacks through social engineering because I am very sure any hack who gets through the email can get to the account. As for warning against the issue of wallet flaunting I think it is becoming a thing of this generation to either prove a point or force themselves into some kind of social status, all I see most of the times from even Web3 users is bragging and not more, some use this to even gather more gullible followers. This are the reason why hackers, kidnappers are usually announced everyday. Hope this kind of lesson helps the community but I strongly doubt it would

Nowadays, the times and reality we live in are indeed tough. People are being robbed or even murdered for as little as $50 or $100. For this reason, it is wise not to publicly disclose any assets, whether digital (such as bank accounts or cryptocurrencies) or physical (such as cash, gold, or other valuables).
Unfortunately, in my country, we have a "Pothen Esches" (Source of Funds) declaration requirement. Those of us involved in public affairs—such as journalists like myself, who run news websites—are legally obligated to declare everything, including safe deposit boxes, bank accounts, land, houses, and other assets.
