Regardless of what specific angle it is, gamblers in general are all greedy. The fact that you came here to bet because you want to make more money, double or triple your betting capital, that’s already sign of greediness irrespective if the outcome turns out winning or losing. Being smart just develops in the process, especially if you know already how to handle gambling risks well, or being an experienced gambler makes you smarter in the process.

Almost all gamblers are indeed a bit greedy; some just turn out to be more greedy than the others and take more risk than the other gamblers since they are more determined to double their staked money. Some gamblers approach it with less risk, using little money to bet, and can easily cash out when they see good opportunities to do that.

The problem, I think, is that we tend to value people depending on what they have achieved, instead of what they did to achieve it. And, therefore, we attribute to them qualities that in reality depended purely on chance. This is not different from what we do with many successful traders or businessmen, for example, who made the right decision, and they are known as visionaries because of that. But cemeteries are full of visionaries that no one talks about.

I totally disagree with you on what you just said above, because it's not all gamblers who are greedy in the first place, but most just come to try their luck with an amount of money they can always afford to lose. And that is never a sign of greediness. Because according to Oxford online dictionary, we were meant to understand that "Greed simply means an intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. It often involves wanting more than is needed or fair", and as such, it clearly indicate that as long as you are still gambling without a selfish desire of wanting to win more, but gambling what you can always afford to lose. You are not a greedy person, but rather a responsible gambler.

I'm not that much a fan of cashing out because I've seen an amount bigger than my stakes. It doesn't make much sense to me while I still have other games running. The only exception to this of course is that my cashout option is up to 80% of my pot. winnings or more, then I can convince myself that even if the game finally wins, I am loosing only 1/5 of the total price. I've cashed out many times and the games converted, I don't think I'm cut out for that regrets anymore.

Losing the money at the end isn't challenging at all to me since I gamble already with an amount I can afford to loose. We are gamblers and we entertain losses, but to me it is more painful you lost a good hit because you ended up cashing out too early.

In my opinion, cashing out or not on sports betting is not about greed but more about the preferences of each bettor, there are bettors who prefer small profits but there are those who feel that if they have chosen to do multibet then they must do it until the end even though there is a chance of losing the profit that is already visible, or it could be because the bettor is quite confident with the remaining bets.
Greed is when you are in a winning condition and continue playing because you think you will get more profit, meaning you can't control yourself.

While I might consider the guy that cashed out on his/her bet to be smart, I would see the person that did see it through to be some die hard gambler. It’s what I expect of most gamblers anyway. The functions are there, cash out, insurance and whatever there might be to mitigate against them losses.
Having to cash out just before it becomes a lost bet is smart move but, doesn’t make you hardcore. Staying to see it through does because, you’ve just got to go with your prediction.

It is pretty funny how your odds end up measuring you up in the eyes of others. No gambling is "smart" there is always a risk to lose everything. If anything gambling is a really dumb thing to do for the most part. People lose all their money, and they spend their whole paycheck to "get back in the game" and they lose that too. I agree with that. But there are other ways that we could use gambling for good. Sports for example. When you have been following a sport since you were a kid, there will be a time that you will get bored with it. I did. But after I bumped into sports betting, everything was spiced up again. I get to check the rosters, updates, and injuries, and watch the game more because my money is also at risk while watching the game. Then, I get to cheer better for my favorite team because my money is also on the line. There were times before when I watched a whole game without any emotion anymore but thanks to sports betting it became lively again.

Yes I suppose that is one way to look at it and a great example of a way to use gambling as an instrument to try to add a little kick to your weekend enjoyment and sports game outing festivities. Gamblers are always gamblers but we know that some gamblers can hold their greediness not become big. They know how to control their greediness and use their smartness to prevent the big lose. They can think much about what will happen to them if they follow their greed in gambling so they will hold them back from gambling and leave gambling if the situation is not good for them. Gamblers enjoy a joyful moment in gambling, they want to master gambling in such a way that whether it is greed or smart, there are all aspects, they mix gambling with their life. I think gamblers create traps with their intelligence in the game of gambling which attracts other new gamblers. Although most gamblers lose their money in gambling, they continue to play intelligently. I have seen many become financially destitute due to this but they continue to gamble even after that.
