I am convinced that no matter how high the RTP (Return to Player), the house always has an edge, this is given.
Meaning in the long run, the casino wins.

You have pretty much figured it out by yourself.

What matters the most in the end is who gets the best odds. And in this case it is the casino.

If you flip a coin you get 50/50 chances of getting it right, in the long term you will not win or lose money if you keep playing with those odds.

If you have less than 50% chances of winning in that game, then in the long term you will be losing all the money you bet.

That's just how it works. In a simple example like this it is obvious, but casinos try to make the odds as difficult to understand as possible, while keeping an advantage to them.

It’s a trap because high RTP gives us the illusion that we can find a way to win, which leads to gambling more, and the more we gamble the more we lose. This mostly applies to those who lack discipline. High RTP is definitely better, but it still depends on the game itself.

No, that doesn't really matter because playing slot games and win, you need luck which you don't know when that will come. You can see how high or low the RTP but you can not expect that you can win easily because all will depend on your luck.

To be honest, I think RTP is just a number many casinos publish to make their players feel good. Wherever I play in 7 or 8 of 10 cases I never come even close to the advertised RTP/house edge, that's just how it is.
I only play originals games like dice, plinko, coin flip and stuff like that and in most sessions, even though the winning percentage is on my side (51-55%) I am mostly losing like 55-60% of hands, having a difference of at least 10% between advertised house edge and actual one. Sure it's alway/often a matter of small sample size but I mean I am not stupid, when you lose 70% of sessions the sample size gets bigger and bigger but it just doesn't even out, not even close. For that reason I kinda turned my back on all those games cause when you can't win, or rarely do, it's not worth even trying much longer.

Since I'm not really a big fan of slots, RTP doesn't matter that much. But I guess some of those who are mainly playing slots, RTP matters. If the difference is negligible though, like 1% or less, then I guess slot players wouldn't mind choosing that which is more fun even if it has lower RTP. But if the difference is significant, say, one is offering 98% RTP or above 97% while the other offers 91% or 92%, many might choose those with higher RTPs, especially if they're playing with a big bankroll.

Without any doubt, RTP is an important characteristic. When people think about house advantage, it should be borne in mind that not all players will lose "over a long distance", maybe you will be the guy who wins. The importance of RTP is easy to see in the example of slot machines, for example, I know of cases when scammers set them up so that the RTP was conditionally not 95%, but probably 5%! That was, of course, more than a couple of decades ago, when fraud became widespread, and the number of gamblers who lost absolutely everything and got into debt also grew exponentially. Then the state banned slot machines altogether.

I think it depends on what kind of player you are. For me RTP doesn’t matter. Maybe if you’re in it for the long run and care about maximising your chances then higher RTP games make sense. But for someone like me who’s just a casual player it’s more about the entertainment factor than the numbers I don’t even know the formulas or calculations behind it.

I personally think RTP is quite important even though there are some slot games that show high RTP but from each spin it does not show good results, from some of my favorite games in slots when showing high RTP then I can get greater percentage of returns from each spin.
This is only based on trust and how each individual approaches the assessment of how game works, indeed it is not guarantee to be able to get big win and profits but with the return it will save more money and we do not lose more capital in certain time.

Actually, I only recently learned about RTP since I don’t really play slots that much. If it were sports betting, I’d probably be more familiar with every detail.

It is on this forum that I am seeing people that are posting about it like they can not do without it. I go to casino to play the games that I like. I do not know their RPT at all and I do not need to know it.

While playing slots, if I do not like a slot game, I change it to another one. That is how I did it when I was a newbie in gambling. Because some slots can be frustrating.

As you wrote, most of us just go for the slots we like to play. I guess it's not a big deal to check the RTP of every slot and to try and play the ones with the highest RTP, later you can try some riskier slots with high/extreme volatility... after that you will have your own conclusions & opinion about how much RTP really matters.

I have played both... if we are lucky we will win whatever slot we play, but if we are having a bad day any slot (even the ones with the highest possible RTP) will take a lot of our money, sometimes even our entire balance.

I would like to post here a debate of mine that is a couple of months old, which took place in one of my threads. I think anyone who is alluding to chasing RTP will have a more informed perspective after reading this. I will be very pleased if you can add your opinions as well.

I will take the word, 'caricatured' as a compliment (unless you correct me otherwise ). Yes, of course, you can win money playing lotteries and lose with pocket aces in poker but one has less than one in a few hundred million chance (national lotteries) and one has over eight over ten (more than 80%) chances to win. Repeat both a few hundred times and you will see the difference.
One more thing it is not just about winning a big prize money one time, what you will do with it also depends upon your personality. I mean most lottery winners go broke within a few years. .

I just wanted to say it's not as simple as that otherwise nobody would gamble, or only very dumb people at most. RTP of slot games is calculated and tested on very large amount of rounds for example. Not dozens or hundreds, not thousands either, but dozens of millions of spins actually and even billions sometimes. So, how many players are actually gambling tens of millions of times on any game during their whole life? If you need such amount of rounds to reach the theoretical RTP of a game, you are very likely to get another one when you will stop to play. Some casinos, like Bitcasino for example, monitor in live the RTP of the games they offer and publish their values. And as you can see, on a whole month the total of all users RTP can be very positive while the game has a negative EV actually(-0,045).

I have bolded out the fundamental premise of your argument. It can be categorized as a classic gambler fallacy. RTP (house edge) will be the same for each bet. Now you can run it million, billion trillion times and all you will see is more and more evidence of it. It is not that RTP is calculated based on millions of spins, we do millions of spins to check whether the intended RTP is there or not. Slots are designed in a way that every spin will have the same probability of paying out X RTP.
Just to make it clear here is an example of dice gambling;
Let's say you are betting for 6 to come out. Now every roll (spin) will have the same probability no matter how many times you roll it. The more you will roll the better coherence with the theoretical probability you will see.
The example you have provided regarding fluctuating RTP is nothing but manipulation by casinos to lure players into believing that a particular slot is hot for that particular time. It just shows how much a few players are paid based on short-term variance which might be positive or negative. Theoretical RTP will always be the same because it is based on the design of the slot not based on the number of spins or the amount of money you put in.

Is there any game that guarantees a good RTP? I guess none, every game RTP depends on the luck factor of that player, so I don't even see enough reason to even put that into consideration. Sometimes I go for games with higher RTP just for the fun of it and the feel-good knowledge of a possibility of winning big,

It's better to settle for the game you love, and for me that's sports betting. If my luck shines, then I may have a good RTP, else, the fun continues regardless.

Honestly they always have a way of luring and trapping gamblers and even with the higher RTP there would be losses and I think the casinos are always at advantage of getting profits other than the gamblers. So RTP doesn't necessarily matters to me and exactly i stick to what I know best, enjoy the moment and forget that the RTP thing exist and if it's favourable while playing then it's cool.

I totally ignores the attraction of RTP because it's a lure of leading players to spending excessively in a long run and at the end of it you'll still not be be sure of winning to the extend of making instead you'd loose in the quite a long run.
I foresees that RTP term to be strategies of holding players down with the anxieties of hopeless expectations. It's very tricky that the house edge will always be at the safer side.

You have to play on a game that you know how to play and also have fun with if at the end the odd or RTP is high that's your luck. But definitely, the casino still has the house edge out of how many times you want to play.

Meanwhile, it will amount to trying your luck blindly if you choose a game just because of the RTP. I like to stick with what I know and enjoy playing.
