Leadership have never been any simple.
 Day in day out a leader is expected to give
 their best even when the supposed support
by the followers are discouraging.
However, three words can describe a great leader.

What makes a great leader?

courage = the leader face the matter at hand,
speaking their minds about their duties and that
of the others.

 and what needs to be done.

First of all a leader should know that he is not a leader because he is in charge and in absolute control but rather should bear in mind that he is there to serve the people and not to treat the masses like a trash can. Our politicians need to know more about this so they don't treat their voters in an inhuman manner.
Servant leadership is one of the best descriptions for a great and good leader and that's what everyone want to see but not the opposite.
A great leader with a difference is one who is able to come down and give a listening ears to his followers and not to use power to oppression his opponents.
Should be able to listen to constructive criticism and ensure he does follow up on what the positive outcome should be

Sadly this days we do get some supposed leaders who are rather pure politicians who does what they want and wish as it goes in their best interest rather thwn what the people need. There is a long gap between most of the leaders we have and the people. The people rarely have access to them in communicating their challenges and how they would want it to be treated. And this is due to the erroneous mentality about leaders seeing themselves as masters of the people instead of servants to the people who ought to listen to them and communicate with them sharing in their needs directly.

Communication is very important, this is why it's learnt as a course in the university, it goes beyond knowing how to speak fluently but in a more deeper sense it's all about knowing what to say at the right time.

i think also a leader you have to know when to stop speaking and start listening instead because as a leader you also have to know what the people needs and wants so you can effectively implement policies that would help the people the most

a leader that does not know how to listen is a leader who would not know how to lead his people

For me what makes a great leader is his ability to be human. Because some people get into leadership and they turn beast. They don't listen to the public, they are not sympathetic,  they are opposite of human, they become more like devils assistant. I think a leader is human and serves humanity, they know integrity, honesty, courage,  listening to the public and helping etc. so a good leader is a good human.

There are different leadership styles suitable for different people, situations, goals and purposes. A good leader does not blindly exert authority, he studies his followers to know the right approach to work with them, he leads with purpose and can switch between different leadership styles to suit every situation on ground.  This is just what makes a great leader.

The worst mistake a leader can make is imposing principles and rules on his followers simply because another leader did it and it worked for him. Same principle might become a disaster if the goals are different and the principles are not suitable for the kind of people he is leading.

Great leadership requires selflessness, dedication and commitment. Leadership is way different from rulership.

Adding up to what our brother said, there are some other qualities a good leader need to possess as well, such as:
Easy access : a good leader ought not to be hardly access, when a leader is easy to access his followers or subject have more opportunities to tell him what they want, there problem or challenges is been poured out for solution.


Must not be selfish :A qualified leader must have the interest of is subject at hands first before any other thing.


Sacrifice :A qualified leader must be ready to sacrifice all for his people's, his time, energy, service etc.

However, to be a good leader you must.. kill your own personal interests and have the interest of your subjects first.

A leader is described by their distinctive qualities and not just mere positions. It takes a whole lots of responsibility to be a leader, not so complex, but genuine and trustworthy enough to carry people along while working in the interest of the larger population than a group of friends and family.

Leadership starts from home, how you treat your family, how you commit to your family's success. The same goes with the leaders of communities, states, counties and nation at large. At any step, you need to be able to stand in and protect the interest of your people.

We don't have no such things again, I think the reason why we have this kind of leaders in our time is because we are in the time where the people can't even choose a leader for themselves,  a leader who is capable of doing the assignment and duties of leaders .
