You may recently get offer by a anonymous account with a telegram premium offering you to buy your username like this. They will offer you a hefty amount of TON for your username which may youre not even expecting. They always offer you 100-1000TON. Once I got 1000 TON offered. Let me tell you their tactics, even though you maybe aware enough it's scam but how they will approch to you at a certain point you may start believing in certain points. They won't ask you any fund starting , even they will negotiate with you like a real buyer. He even tell you to list it if you know how to buy sell username in fragment. They will ask you ton wallet address which you used on Fragment. After you list it on Fragments they will tell you that I just bid/offered you please accept it. Actualy bidding works like this, if you opened your username for bidding anyone can bid it for their acceptable price. Can you tell if this one is fake ss or fake offered he showed you? Basically they give you the link what you wants from Fragment. But wait dont jump over and fall for it. In Telegram you can sent any text and bind that text with a link, that's what they do . They send a fake link text which didn't even exist but in that text they created their phishing website link which is a copy of Fragment. It's exactly copy of fragments you can't tell it if you're not aware of the Site URL. . That's not it, which even more amazed me even I believed it for a second . I blocked that contact cause I know it's a scam. What that scammer did next was un expected . After blocked , a new message appeared on my telegram from Auction Alert it's same like if Telegram send you any official text . It had me fooled for a second . If I confirm the offer it's redirect me to my wallet. But what I know for sure is theres nothing goes for easy money. So I tripple checked and found that it's a fake account. I even helped a lot of people those who are even willing to pay them a little amount of fees. So please be aware of these scams. Just remember in this world there's nothing like free money or easy money. And lastly If you're getting these type of Texts a lot, what you can do then? Just list your Username on Fragment, then scammer will less appear on your wall. I've listed my username after that I don't get any offers like that anyomre.

Scammers have become much smarter and harder to detect. But if you're careful, you can outsmart them. It's very admirable to be able to grasp enough of the details you have provided. Thank you for sharing it here.
Crypto is a digital currency that requires only a private key or passphrase to access. So if someone gets hold of the private key of someone's wallet then they can transfer the crypto in that wallet. So everyone should use a main wallet which he will never connect or use anywhere. And need to use separate wallet which regular use and no funds in it. and always avoid any link which will provide any unknown person

For those who have never traded their usernames on fragment it is not as easy as you say. You may have the idea and knowledge that username are getting tarded on fragment so it's the valid platform. But you may never know that the person is scammer. And it's not un usual that your getting offer for usernames. A lot of people do buy username for their business/personal liking . If your username not listed on fragment they won't be able to bid it. So that particular individual have to ask you to list it on fragment so you both can tarde.

I got the same offer where they send you to the fragment.com as well but i tried logging in to the fragment using my telegram, there was no offer.
Also if they offer something big, they always want their own escrow which I don't think either. The amount is hard to ignore actually, just like OP he was offered 2000 TON all for the telegram username, that's really something. They offer me 700 TON, that's still big of a username. I have to ask why when they can create their own?

I also get offer 600 ton although my expectations was 100TON . Thank you for pointing this out, many new users may find it useful. Many even find unique names to sell usernames so that he can sell these usernames later. If he is new to this path, he may easily fall prey to scams Selling usernames is a legitimate activity. But some people have come up with a way to exploit this and use this system to scam newbies.

A similar thing happened to me last month were scammers pmed me that they were contacting me on behalf of their client who requested to purchase my telegram name and was offering me a mouth-watering price just to get at me but I told them I could only sell me account for 10 BTC and they ran away. They thought I was like others out there that they were able to scam and hack their telegram account. here is the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5528991.0Currently, I came across a post on one of the WhatsApp channels I belong to that they have been able to program it in a way that once you just click on that link they sent to you attached with the price offer or request, automatically, your account is gone so anyone who receives such should do a proper verification as no body genuine person would pm you to purchase your user ID, if they want to purchase your user ID tell them to go to https://fragment.com/ to place their offer then anything that comes up from there you know its legit but if they pm you, just know they are scammers.

TON tokens in exchange of username. They ask to change the ownership of the username to them. Well if the escrow is not someone you know, you might as well think its their alt who are escrowing the transaction. Its a too good to be true offer. An attractive username with an exact word like @cryptoholder would be valuable. As far as I know this username was auctioned in fragment and the bidding price reached up to 11k TON.

It’s more about obtaining their target's Telegram username. Once they acquire it for free by tricking the user with a high auction offer, they can then use that previously owned username to scam others on Telegram, particularly the victim's contacts.

Oh is that it? I was actually thinking the username can make them get something better off I don’t know of that they’re so interested to own the username for themselves through scamming the user. I think these scammers actually cheap ones looking to scam victims contacts of few bucks of dollars. If they really want to scam huge amount of money through this persons, they will look for an influencer big name account, with that they can get to scam their contacts easily maybe due to the trust they have on the persons account. Either ways, we need to be educated more of the most prevalent scam techniques to avoid falling victims.

It's just like impersonation I believe. This particular trend of scam was more active on social media platform like Instagram but for that they just clowned the or recreate a fake but simply handles then add up those supposed friends of the account and what they do is that they claim it's their new account that the old one got hacked or something else like one cooked up story, and they start hitting up the real account friends and followers checking to see if anyone would be gullible enough to fall for their scams.

Yes, I also often get similar fraudulent chats, and more often the method they use is " Phishing" which imitates a genuine site. As someone who often uses telegram, I am used to it so I can distinguish between fake and real, the easy way is to right-click on the link they provide, or we can open the link they provide in a private/incognito browser mode. The way they do it in telegram chat is by changing the format in the create link menu in their writing/chat, and then entering the original link in " Text", while the contents of the " URL" are the phishing link they provide, so that what is displayed to us is the contents of the Text (for more details see the image below). Therefore, we need to be careful about anything, don't get caught in fraud, because we know there are so many types of fraud, especially in cyberspace.

So the aim is to scam you of your username so they can use it to extort money from your friends? Well it's a quite cheap but risky scam. Assuming they succeed in using your account to collect from people you know and they don't get warned by you, that means they too are at a risk of losing money. It's sad that we keep hearing about these scams and they emanate from telegram. Is there no security measures kept in place to protect users from falling to these scammers?

I also quite often get fishy things like this, I was once offered to be part of a team in a Ponzi project but I refused even though they promised to give me 1 ton per day.
Fake accounts are the ones that often appear on Telegram, they impersonate and claim to be from big companies or prominent people, there is no big reason to trust the impersonation of the account, just ignore all their fishy offers.

At first why will anyone be willing to sell their telegram username? I dislike the fact people no longer take their private information personal just because they want a huge amount of money. It doesn’t sound right for example getting a strange text requesting me to sell my username honestly I might end up reporting the account if only telegram will take an action which I find useful in order to protect others who no nothing about scam experience. From my observation this scam practice seem slow perhaps op made every step difficult else they’ll never bother using a fake account, it’s more like a hack practice but, this time they needed the help of the user I guess they started this for long and I’m not surprised if others fall for such.

Telegram scammers are not the brightest.
They are so easy to detect, you can even see that they do not put a lot of effort into it. Anyone who takes their time to read inbetween the lines can tell apart a Telegram scam.
And even telegram, I think has made it kind of easy to even detect these scams without clearly specifying it.

This type of scam has existed for so many years now and I have seen people get scammed with this fishy links, all the fishy links has drainers embedded in them hence you click them they immediately start monitoring your device to get hold of your assets.
It's very easy to drain wallets with this fishy links but perhaps it's only someone with so much greed will fall victims of all this scam because the offers are high to be real.

The only reason their wallets get drained is when they approve or sign logins using their Web3 wallets. The reason this happens is the temptation of the rewards they can receive. For me to prevent these types of scams, people or communities related to crypto should be properly educated. Many don’t realize that when they sign or approve a transaction on a blockchain like Ethereum, they could be granting dangerous permissions. But even those who are already educated about these things still get hacked or scammed because they genuinely believe the site they visited is legitimate. If I’m not mistaken, this is what’s called a phishing link.
