You know the saying OP, that no one is a monopoly of knowledge, I believe that the same thing goes for information too because it’s from information we gain knowledge. So, everyone has one or two things to teach or contribute to others in order to help them make better choice, regardless of their present or past financial status. Even those who have been poor and are still poor or somewhere around the middle class still have things to teach others.

I think you're very right in this, for me I will say that we all need each other to grow financially and otherwise, learning is a process so I think the process comprises both the information we gather from people and the one we dig out personally and that's what helps us to make good decision on the steps to follow so that we won't be victim of circumstances but the truth is we can't also dispute what the op is saying, we can actually learn from people that has a story to tell about their countless failed attempt or even total failure itself, individuals can also learn from their failure but my problem with learning from past mistakes is that you may not actually make it right as it is before because most times lost opportunities can never resurface for reason best known to nature.

As we put it this way, everyone has their own fair share of life's lessons. So what we can do is be open to the suggestions or opinions, and then, just filter out what you need in your life. Because not all lessons learned will be applicable to your case. You are the one who can determine if it is applicable to your situation or not. Each individual will have their own struggles in life and so with their acquired knowledge and skills to combat those challenges. But if you will now look at your very own situation, you need to gauge what particular solutions you can apply to emerge victorious from your own predicaments.

We should always be aiming to absorb wisdom from people who have forged a successful path in life, however there are so many posters and fakers on social media these days it can be hard to distinguish the real winners. I would want to hear the stories of the once successful person who ended up failing but I would not take any of his financial advice since he didn't go ahead to implement them to get back up, so his advise is not very practicable.

I might be wrong, but when I was learning the ropes, I consumed massive amounts of trading literature. It was packed with negative experiences and endless advice on how not to trade.

I have always shared in the opinion that a man that always succeed at everything he does will be limited in knowledge as to what failure entails because i n failing, we learn things about life and in the process gain a balance that success alone does not reveal to us. What you are talking about even has a scientific name - “survivor bias” - a cognitive bias in which conclusions are made based only on successful examples (survivors), ignoring unsuccessful ones (those who perished). This creates a false picture where success seems easy or inevitable.

I believe that in as much as we want to learn from successful people, it is also good to learn from people who were successful and later failed. Because they are the ones to help guide you against making the same mistake they made that led to their downfall, what to do and what not to do.
