I no no if na old story but just on the 10th of march GLO one of the Nigerians favorite network service introduced what we can an E Sim which means Electronic Sim. This sim can be operated used without inserting any physical card in your device. The idea na say for those wey they like travel but no they like carry multiple phones or sim card can go along with one device that serves multiple e sim inside of it.

Since data cost done increase so much like this GLO say dem go give 5GB data bonus to all customers wey go activate e-SIM and with a data plan of at least N1,500 every month.

As i dey reason i come they believe say soon na e-Sim go they all over Nigeria since GLO done start other network fit start here.

I do not remember the year MTN has been supporting e-sim but I think it should be more than 3 years now. But what that happens is that not all phones are supporting it. Those flagship phones and very few flagship killers that are supporting it. I have not yet seen low budget phone that is supporting it.

Na the first time I de hear of an E-Sim be this and from the look of things, e no go bad say we get that kind alternative to the normal plastic sim. But coming from glo angle, they need to first work on their network so people can enjoy their service first before talking about a drift into using of the E-Sim. Because of how bad their service de be most times, I no de even take them serious because at the end of the day, the 5GB data bonus no go last like wetin just 2GB MTN data subscription go last.

Since na wetin you fit login without necessarily inserting a physical sin card, the issue of theft and best way to handle the security of your simcard go be another issue make person no go de login your sim into their phone without your knowledge.

Never used e-sim before but I have a friend that have and he shared his experience with me. While it's not too novel or innovative, it's just a matter of convenience. For me, I never really get any need to use e-SIM. So it's future, remains to be seen. I also wonder how old folks will adopt it too.

Will need to read up and learn if e-sim will help with stuffs like sim swap and other issues that physical sims have plus recovery if the phone with an e-Sim get lost.

To me we are not ripe for this kind of innovation because we have not been able to even get a stable good network supply as a country so before we talk about having e_sim let us first of all address the issue of bad network in the country because to make calls and browsing some  days is a big problem in the country so glo should first of all see how they can improve on their services because their services are poor.


Personally speaking I don't see the importance of this so call e_sim to us as a country because we have not developed to that point government has alos failed to bring these service providers to book for the poor services that they have been offering to her citizens if not Nigeria as a country should have passed this level in terms of having a good stable network connection

So waiting you they talk be say if person get that e sim you no need to buy another sim if you find yourself outside Nigeria?, I no believe say e go they possible because them fit no use the same network the e sim they use here, I for say make them leave e sim make we just they use the one way we done they use to, even this manual sim they are having network problem all the time, abi na online one them no go get.

The 5 GB na just to make people rush they open am but for me e no they move me like that until I done see people way they use am and how different it will work from the traditional sim method we are using now, I no say MTN too go they talk about emulating them very soon.

To me glo na disappointment for the industry wey them de. I bin tink say na dem go be better competitor wit MTN as dem be indigenous network provider but dem never live up to expectation. Dem need to upgrade seriously on d network so dat all those their plenty innovation wey dem dey showcase go dey well utilized.

This e-sim now, na which better network wey dem get to make sure say with one phone you fit link up other sims and network no go begin fluctuate.

I remember na dem make MTN begin per second billing when MTN tell Nigerians say e no possible to dey charge per second, and GLO start up with per second billing. But since then GLO get few mask wey dey under their contract, most of the mask na MTN contractors dey manage dem.

I don't expect Glo network to be this fast than MTN network when it comes to new service innovations and developments like this, this is one of the reasons why e should value and appreciate our own home made services and network which is glo, MTN being a South Africa network service is taking enough capacity in Nigeria being the lead of them all, yet you scan still discover for some lapses in terms of their quality service delivery and new innovations from the use of the network, while Glo is more well to do when it comes to user's data, network and cal tariffs, compared to the exorbitant demands from the use of MTN service charge, e- sim will grant every individual the ability to get the best out of what they have anticipated from, in using their preferred network without a barrier.

E sim is a good idea,  but personally I don't see the need now. Also Glo network is really messy currently and they're customers can hardly use it, so there's no motivation to even go for such technology even if it's available since you cannot go get what you cannot use.

Is Glo planning to raise some certain capital with this, since the setup of the e sim may not be entirely free.

MTN has been using eSim for a while, I had a friend that used a Samsung phone that had eSim, but my issue is not the eSim or microSim, it is the network and the price of data that is the issue. 

All this network providers, their network is in the mud especially glo network can disappear for a whole day and they are here introducing eSim when they should be making their network stable and working on the price so that it will be affordable.

I feel like these network providers increased data price on purpose so that people into tech will have no option because you need data to be online. Nigerian brands just know how to do what is in their mind and not what the people need.

Na my first time be this wey I Dey hear am, the one that I know is the one you will buy that have 2 SIM card inside and if you buy card your card go Dey last very well, the way GLO Dey do now you think say it will go far, because all this our Nigerian network no Dey do something wey Dey go far, in just short time now them go change their mind say them no Dey give bonus again, I believe say na because make them get customers.

If the remaining Network wants to do it they will just do it because they should also get attention of customers and it will not last, na network issue we Dey talk about and if E sim be as you just talk everybody go wan buy am and after some days the network go tired of giving bonus because na bonus we like for Nigeria, anything Awufu we Dey there.

Glo data is still very much affordable compared to other network providers. My problem with Glo is just this their network issues. Glo is never reliable and they should fix that and stop introducing e-sim. The physical SIM that they are operating is not even working well is it the e-sim that will work well. On the area of network providers increasing the cost of their data, they had to because their staffs will be asking for salary increase, and the operation cost is also increasing, due to the bad economy. And with different taxes flying around the country, if they don't increase the cost of their products, they might be out of business soon. Were it's paining me the most is that after paying for these things, you will end up being frustrated with their epileptic service delivery. We have agreed to pay the new rate, but stop giving excuses why your services are not working.

From my own perspective the demands of E sim technology it kind of not utilize well the glo system has made it difficult for their use to engage in E sim technology effectively, well from my thoughts the E sim might be limited for users not everyone can be able to afford it the fees is kind of to costly and prising plant maybe to costly

I hope the Nigerian government and cybersecurity can handle it because e-sim attracts more risk than the physical sim. I've read enough cases of easy hacking and evil perpetration.

In all, phone companies may fade away the physical sim with time, we are getting there.

You're right, all new technologies bring new benefits and also some disadvantages. E-SIM can take the same attitude. Nowadays, more money is transacted through mobile banking. Most of the security of which depends on OTP. And we all know that OTP is always on the SIM.  If we use e-SIM instead of using physical SIM, will it really be safe? Because e-SIM is controlled by a software. Now if for some reason that software gets hacked, then where will our security be.

Another thing is that e-SIM login will have some verification system through which verification can sometimes take 30 minutes to 2 hours. There may be some other disadvantages that I am not fully aware of.

In my opinion, we cannot let our security slip just for 5 GB free internet.

MTN I think is the first network provider in Nigeria that first introduced e-Sim to their users. Just like you said, it's actually supported by high technological performance phones like the Samsung Galaxy and S series, iPhones and the Google Pixel Pro series. I know the other top smartphone brands that are already advertising to flood the market with their e-Sim series but I doubt they'll be as high performing as the above listed three brands. However, I believe in no distant time, e-Sim usage will become very common among Nigerians.

MTN introduced the e Sim technology as an demonstration to company's commitment to innovation and to provide accurate fast speed network and also more Nigeria are being to become more aware of the e Sim technology and the demands os becoming increasingly driven MTN innovation and investment sectors.

When I first read about this e Sim, this is the first thing that came into my mind, for a country that struggles with bad networks having a sim that requires such a network to be active makes a mess of the whole situation, and the reason why e Sim have not been popular since its introduction in Nigeria is because of those limitations that come with them such as bad networks over the various networks that we have.

Nigerians will have to bear with a lot of things and avoiding this so-called e-Sim is one of such developments that Nigerians should be skeptical about since we have a poor technological environment to accommodate such high-tech demanding development.

Your right because Glo network is one of the worst network that you can ever use especially when it comes to browsing it can be frustrating sometimes because you can actually have a data but you can't really do anything with your data due to bad network, accessing the Internet with glo is a problem and they really need to improve on their services because more people are getting leaving their net.


I will still blame government in this issue of failure of service providers to live up to their responsibilities because government has not taken a stand on it they like the way that the citizens are complaining this may be due to the fact that key government officials may have links with some of these service providers
