My idea would be a BBQ / Picnic at a nice park (Mont-Royal? or Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville or someplace like that) next summer, in or around the island of Montreal
Have some beers
Eat some good food
Laugh at how stupid we were for not buying 1000 btc at 3.90$

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

This looks like it might be a fun event. Perhaps another Bitcoiner living in western side of your country may have a BTC BBQ in BC, CA, the same time you have your BTC BBQ on IoM, QC.

Come to think of it, this is an excellent idea, Adam. Simply set the exact date where others can organize a small BTC BBQ outing at the same time in their own little corner of the world if the nearest one is too far away to attend. It looks like you have Eastern Canada sewn up or, at the very least, Quebec. I believe I can handle the Chicagoland area here: http://www.sandwichsportsmansclub.com

My intent is to not hijack your thread or idea, but to complement it. If you think it's a good idea, start a thread entitled BTC BBQ, thus seeing if there's an interest, then we can start getting organized if there is. Think of it as the first-ever coordinated Global BBQ of its kind.

Odd! I'm eating a bagel with liver sausage as I read this post. Are you spying on me, Portnoy?

I'm still waiting for a date so that I can organize a BTC BBQ here in the Midwest. I wonder what South Korean BBQ taste like--chicken or dog?

I'm now leaning toward having it open to the public. No admission charge with the exception of bringing a side dish, preferably one purchased from a deli or grocery store, unopened. I'll pay for the pig or two or three. In the parking lot, I'll put flyers on all the windshields that simply read, "Google Bitcoin". If a weekend, of which it probably will be, I can easily make this a two day event. The venue has fishing and camping available at a very reasonable rate, one I probably can even get lowered.

Great idea you have going here, Adam. Great idea!

The fries, gravy, and cheese curds are kept separate to keep things from getting too soggy/melty and allows each person to adjust the proportions just the way they like it.

No, but I am guessing it is one of those ubiquitous, but inferior, New York style bagels.

For those who think a bagel is a bagel is a bagel.

Dude, everyone knows NY Bagels are the best in the world for 1 reason. Its our tap water.

Even in the article you posted they agree

"Perhaps it was a home-court advantage, but the New York bagel clearly won out among those who had an opinion to offer. The assessments of the Montreal bagel: “like New York pretzels without salt,” “completely flavorless” and “dense, a little tough, and totally bland.”"

mmmm sausage. ;p

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

I enjoy Thomas Bagels. Last week, I made the mistake and purchased generic bagels. They sucked! So I feed them to the squirrels and they were like, WTF! No Quebec BBQ?

You mentioned June 1st. That's a Friday. What about the 2nd? Or, to take into account of the international dateline, the first Saturday in June? (which, for me, is still the 2nd)
