I would really like to add to my Link, Ondo, and Render bags but don't have any dry powder. I was thinking about selling a little BTC to do this. I'm in massive profit in BTC, and considering selling $20k worth to do so.

Anyone else considering this? Just looking for feedback as nobody i personally know is in to crypto.

Selling Bitcoin (BTC) to fill your altcoin portfolio could be a bad decision for you, because currently the price performance of altcoins is also affected by Bitcoin (BTC) itself. If Bitcoin (BTC) goes down, then the performance of your altcoin portfolio will also go down, as simple as that. So, it would be better if you rethink your plan. If you still want it, just do it, all the risks, all the decisions are on you, mate.

It’s really bad idea to purchased altcoins when the market is still uncertain. You might lose everything that you gain from BTC with just one massive dump from altcoin that you re-invest your BTC profit.

I diversify my profit when the market is already recovering not during the bear market or uncertainty.

If it was prior to 2025 i would have suggested you the same, but altcoins are almost dead these days. I did the same mistake last year, selling some of my bitcoin to get into altcoins, thinking that the altseason would come and give me much more returns, but it never happened. I would sincerely suggest you not buy altcoins for your bitcoins. If you want to cash some of the profits in bitcoins, better convert them into stable coins. Keep those stablecoins with you, in case the market crashes to 73-74K, you can still buy back bitcoins cheap or maybe get some of the altcoins at more cheaper prices.

I hope you don't regret your actions, I'm not an anti altcoins, I like them for short term gain while Bitcoin remain the long term goals but I'm selective when it comes to altcoin investment. Have you look at Ondo and Link chart in a yearly view, it seems whales has left link and have focus on another coin. That coin was massively pump during the 2020 market recovery just like Ada was did but today, it looks like one coin that is a grave yard that nobody is having interest to buy.

The tech aspect of chainlink is one thing every projects need as long as EVM interoperability is concern but I don't know maybe it's because the hype has died down or the over confidence the coin had during the recovery, there is nothing new and fascinating about the coin anymore and people are not buying that much. If you must sell your Bitcoin that is on profit for any altcoins, please try as much as possible to do your research before you put all your money on them so you don't regret later.

It is those who don't understand the potential profits Bitcoin has over altcoins in the long run will like to risk their Bitcoin holdings to altcoins they don't know what lies ahead in the future for the altcoins they intend to accumulate.
I don't think that was true because why they first invest in Bitcoin anyway? Also there are people that are like that, that will also invest on altcoins. It is called as diversification just in case you didn't know it yet. And if they don't know what the future awaits with altcoins, then why will they still continue to invest on it? It just doesn't make any sense. Maybe instead say that they don't know what the future lies ahead with Bitcoin, so they just transfer to altcoins as early as possible.

I can't have up to $20k in Bitcoin and I want to invest it all in altcoins that I haven't seen much gains in them in the last 30 days.
Maybe you are only an alt enthusiast? That is why. Also I think it is a smart move for the short term. It is possible that alts will be next in line after a BTC pump though.

A little bit off topic, but I just wanted to pop in and say that for a moment there I was like "Oh, we're trading BTC for gunpowder now! What a time to be alive, never thought I'd read it with my own eyes on an actual online space and not in some William Gibson-esque cyberpunk fiction".

I'll see myself out lmao.

I don't really understand what you mean by selling part of your Bitcoin to buy memecoins? Do you ever think that it's gonna be profitable?
My advise for you is for you to abolish that think because it is nig wise at all. Altcoins market are not really doing well currently and for many of these altcoins to move drastically bullish in the market, it means that Bitcoin would have attained a very high price become altcoins can go as far as that. If you take a look at Ethereum, you will see the same thing which is why Bitcoin still remains the best crypto asset you can every hold that will give you maximum profits apart from buying new projects.

I'm so happy for you to have made it big with investing in Bitcoin. There is always a  great potential in BTC when compare with altcoin. I  won't advice you to withdraw such a huge amount of money for altcoin. There are still more to win if the money is left in BTC towards the next bull run.
Buying during the dip is one of the ways we can make fast profits from the market without any more of panicking.
There are other strategies we can use to invest in Bitcoin but the best is for us to buy the dip so that we can sell when price goes up.
We buy when the price is low and sell when the price is high. That is a simple strategy for accumulating Bitcoin and many are still taking such strategy for granted. It is certain that the price of Bitcoin is going to continue the bull and the only way we can make money is when we accumulate enough.

Altcoins are down and out these days and we don't know when they will get out of this bearish season. It's more risky now to invest in alts, even top alts like Ethereum is not able to perform well despite Bitcoin going so high. If you have Bitcoin then HODL it and if you have cash to buy then better buy more Bitcoin on current dip rather then going for alts. For alts, there aren't many choices these days. Many got good profit from Trump coin during it's initial phase of launch but it's total gambling, if you are good in gambling then one can try that path. DYOR

Not safe due to its volatile movements and there's no assurance that we can see a quick recover after those dumps happen. That's the reason why I always choose to hodl Bitcoin its because I don't like to deal with volatile movements of market and don't want to get pressured especially when unimaginable situation came.

No doubt that  there are so many alt choices in the market, but its hard to determine which of those tokens are best pick for us its because so common with this alts to have sudden changes that's why I don't like to deal with it and just focus to accumulate Bitcoin rather than try to risk something from things that so risky and potentially give us less chance to earn.

Bitcoin sits at the very top of the crypto chart. We can be happy when our trades in crypto is definitely going our way, we make prominent plans to put us in positions that will become lengthy and highly classified. I'm optimistic about my patterns when it comes to investing in Bitcoin. I know alot happen in the market, it can be the heavy dumping of these projects but nevertheless, we become hopeful for what the future holds and we're leaning towards comparing our stats. Bull run will come but when? It can be in more long time but also can it exists in short period.

When it comes to cryptocurrency investment it is individual and it is important for every individual to do research on  what investment that is good for one. If you take every suggestion in the comment section you may end up taking the wrong one bug if you have done your own research your self and even if you still want to here what people have to say if you should proceed with what you want to do, you can still pick up the best suggestion from people sharing their views.

Trust me, I've done that and I regret doing it.

But people like OP who has made a lot of profit with Bitcoin holding, you can do freely anything you wish to.

To me, I won't do that because it didn't end up profitable for me. Maybe for you guys, it will be so good luck and make sure that there is no regret after you've sold your BTCs for alts.

Greediness and lack of patience is what normally push people to this kind of decision. They often believe altcoin could make 100x with minutes and this can't happen with Bitcoin. But such people have forgotten the risk involved in investing in altcoin.

I never blame anyone for being greedy, because it's human nature. It's just that making choices at the wrong time can make things even worse. One of them is changing the portfolio from mostly Bitcoin (BTC) to altcoins when the market is consolidating, instead of getting the expected profit, because it could be the opposite.

Look at how Bitcoin (BTC) is doing right now, it’s back down below $80K, and it’s not a wise choice to move into altcoins.

Bitcoin is the most valuable currency in the cryptocurrency. People in almost all countries know about Bitcoin and have a strong belief in Bitcoin, which is why Bitcoin is ahead in terms of its popularity and has received various recognitions and institutional support. And the commercial use of Bitcoin has increased, which is why many institutions and governments are helping to see Bitcoin investment as a safe, long-term investment. On the other hand, if we talk about altcoins, their market is very risky because it fluctuates the most, which is high. That is why most people do not want to hold altcoins for the long term because it can be challenging.

If you have already made a big profit, it is natural for someone to take the profit even though it is not maximized and I think that is what someone should do to secure their profit or capital first and buy again when the price has dropped below to maximize the profit that will come in the future rather than waiting and waiting for the price to continue to rise in the next cycle.

but people who lose on this situation I think it is better not to withdraw their profits, it is better to increase the accumulation of bitcoins, but do not treat the same thing between altcoins and bitcoins because the results will be different on this principle.

Think wisely before you make a decision that may be very risky because you will face the risk of losing the profits you get from Bitcoin just for an altcoin that you believe will multiply your profits that will not necessarily happen. And it would be better if you have high confidence that the altcoin you mentioned will bring profit, you should use your own money without having to risk the profits you have earned from Bitcoin because it is indeed very risky and if you let the profits you have earned from Bitcoin in the long term your profits are guaranteed to continue to multiply. So it is better for you to focus on what will definitely give you profit than you start with something new and not necessarily profitable for you and you regret it.

The market is not favorable right now and every altcoins are bleeding because of Bitcoin.
Greed has been one of the reasons why we would keep losing more money than making profits in the market. Investing can be profitable many times but when greed is added to it, we might be surprised that we might not be able to get the best from the market because of the interest to make more money why taking too much risk that could leave us in a big disappointment.
