To avoid financial misunderstanding, couples should have a separate portfolio for their Bitcoin investment. So that nobody will accuse the other why selling when it is not the right time to do that.
Bitcoin investment is not like traditional banking. You will deposit money, and the amount deposited will remain the same. There will be gains or losses in it. Someone can decide to employ a DCA strategy, which alone can bring about confusion and misunderstanding among couples on how their Investment in Bitcoin has been going on together in the past months.
The question of Who has invested the most, or who hasn't for some time will arise. Making one of the couples think they have lion's share more than the other. Which may not be easily accepted by the other couple, causing a deep commotion that could lead to divorce.

Couples should speak about and if they can't find a resolution they should talk to a financial advisor. I would invest in bitcoin together with my partner but I will be the one to handle everything. Our relationship is already built on trust and transparency and sharing a bitcoin wallet together or not doesn't affirm it. We hope the other bad things such sudden passing or divorce doesn't happen. However, if my partner feels for whatever reason that they want their separate bitcoin wallet, then we'd split it.

It won't hurt to order for separate hardware wallets, one for you and your partner, so whatever you are able to safe up won't be revealed to anyone of you guys, you have your private keys and so is your partner, this is much better than sharing the same wallet.
There will be a problem in the future if two partners are buying and storing BTC in one wallet, people forget things easily, one can say he has send up to 0.6 BTC while it is not up to that amount while the second might also do the same, misunderstanding can take place.
DCA separately, it is best for both sides.

In traditional finance, married couples usually opens joint bank account to manage money together. But when it comes to Bitcoin, things are are not always that simple. Should partners share a Bitcoin wallet like a joint bank account, or is it more smarter to just keep separate portfolios? A shared Bitcoin wallet helps builds transparency and can strengthen financial trust in a relationship. However, one big concern is security. If both partners got access to the same wallet and one of them falls for scam, all their Bitcoin could be gone forever. Another issue is inheritance planning. If Bitcoin is held private by one partner and they pass away sudden without sharing access, the other one might struggle to get back the funds. And what if the couple ends up divorcing? That could turn into a whole different mess.
One thing I have always wanted to abolish is the traditional method of couples having joint account, it is sometimes not so good as both will be actually monitoring each others spending and somewhat usually brings problems except for few understand couples so as such I actually think everyone can have they own personal bitcoin wallet but that doesn’t rule out a joint account. Joint bitcoin savings can come in if both parties actually agree that it is an investment for their children and as such this isn’t a savings any of them can spend from except on agree terms. This kind of wallets are easily multi sig wallet of 2-of-3 co-signers where the last sig is actually stored in a bank vault with a pledge that both of them must be present to take the private key in case they need it or in case of death to one, the child who they have together will be also present with the person alive to retrieve the key. But even if they have the joint wallet each couple can have their own separate wallet for personal investment

I dont think there is a one-size-fits-all approach here. What works for one couple might not work for another. Like with most things in a relationship, talking it through openly is most important.
the way I see it finances should be a team effort in a partnership. From budgets to long-term savings, money stuff impacts both people so it makes sense to tackle it together. But every relationship is different so couples have to figure out what financial dynamic aligns with their values.

Bitcoin investment is best on an individual level and not in a joint investment model it doesn't work that way, it can work with traditional stock investment but Bitcoin has different appeals to different people, so for that you may have the motivation to invest your whole income on Bitcoin, whereas your spouse may want to only risk like 30% on Bitcoin investment so in such a situation it hard to draw the other party along so better we leave Bitcoin out of any joint investment.

It should or should not depend on how both of them see the future of Bitcoin. Besides, whatever the investment made by either husband or wife is an investment of the family. Therefore, it is not necessary for us to focus solely on Bitcoin. It could be best to invest in other investment platforms as well for security reason. As long as each of them shows transparency, it will never be a problem whether the time comes for them to divorce. It depends on how they talk and trust each other. In fact, they are not worried about divorce, but it is for someone who spends money secretly.

If couples should agree to save together or invest in one wallet, it means they are not going to have the issues of how many BTC each party sent. Sharing wallet means the BTC belongs to both, so such problems as how much each couple has sent to the wallet might not arise at all.

It's possible to do that, and if the couple has one mind, they can decide to invest in Bitcoin together just as they both need to be present before you can make a withdrawal from a joint account. They can also use a multisig wallet for that, which they can both see the transaction inflow from, but before anyone can spend funds from that wallet, the permission of the other person will be required to authorise the transaction so that the thing you call a security concern can be solved with a multisig wallet.

Sharing wallet means the BTC belongs to both, so such problems as how much each couple has sent to the wallet might not arise at all. I think it should boils down to trust here, if they agree to save in one wallet then good for them. As least there is no "financial infidelity", https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/05/20/bitcoin-in-divorce-how-spouses-hide-assets-crypto-hunters-find-them.htmlA few months into her divorce proceedings, Sarita thought it was suspicious that her spouse, who earned $3 million annually, didn't have many assets. After spending half a year on discovery and enlisting the help of a forensic accountant, the New York housewife eventually tracked down 12 bitcoins — then worth half a million dollars — in a previously undisclosed crypto wallet. There should be understanding between the two parties, as we really don't know what will happen in the future, specially your relationship to your wife or husband. So in case of a divorce proceedings, it will not be as complicated not like in this case.

I think this kind of thing depends on the initial agreement because when there is mutual trust between us and our partners, openness is definitely important as well as in investment matters but that does not mean that those who do it separately are also not open to each other but maybe there are some things that need to be considered in the end.
I personally am currently still trying to separate the investments made because I currently keep my portopolio in 3 different wallets even though I also sometimes fill the wallet more but it has been intended for my children and partner from the beginning. So in this case I give more access to my partner for his wallet although it is also at my discretion and sometimes I also fill it but I prefer this separate method where I, my partner, and my child have separate wallets to invest.
This doesn't mean it's not open but it's a form of commitment and convenience. I am comfortable with this condition so I continue to maintain it and do not make one wallet to be used together.

Having separate wallets is best, that's what I think, if the both patterns have the same wallet it may not end well, I mean with crypto it's actually different from a bank account, with bank account there are always ways to correct certain mistakes and handl cases if they arise but it's quite different with crypto, certain mistakes will only lead to loosing of funds and nothing else can be done, same applies to some issues, when they arise, you only have to face the consequences because more than one person had access to the wallet, it should be rather treated as a reserve, an investment alternative and should be in the custody of one person of in different places by the two persons, Incase of any losses they have the other to cushion the loss suffered and always have something to fall back at.

If the both parties agree to have a traditional currency joint account and they managed it well without a controversy or any extraordinary issues, I think that they may manage same wallet, so what I want us to understand is that with trust and agreement in marriage, everything can be possible, but some people will not agree to have a single bitcoin address as a joint one, but people who has understanding can agree to have same or one address, but people who doesn't understand each other can never agree such instead they will have different address.

A joint account controlled by the couple is referred as family account, whatever investment choice including bitcoin or real estate so long as they both agree on investing together I find no fault meanwhile in a situation they both do their separate thing without joint management investing should be private but, I have witnessed a situation just one person get to control both investment and it’s not all about being perfect but trust. For example no one will be exempted when it comes to saving rather they both bring their different income and then decide on the amount to use, on the issue of loss and trust the fact remains risky when joining an investment or money together anything can happen but the person in-charge keeping the investment should be thought on how to avoid scam trick.

If you both have the same goal then I don't see any problem why you both shouldn't have same portfolio but if not then you should have your own separate one. The reason for that is that you might have different crypto that you guys want to invest if you want to invest different crypto with bitcoin as the main investment. You can also do both where you have both portfolio and also have your personal investment. You can also have your own, your partner's investment and both and your partner's investment.

You just stated there why couples shouldn't have a joint Bitcoin hodling or wallet. I believe that should be the best answer to your question. That point is a major reason for me and it's a no-no. This isn't about trust issue, it's about being too careful. There shouldn't be any harm in that type of carefulness. Creating a Bitcoin wallet is one of the easiest things to do unlike getting a bank account. I don't see why couples would want to jeopardize their finances because they want to prove they're in love on financial dealings. Finance should be separated from love, IMHO. That's the best way to keep everyone safe.

Based on all the previous physical of Bitcoiners by their family, friends, and sometimes the people who are not blood related who know about their Bitcoin holding. I will never advise anyone to invest in BTC together with their husband/wife. However, if someone must do something like combining BTC investments, some necessary things need to be put in place to prevent future issues. For example, you need to make sure the person is not greedy, there's a need for legal signing, multi-signature, and more.

I agree with Dunamisx. There are too many relationship and finance experts giving their expert opinions to couples, most of them I think are ridiculous. I think everyone should know their spouse and know what works for them as a family. There are just as many cases where having joint bank accounts worked and others where it was a total disaster.

Should be separate for a lot of reasons. opsec is big. also should be a pair of hardware wallets one for wife one for husband if usa based two PayPal accounts one for wife one for husband if usa based two coinbase accounts one for wife one for husband if usa based two kraken accounts one for wife one for husband so a total of 8 places with coins. and ratios should be 85% in the wallets 5% in PayPal kraken and coinbase. that would be fairly safe way to do things. obviously do not have too much in btc and no cash in case you need cash for real bills.Ie if you have 85,000 in the wallets and 15,000 in the exchanges you better have decent cash somewhere just in case.

Yeah probably having the separate wallets would be the way to go for sure, but for me this isn't a reality because I am really the only one that is into Bitcoin. I wish my wife had the interest and the want to invest into bitcoin or really even learn about it and I try my best to make it interesting but i'm always met with a lack of interest. I have taken it upon myself to educate her on the basics but it is difficult when someone just doesn't really have the drive or really care about it as much as you do, ya know? Maybe she will come around, eventually!
