Preparing to BUY IN to altcoins again soon, find the flaws in my plan.

I've got $10,000 sitting, ready to send to an exchange and buy a few alt coins.  I've been doing some research and watching some crypto "experts" on youtube for a while now.

At this time, I am HODLing 1000 DOGE and 750 XRP.  

For my next investment, I am thinking of buying into Solana, XRP, and Cardano.  Maybe a little Chainlink also, and maybe a couple thousand more DOGE.

I don't think crypto prices have bottomed yet, I'm trying to catch the proverbial "falling knife" for maximum profits to me.

But I'm watching and waiting.  I am thinking that 45/47 and Elon, and all the things that they are doing, plus interest rates, plus the economy being in the recession that no one wants to admit we are in yet, will all contribute to crypto prices falling further before things start to turn around.  All this tariff stuff is also creating uncertainty in the markets, I am hoping it'll somehow crash crypto prices briefly.  Long enough for me to get in cheap.

What am I doing wrong, and what would you do?

You will have to wait to find out yourself. Two things are going happen, either you profit because you wait til the bottom sets or you lost opportunity to maximize because the bottom never happened because the ATH we know today isn't actually the ATH of this bull run.

Whichever advice you take this time, you are still going to weigh which one is possible to happen. My take is this you wait til a real trend comes, it doesn't matter if you didn't maximize as long as you profit, its good.

That's a good strategy. I too just bought Solana. It's a coin I believe would easily achieve x2 within a year. My next priority is BNB and SUI and maybe SEI and whatever Fantom has renamed itself but after the price settles a bit. In my opinion, good utility coins are going to be a big hit in long run. Even the lousy ETH got so much success. Another thing to see on utility tokens is you go with L1 solution, L2 are temporary workaround but they won't solve the inter lying problem and hence won't be a mainstream utility coin.
Another alts I'll bag are popular memecoins like PEPE which has decreased a lot recently. The only way I seem they go from here is up.

I would suggest not buying XRP, never liked it, it is too centralized. But at the end of the day we are seeing this becoming a bit more of an issue. XRP being run by a company makes it way too much like fiat for me, if I trusted others for my currency then I would just hold dollar, at least USA is behind it, not that I trust USA, I do not, and that is why I hold bitcoin, but at the very least, I trust USA more than I trust Ripple.

Rest are fine, SOL is a good coin that could be great for the future, ADA is definitely amazing and has a huge future, and we could end up seeing a lot more from other stuff. If you can buy those, and add something else instead of XRP then you could make some decent profit with that portfolio when bull comes.

I believe that if things get worst, and most of alts are still dumping, so many of altcoin with low trading volume are gonna be eliminated out of the market, probably there'll be surge of delisting numbers like back then in bearish market.
but that if the worst scenario plays out.

I'd still stick to BTC though, maybe if altcoin getting dirt cheap for the like of solana i'd try to make entry.

Solana is a good project that is going to make so many people millionaires which is why we have been seeing the price skyrocket when Bitcoin is doing well in the market. Now the orice is down and it's an opportunity for any trader or investor to take the opportunity to buy some holdings now before we are going to be seeing the price of the Bitcoin going bull again.
The market is not so friendly now and it's a reminder that we need to focus on taking opportunity that will be come profitable for us while the price of Bitcoin prepares for the bull momentum.

We wait for promising moments where we get to trigger trading positions. The ATH might not be the main high point afterwards, we need to take a good look at this proper check. Been patient in the market will only make one weak enough if he or she continue to anticipate in the market without placing a trade. We know how it do end for those that are completely incompetent. Why be in a hurry to trade? There's enough time for everyone to place a trade in the market. All we have to do is selects a good position and ensure we zip in all angles.

In my opinion the biggest mistake you are making is watching newbies on youtube who pretend to be "experts". Such videos may get you some basic ideas but they are terrible for decision making. You have to watch the market itself and most importantly look at the charts. Just zoom out and see how each altcoin has been performing over the past years (not just couple of weeks or months). That gives you a better view on whether bag-holding altcoins is a good idea or now...

Then maybe just wait until Bitcoin hits around $65K as that could possibly be the lowest point before it bounces.

But for altcoins, they haven’t really pumped much this cycle, so prices are still pretty cheap right now. I get it though, you’re probably hoping for even better discounts. One thing I noticed in your list (no offense).. I’m not a fan of seeing DOGE there. I feel like its hype has passed, and I honestly don’t see it making a big comeback like before.

The price went down for SOL and as well as the other that you've mentioned like ADA. So, if I'll do it, I'd only probably sell those XRPs for sol or best choice is with BTC.

It's up to you but you're in profit with XRP, better to cash that money out and do something if you want to like buying these alts.

You have lots of money to invest. Asked to enlarge your decision in case of investment. Understanding the market’s detail, trading your own if you want to benefit. Just remove DOGE from the plan and that would be alright. XRP is fine.... personally, I’d heavily invest in this coin because I believe it’s undervalued right now. For years, this coin has struggled due to the case against them, but now that they’ve overcome that, they’ve climbed back to this level. Although they haven’t surpassed their all-time high yet, I’m positive that going forward, this will be one of the altcoins that will really grow, especially since it’s part of the coins Trump mentioned US will consider as a strategic reserve.

Make your research very well before you go into altcoins investment and I what I will advice you is that you should not place all your investment into altcoins and the amount you are planning to invest in altcoins should be what you can afford to lose.  Do your research and if you see a good reason why you need to invest in this coin you are free to invest and don't make decisions to invest because of the trend but because of what you know.

This could actually be really bad advice.

There are ton of fake trading volume forced on tokens that have basically no liquidity what so ever.
Meaning that it doesn't matter if it has $1M trading volume per day when it's fake, because without real market any real sell for just <$100 worth of tokens could bring the price down -90%. Check the liquidity rather then volume, because fake volume is a red flag and only liquidity matters. Liquidity is harder to fake as well.

I believe we can only hope for a bull run on bitcoin and not on altcoins, because only few altcoins will be influenced by bitcoin bull run. Personally, if I want to go into altcoins which I see as gambling, I will go for the ones that Trump added to US crypto reserve than any other ones, because their prices might like go up overtime. I will buy them in the bear market not now.

That struggle for XRP for so many years was due to the SEC case that has been filed against them. But it's all good now and we will never know if there will be another series of pumps for it because it seems that the party is done.

I'm sure that you're in profit and probably you've bought it when it was below the current price of $2.40 and so, whoever has bought that before the pump was it's around $0.5.

And when it surpasses the former ATH or it gets to another ATH, make sure that you get to cash out your profits even some.

Some like to play it safe and only invest in top 10 coins, that is fine if you are happy with a 3-5x this bull run.

But if you want more returns then you have to go further down the list and take more risk.

I have a mixture, with the likes of XRP however i got into it below $0.50 last year, I would feel a bit uncomfortable buying it now at $2.50 but I do believe it can see $10 this year so if you are happy with a 4x return then go for it.

And just on DOGE, i have never been interested in this however it hit $0.46 a few months ago and I see no reason why it wont hit $0.75 - $1 later this year once the bull run really gets going so that would still be decent return from current price of $0.17.

I stick to the top 10 coins a lot, they're safe and I get okay profits without freaking out. Smaller coins tempt me though they could play off huge even if they feel like a rollercoaster.

I mix it up, keeping some steady ones and tossing in a few risky picks. It's like a middle ground, safe but with a chance for more. Timing's a big ideal too. I kick myself thinking about XRP at $2.50 when I could've got it under $0.50 totally changes the game. I remember DOGE going nuts in bull runs and I wonder if that's coming again.

I've got to dig in and research not just hoe. Crypto's fun but I try to play it smart and not lose it all.

It really does get wild the lower down the list you go, i have an altcoin that did a 40x return in 3 months early 2024. It was my first time experiencing that and unfortunately I didn't take enough profit and it is now back down to 8x return currently, I am now waiting for it to go back up again to sell the rest of my bag.

It also depends how long you have been investing, if you are new with limited money to invest then you have to risk more compared to those who have been investing many years and have a lot more capital to invest with.

Well said those YouTubers can be deceiving all just for the views and hype of the projects sponsoring them underground, and one of my most information sources for altcoins is Bitcointalk and other cryptocurrency communities where members share their Personal experience and knowledge and also help out with real-time analysis, so good for the ops to already stick to his present portfolio and better still increase some of his potential assets holdings like Bitcoin XRP Ethereum and the rest of those known assets if he have enough cash reserves.
