I don't think that the punishment is harsh in anyway, it's said that 'if you can't do the time don't do the crime '. So if any professional players that knows this and goes ahead to involve in match fixing, they should be ready to face the consequences of their actions if caught. This is not the first time which a player received a life ban for being involved on match fixing while players are aware about the consequences so I doubt that this punishment is too harsh since the mistake committed is the highest form of unprofessional. Is not about him knowing about the implications but these set of people that are engaging on these kind of act, they feel they can't be caught and this is because of the money involve that's the money they planned on paying him (that's the player) that's what blind his reasoning because no one can say if he is caught that it will be easy for him and it will be so bad that he stops playing football again. These guys have all the penalties at the back of their hand but they choose to ignore it as if they don't pay them in their clubs. To me, I don’t think this punishment is too harsh - if they decide to be lenient on the players who indulge in this type of behavior I’m sure other too would still do it because in the end the punishment they’ll recieve is not that severe so they’ll do it anyway knowing that they are capable of withstanding the punishment that follows unlike this type of punishment that has to do with life ban.

He deserves punishment, the rules should be the rules but a life ban from football is not pleasant, i don't think this is the first of such incidents, unfortunately he was being caught and now have to face severe consequences. There might be future appeals for the player, if they may consider some years ban, five years or so may be a hard one for the player considering in the next 5 years he will be turning 32 years and no potential club will be interested in him leaving him with options of minor league or if Saudi will be interested, some punishment is not required for a life time, people can learn within a time frame of their punishment.
