Cash-out is just an awesome thing to have!

I had a previous topic about early cahs-out and a list of pros and cons from it but at that point what I probably missed doing was actually giving an example, now as the things that you expect less do eventually happen, just a few minutes ago I made a small mistake.  

I was bored as hell, one of the racetracks had a delay because of a jockey injury, I didn't especially like any of the horses that were racing, so I said, I'm just going to randomly pick one and be done with it. So I have chosen a somewhat favorite at the 15:45 at Sedgefield, and then did a fat finger mistake without realizing it, so instead of $5 without knowing I put $55, I can't even remember when was the last time I made such a mistake if ever.

So I was watching the race, the favorite was in front but he was carrying his head around very weirdly and nothing about his race despite leading was convincing, I said this is my only bet today, fuck it, I don't want to lose and I'm not going to start searching for another one on such a boring day, so let me cash out while he was still leading, and to my surprise when I tapped the cash-out option, it was 55, not 5 and I was still being able to get $23 in profit.

Immediately pressed the button and then watched the race, watched as this unfolded:

In case anyone misses this, the initial bet would have been lost as the horse was caught and passed in the last furlong.

Sometimes you wouldn't know that any slight mistake could lead to victory and since it wasn't intentional acts you may like have winning, but if you that plan for the game with the mindset to win such amount the game could have ended up the opposite. Yes, sometimes cashout helps because can't actually give exactly how a game would later end if they are running. Had never bet on race before since I know less about them and I don't understand how it's compared with football.

Anyway congratulations for that winning, at least 23$ is worthwhile and can foot up some minor bills at home, the most lucky thing is that your 55$ came out couples with your winning of 23$.

I have not make such a mistake before but it can happen. Most especially to those that gambled frequently. You still make $23 in profit which is still good.

If anyone do what you did, the person will panic and may cash out earlier just like you did. But I do not like cash out at all. I will prefer to wait for the game to finish and lose but hoping something good will happen. But surprisingly it would have been otherwise.

Your wise decision of cashing out without delay when the horse you picked was leading the race was the best decision so far. Not been greedy did the magic for you. Imagine how you would have felt after noticing that you made a finger mistake after losing the race. It's good that no matter how little our profit is, you consider the cash out offer when the time comes.

You are just lucky you made a mistake, but this does not happen to everyone; even me, I have never made a mistake like this before, and I always double-check my bet amount, or if I accidentally put the wrong amount, I will cancel my bet and make a new one.

If I were in your situation, I would do the same thing: withdraw the winnings right away because they were unexpected, and I had already won a large amount due to a minor error.
Because if you play again with the amount you won, you could lose it all. So it's a wise decision that you cash out them immediately and avoid making new bets.

I also have lot of regrets, especially with my parlays. There have been times when the parlay could’ve won, but I already cashed out too early. What’s worse is that sometimes the cashout didn’t even cover my original bet.
Tthat feeling of I should’ve just left it alone and then you watch all the legs hit afterward. It hurts even more when your cashout isn’t even enough to get your money back feels like a double kill. lol

Sometimes I cashout just to play it safe, following my instinct… but in the end regrets, If I didn’t touch it, I would’ve hit the parlay. Of course, it’s a different kind of stress if it end up losing, too.
Usually, the reason I cash out is because I get nervous about the last leg.

The cash out is definitely a nice feature to have access to. Especially when doing parlays. When one game is about to blow your entire bet, you can just cash out early and sometimes even make money still. This is a feature that I’m sure many gamblers aren’t even aware of or how to use it, but it’s a benefit for sure.

Congratulations again stompix, as we say in my country, you have a flower in the ass!!   (aka having very good and sustained luck).

In my case, it happens to me like xLays said, so to avoid getting nervous about the last leg I usually leave it alone, with a few exceptions. And in these exceptions I don't even usually watch all the legs afterward. That way, I avoid regretting cashing out soon if it was a bad idea.

I prefer to bet before it starts and leave the bet immediately. I rarely do cash-out in the middle of the game. Although I have done it several times, what happens more often is disappointment when I see the final result which turns out that the bet will result in a full win.
You are still lucky in your mistake in determining the nominal bet. Even with random bets if you are lucky, no one can change it.

This is a typical example of one good advantage of the cash-out feature in gambling, I may not have mistakenly staked above my limit before but I have taken many cash-outs from games that later turn bad and I was extremely happy to always stumble on such luck.

It is good that your mistake didn't lead to a loss. I have made such a mistake, and regrettably, it led to a loss. Some people are courageous enough not to cash out even if they are on profit they always want to win the maximum amount. I am surprised that this is your ninth cash out for the year because I do that regularly. Some of my gambling friends said I am a low-risk gambler, which is why I have not won big. But I am always comfortable with small wins since I am not bold enough to hold on.

You're lucky, but cashout is a 50-50 situation that may go either way - you could have lost $30 more if it had gone the other way, which is why gamblers like myself don't take cashout, as I explained in your previous thread.

Partial cashout is still the best option available, but only a few bookmakers offer the feature, which allows you to withdraw your stake while still in the game for a profit.

Lucky mistake. I have sometimes fantasized about making such a mistake, I mistakenly bet a large amount and hit a jackpot based on that amount, but there has been no chance to get it as I am always extra careful.

Cashout is a great tool to have and gives you control over the progress of your bet. Almost every-time I have failed to cash-out, I went on to lose the total amount - hope against reason.

i mean considering how he only expected to bet $5 i would say that walking out with $23 more is quite a good deal already i wouldn’t recommend this ‘mistake’ often though we still need to be very careful because this can lead to more dangerous situations more often than not

You are damn lucky to have cashed out so early. Anyways it's a 50 50 thing either ways. Sometimes it is good we take advantage of opportunities such as this if we find it not convenient or conducive anymore to continue with the game. If I were to be in that same position, I would still act in the same way cashing out when the option avails itself based on my observation and OP did perfectly well observing the race and his choice horse. Maybe he could have lost the bet if he did not have closely follow up with the game watching it closely and noting some irregularities or lapses on the side of the horse to say.

The fat finger does the job  .  All except for the mistakes in bet input had been planned.  So, I can say regardless of the result, @OP had watched the race attentively and cash out during the critical moments when he thought that it was the climax of the performance of the game.  It is not luck, IMO, it was good cash-out timing except for that fat finger that gives @OP a better wins.  I wonder what would be @OP's feeling if the bet lost and he found out that he bet 11x of what he had intended. I am really curious about what @OP's topic would be if that happened.

Anyway, congrats on the win I think it was not luck but rather your intuition and the knowledge of the sports performance that led you to cashout early securing your win.

That's the thing about cashouts, it's always left for you as the gambler to decide on what to do and once you do it cannot be reversed. most gamblers see the cashout option as a loss to them instead of taking advantage of it, a win is a win no matter how small it might be, cashouts are more like damage control, you either get a bit extra added to your stake or you lose a certain percentage depending on how your bet is playing out, it's better to get something than to lose your entire stake. Learn to take advantage of this feature.

I agree with you, it is foolish for a person to withdraw before reaching the endpoint. Patience is the key that can lead you to victory when you are hoping to avoid loss, and this kind of gambling requires strong patience. However, I can add something, what if a person can foresee the things that may lead to loss? In the OP's case, he mentioned that he picked a random horse and later realized that the horse was not as good as he thought. At that point, he decided to cash out, which was the best option to protect himself from further loss. At least he made the right decision for himself, if someone else were in his place, they might panic and be unable to decide what to do. Moreover, he also won some dollars. If he had waited, he might have doubled the amount or lost everything, but he thought rationally and earned some profit.

Yeah, I know, there is only one thing, it's not a 50-50 chance, depending on the odds you cash-out you can go from anywhere from 1.1 to 9.0.
I cashed out a $50 bet on Constitution Hill where I got only 20$ back and I was lucky as in the 100 meters it dropped to 5 and then to zero.

True. I usually imagine it happening in a game of crash. I mistakenly bet a higher amount and then forget about it, only to come back to cash out just in time before it crashes and win big.

It was a smart move on your part to cash-out. Some players would have liked the idea of winning over $120 on that one and considered it to be some dumb luck for them.
