Stop using telegram and switch to SimpleX chat app that is much better for privacy, and they are accepting Bitcoin and other coins for donation. But whatever you are using for communications you should always be careful with clicking on links, both in email, websites and in chat messengers.
I even just heard about the SimpleX chat app because now for the most crowded crypto chat is telegram, then more scammers are on telegram. Is the simpleX application still being developed?
And yes, whatever chat application is used, it depends on the user, whether they easily trust strangers or not. I completely ignore new accounts that send unclear links or apps, Usually I also turn off the Auto-download feature when someone sends files and such, it will be safer. Now that the right people have to learn how to stay away from the telegram scammers who keep popping up, they are using a lot of new methods. Even some managers on this forum have also been scammed by scammers and lost their money, claiming to be the closest person and such. Stay vigilant and don't trust anyone if it looks very foreign and unnatural, no one will send a gift to a random person on telegram.

True. • mind the kind of groups you join
There are options to customize your account settings, and after customizing it, you can restrict people / accounts that can invite/ add you to groups. If you don't personalize your account settings, you can be easily added to many groups and surely they are scam groups. • isolate yourself from clicking links that lead you for investment platform
When you are directed to websites, it's not necessary to be investment platforms but can be any kind of websites. The bottom line is those websites are phishing sites and you can lose your account, personal information and surely money by interacting with phishing websites. The Telegram scammers are some of the funniest people I’ve ever seen, and the people who easily fall for it must really have a greedy personality, though some might just be ignorant. Because if it’s not pure greed, how do you convince me to invest in coins today and expect me to see hundred-fold returns just a few days later? Telegram even tags them as scammers after they’re reported, and that’s one thing I really appreciate about the app. I avoid any clickable links at all costs, or I go incognito on a separate browser that's not connected to any of my wallets or email accounts.

It's not proper to join a telegram groups that allow a random member to post links, these posts are always automatically removed and banned by the admin directly or by telegram bots inscribed in the group.
If you join a telegram groups where random members are restricted to post links, then these scammers chats up the members one by one claiming to be an admin sending them link introducing them to a business and investment plan.
You fall for these scammers if you reply and converse with them, because admin will never dm you first, take note of that.
Scamming becomes rampant because the admin in your telegram group is not being responsible. This is an eye opener not to join telegram group just because it's required, but make a good research before trying to be a part of that group so that you won't end up getting deceived and scam, and lose your funds because you take this risk without having caution.

You know sometimes it may not even be as a result of being greed, did you agree with me that most of this airdrop projects in telegram is just like a trap...........because majority of this airdrop projects in telegram happens to be scam, it could be that the intention of the creator is just to gain access to our wallets this is why I don't like participating in those airdrop projects more especially when it involves linking my wallet to those airdrop, so I think avoiding this airdrop projects can also protect us from being scam in telegram.

Just do not stay on Telegram for so long, so that you won't be a victim of any of the scams that are in there. These scammers are not going to feel bad for any of their victims and they're even happier to contact the potential ones. You know sometimes it may not even be as a result of being greed, did you agree with me that most of this airdrop projects in telegram is just like a trap
That is right, it's not also being greedy, but when the need to participate in these airdrops becomes your utmost priority, you're likely to be a victim of these traps. You want to get as much points as you can so you participate each of them even the obvious ones that are just tripping with their project.

Airdrops, by offering free rewards, are always a method for scammers to lure victims who are looking for quick free profits or massive gains. I haven't participated in game bots for a long time, and I believe users have now lost interest in this nonsense. The greedy creators of these game bots aim to seize players' money by any means, either by hacking their wallets or forcing players to buy expensive in-game items to withdraw their rewards. It's better to use a new wallet instead of your main one when participating in any airdrop. It's best to conduct research before joining any bot, as it could be a fake bot impersonating the original one.

You are right to be worried about dangers of airdrops and game bots. Scammers mostly try to trick people by offering free rewards which can lead to money loss or identity theft. By the way it is good that you skip this and you do not want to participate in these activities anymore. People who make these game bots are only looking out for themselves and can be very mean. Your advice to use separate wallet for airdrops is smart as it helps keep your important money safe. It is also important to do a lot of research before joining any bot because some bots can pretend to be real ones.

When people on telegram that I didn't know started to add me on groups, crypto groups with strangers not on my contact list, the first thing I did was to immediately stop that from happening. I changed the setting in the telegram app. You can go to the privacy and security and setting and put the option to be that it is only people who are already in your contact list that can add you any telegram group. I also block people, a stranger sending me a message about anything crypto is an block. I don't even respond to their conversation.

The Telegram scammers are some of the funniest people I’ve ever seen, and the people who easily fall for it must really have a greedy personality, though some might just be ignorant. I wouldn't find it funny and won't laugh at these ignorant victims that they are targeting. These people needs serious help and I will not victim blame on this one because these scammers in Telegram are totally notorious for what they do. They would do unforgivable things to these ignorant people that you say. They might be greedy or just really out of this world when it's come to awareness, they lack of it.
The desperation from these people and prolly the situation that they're dealing with, makes them bite these scammers traps. All they have to be is get more awareness on these experiences so that they won't be a victim anymore.

People should understand once and for all that there is no free lunch and that money does not fall from the sky - so if someone contacts you on any social network or app and offers you any investments that promise unrealistically large profits, know that it is a scam. Countless number of scammers sit in front of their computers and smartphones and try to trick someone all day - don't be one of those fools who will pay for their lunch or vacation.
There are far better ways to invest your money if you want to, be it BTC, gold or maybe stocks - but always be 100% sure that you are doing such things with verified traders/companies. You never search for something like that on Telegram and social networks.

This is such a crucial topic, especially given how sophisticated these scams have become lately. It's wild how many people still fall for the "send me 1 BTC for 2 BTC back" trick, but when you're new to the space, those "guaranteed" returns can sound surprisingly tempting.
I think the most important point you raised is about verifying the administrator's identity. I’ve seen so many people get DMed by fake accounts posing as group mods, and it’s almost always a setup for a phishing attempt.
Personally, I've found that the best protection is to adopt a "zero trust" policy toward any unsolicited DMs. I’ve actually been putting together some vetting resources over at Times of AI to help people figure out which communities are legitimate versus those just looking to exploit the hype. It really helps to have a framework for filtering these groups before you even join.

Telegram is like a traditional marketplace, especially for crypto assets. It has a lot of traffic, lots of good information, but there are also a lot of scammers. They really like Telegram because it's anonymous, easy to create groups, and can send mass DM. To avoid scammers, you should consider everyone on Telegram as a scammer (until proven otherwise). This kind of skepticism is not a sin in the crypto world. Caution should always be exercised to safeguard your hard-earned assets. Never access any airdrop link that asks you to connect your crypto wallet to an unofficial website, as this is a tactic to drain your wallet. Never give your seed phrase or private key to anyone, legitimate crypto projects will never ask for private information.

And another thing I would like to add to this is never to think you can get help from strangers online because when a scammer knows you need a solution to a problem, they will give good reasons to make you feel they will be able to solve the problem for you. As a Bitcoiner or an investor, you should have the ability to find solutions to your problems by gaining more knowledge, because no one can help you solve your problems for you. Another thing is to see every stranger as a suspect of a scam; at least this will give you some boundaries and prevent you from being taken advantage of.

2. Fake Giveaway:
"Send me 1 btc and I'll send you 2 btc refund!" Scammers regularly post these national offers to telegram groups. Be careful, do not get into the trap in the hope of gaining over. These giveways are often fake.
In this age and time, I don’t think anyone can fall for such scams again. It is a very old model that scammers use to scam their victims and I think they should have upgraded by now because this is mostly known and most people are aware of it. Although we cannot still look away from the fact that it can happen. Money is not easy to be made, they rather persuade you in believing in them to scam you and that’s how this method is used to scam most people. 3. The disguise scammer: Some scammers claim to be the administrator of the popular crypto groups or as members of the team. Verify his identity before dealing with a group member of a group.
Deals through telegram groups mostly are susceptible to be scams because most of the scammers reside there. It is important to verify who you’re chatting with before engaging in any deal through telegram. When receiving a deal offer first through PM from an unknown person is more susceptible to be scams, so being careful and making sure you deal with the right person is the best approach to take when dealing through telegram. A lot of people never consider it to be wrong when they recieve PM message from unknown sources offer some help without prior knowledge of whom you are, this is an indication that that conversation might be very wrong even dangerous to continue with. Someone I don't know or have not met before asking deep questions or trying to offer some help. I won't wait a minute before I discard such people, before they influence me through the chat and discussing with them, I might be given out some private point that help them to penetrate me.

Folks are always in for quick return they don’t want to take their time to build . That’s why most time they end up being scams or fallen as a victim of Ponzi scheme . I was once like that but I had to learn the hard way and it wasn’t pretty at all cost me alot of good resources, that would I have used for something better now that I have grown in sense of knowledge base too , so one way to avoid being victim is having the mindset that there’s nothing like quick money , and try researching thoroughly concerning online scam and crypto in a whole .
