Even now as I am writing this, there might be someone or a group out there who might be using bitcoin for negative purposes so no matter how you do is that you can't do anything about it. It's only natural that those kind of people will find a way like a loophole to use it for illegal activities such as weapons, drugs or whatever it is just like in fiat currency. As others have said, there's always a positive and negative side about a currency either if it is a fiat currency or cryptocurreny.

As my personal opinion, the fact that bitcoin was used for illicit stuff has been a great marketing promotional. (it's controversial opinion... but remember some items are illegal based on local laws.)

Bitcoin is a currency and can be used by anybody for anything. We cannot control how people use their coins. Fiat has also been used for many criminal activities. In fact, cash can be used to cover up criminal transactions easily since it is not easily traced. But the government usually publicize any news of Bitcoin being used for crime with the intention of giving it a bad name.

The OP has given a good advice. All of us have the responsibility of giving Bitcoin a good name. Few years ago in my location law enforcement agents usually see people who own cryptos as fraudsters. This was because many of these scammers were using crypto to perpetrate evil. There are 2 sides to almost literally everything and as a result of that you just can't stop the inevitable. Yeah we should actually promote making use of bitcoin for the right things as it would improve both bitcoin adoption and also strengthen the network. However we still can't totally remove cases of scams and hacks which are even infact of the most wrongly used aspects of bitcoin.
Infact it's not even a new gist to see cases where stolen funds are lost track of when converted to bitcoin and mixed in some cases.

No, it is not up to us to get rid of illegal activities involving Bitcoin.  Criminals do not care about us, we should not care about them.  Most of the 'getting rid of criminal activity' things somehow always interfere with the personal lives of innocent people.  Authorities should take care of criminals, not me.

I have yet to hear the same thing about dollars or Fiat in general.  But nobody seems to care as much as they care about the little illicit Bitcoin transactions being made.  Dirty Fiat transactions are happening every single day.  WAY more often if you ask me, but I have no proof so I rather stick to something that is very realistic.  A ton of dirty transactions are done through Fiat daily and giant sums are moving through it.  And the banks know it, and the governments know it, and authorities know it.  They only do not care.

Am sure a lot of people have good interests for bitcoin and that is why the interest of people keep increasing is just few people that are looking for other ways to want to use it illegally and those people are actually criminals and they are always under the rader of the authoritarian and they will do everything they can to catch up with such criminals.

There is nothing that can not be tracked on the blockchain which makes all our transactions easy to be track led without stress.
Anything that thinks he can keep scamming people should just pray that the government does not keep an eye on them. What are you referring to when you say "the same thing over and over again"? I'm not sure how most business owners work, but I notice some of them rely on third-party payment processors to filter if the funds come from a tainted address or something similar. If you're running your own payment processor I think it's still possible to block certain users especially if you require KYC and so on.

That being said, I have a feeling that exchanges are likely to interact more with funds like that compared to small/medium businesses. CMIIW.

Don't use Bitcoin to buy bad stuff. Not even for the moral reasons, but because you'll be easily traced and arrested.

The silk road hacker guy who was famously on Bitcointalk was busted by police this way.

It is way too easy to spend good inputs and bad inputs in the same transaction by accident.

Just use Monero instead if that's what you want to do. It makes these pitfalls impossible to happen.

This is something you can't preach to everybody involved with Bitcoin, millions of people have different intentions, all intentions can't be of good, there are scammers who uses Bitcoin as an option and are comfortable doing it over and again. Fiats are not exempted, scammers who are not familiar with digital currencies will decide on several fiats as options, scammers are breeds of different kind, doubts to their real intentions, in every way they try, Bitcoin good still over shadows for any unlawful and illegal use of Bitcoin, both in moral conduct.
