I don't know who need to hear this but I think this information will be helpful if not now but in the future to have your digital assets safe.
I came across somewhere in the media where someone wrote "I wish there'd be global or national crisis or disasters to where my targets are located"
The meaning of this was detailed by a replier in the post that "yes, that's usually times of vulnerabilities where victims would want to divert their physical assets to digital assets especially on bitcoin".

That's to say victims in the respective places might want to entrust their digital funds with their loved once.
So be warned everyone who're into online relationships with people you haven't had physical connections with especially the online dating.
One of the compliance in the post talked about how he made huge money during the convid-19. Which means he succeeded in scamming his victims who entrusted their funds with them with the digital assets.
I've since been searching to get back to the post again but can't find it. Maybe it's being taken down due to risk exposure of themselves or even exposing their scamming system.
So be warned if you find yourself in the respective situation not to fall into scammers trap by entrusting your crypto assets on distress.

If anyone brings up this kind of informations, they should also make suggestions of how different individuals  can be prevented from being pawn to such scam situation. An effective way is to always pass this message to your family members, loved ones and friends and also inform them to spread the information to others that they know because one cost effective way to prevent people from being pawn to certain situations is through education and awareness. Educationing people be about all of the past experience related to such situations creates a cognizant mind in people where by when they themselves encounter the situations, they will know how to handle it. The key point is for you to education, inform and make people to be aware of those situations before they will encounter it.

It's a stupid thinking.

It is similar to a price prediction from a person, that Bitcoin will hit $1M within next 90 days. You know it only happens when the world is a very big crisis and fiat currencies globally lose its purchasing powers in a global crash. In that future, do you think $1M worths too much?

Do you want to live in a world like that?

Balaji Srinivasan's prediction.
Quote
On March 17, 2023, Balaji Srinivasan wrote a tweet thread that started with a simple, shocking bet that the price of one Bitcoin would reach $1,000,000 in the next 90 days.

I'm sorry if anyone gets hurt by this or finds it offensive, but if you are someone who has digital assets and entrusts them to someone else under any circumstance, you are a fool, and if you are entrusting them to someone you haven't met physically or know personally, you are even a bigger fool. We live in a world where money is everything for everyone, and in such times, if you believe someone won't scam you or run away with your money or spend it without your consent and then make excuses, then you need to learn more about the world.

You can't even trust your blood relations these days, people you meet online are far from that. Those who are so vulnerable to scams and are so easily manipulated shouldn't get into digital markets and hold digital assets such as Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies because they are pretty easy targets for scammers.

The online world is for people who are sharp and smart, not those who don't even understand much and are easy to scam because scammers are getting smarter day by day.

So be warned if you find yourself in the respective situation not to fall into scammers trap by entrusting your crypto assets on distress.
I don’t think any existing members of this forum that has been active will fall victim of this type of scam because we are always advice not fall trust anyone online especially with our crypto funds or any personal details that may fallout privacy or any of our asset been saved in any online wallet or exchanges.

During the COVID, may people were scammed due to trust and the pandemic, and many people lose their money due to ignorance because then, many people don’t have good knowledge about cryptocurrency, so they do believe people online and share their private keys with them which do result to scam.
However, we need to be very vigilant and a sour saving any of our personal details online and also avoid clicking phishing links.

It is just too foolish for someone to pray for ear if disaster because they want financial gain from their victims.
War of physical disaster isn't something we need to be talking about because even with the war in Ukraine, the world is still uncertainty and so many lives had been lost. It is very important for every crypto holders to be wise and stop interacting with unknown people online especially when it's excessive. It is good we watch and stay away from discussions that could bring about how much we are holding in our crypto portfolio which is meant to be undisclosed to people we don't know physically or our closed ones.

Scam could come by any form and we must know the intention over what is being offered to us, we should not be vulnerable to anything, not even when we are dip in line to render what is personal to us for another to secure, scam is not what looks like it from the beginning, but before you realized it, things will e eventually changed beyond our expectations, we should not trust in what people say, even in harsh circumstances, we should maintain our privacy and never let go.

Scammers always have their target locations and most times when the target there victims, define them in their good numbers so that if victim A does not fall, victim B will surely fall to their tactics. Most scams like to focus on a group of people or take advantage of disasters like war to scam people. When there is war, people will want to hold their access in a digital way. For instance, if there is war, real estate people are likely to be losing. So, selling a land to buy a digital asset will not be a bad opinion to do. But what happens is that many novice will fall to their scam because they will likely dive into what they do not understand and get scammed.

Scammers are just everywhere, both on the street and mostly on the internet. They all have different victims whom they are targeting. They use your good heart for trusting easily to their own advantage. Sometimes they also target those who are desperately in need, seeking to find a celebrity lover online, and they make you believe they are the one behind the screen, build trust with you and end up scamming you. And the other part of it is when they bring up charity in front, making you feel like you are donating to charity due to something happening in that area, either due to COVID-19, a flood or whatever could be used to gain sympathy from their victims.

It would have been nice if you give more details about how this work so that people can take precaution because your post left so much suspense. In the case of natural disaster, the safest people are those who have digital assets which are assets they don't need to carry about. If you have a house or a car, you might lose them to natural disaster but if you have Bitcoin, you just need to locate your portable hardware wallet and also steel plate where you may have written your seed phrase and put them in your pocket and you are good to go.

Why will someone transfer custody of their digital asset to someone during natural disaster? Oh maybe incase he/she dies from the disaster. For such a case, there is nothing too serious about it because the person you are transferring your assets to supposed to be your beneficiary. If you say we should be careful of choosing beneficiary, then it is understandable.

Firstly, if anyone should request for a private detail without meeting sounds suspicious and an observant person will notice easily. Online scam is the easiest way anyone could practice without being caught during the process yet I’m surprised scam like this still happen, if considering this method as a fast way probably people falling victim are dump and slow to realize. The first mistake is entrusting your information to an unknown person, we clearly see investors complain most times about their investment after trusting a friend or siblings, no doubt asset like bitcoin should be kept private.

I think there might be some people who are too trusting to let someone manage their crypto portfolio who they met online or in an online dating. For me, I wouldn't trust that person at all unless I am married to that person where she is in other country for work but if it's only a girlfriend then I wouldn't trust that much. It's better if you manage it yourself even if there's a disaster. There are scammers everywhere so it's not a good thing for someone who you met online and you let that person manage your portfolio.

You raised good point that asking for personal information without meeting in person is suspicious and should make people cautious. It is surprising that online scams still work, by the way it is not hard to notice warning signs. You are right that giving sensitive information to someone you do not know is big mistake. We have seen that many investors just lost money to scams because they trusted friends or family or people they knew. It is good to keep things like Bitcoin private and safe to avoid being scammed and losing money.

Even some people self finds it very difficult to trust even their wife and those who are close to them even their own children, they just have serious trust issues, sometimes it’s good like that as it could save the person from sort of trouble future which could be caused by trusting the wrong person.

Even some people self finds it very difficult to trust even their wife and those who are close to them even their own children, they just have serious trust issues, sometimes it’s good like that as it could save the person from sort of trouble future which could be caused by trusting the wrong person.

when it comes to dealing with people online, it requires you to be at the top of your game. if you easily trust people in real life and carry that kind of mentality online, you are going to get easily scammed. one thing I have learned is that everyone is a suspect until there's a genuine reason to believe otherwise. You don't get to talk with someone online and show yourself as a vulnerable person who should dish out personal details to the person regardless of how close you have been with the person.

scammers are everywhere and can get their victims through the means you least expect. 50% of online dating are all fake and filled with scammers who are just interested in getting your money or assets and dump you like you never existed. they don't even need your country to face any crises before coming after you. just by the information they can gather about you online and suspect that you are a bit rich, you have become their target.

That's because they have different decision making so people think that it's better to make the decision alone rather than having someone decides for the funds which will make it more complicated. It's better of they can only receive advice about what to do than having someone who can stop you from your decisions in situations where you both have to decide with the funds compared to you alone making decisions. The person you trust might have taken the funds already when you are busy with your work in real life.

It is common practice for scammers to use bad happenings like war, crisis and natural disasters to engage in scams. It might come in the form of donations,.love scams, business proposal, etc. it this time people are desperate to to help or get help which makes than vulnerable to scammers.

Quote
So be warned if you find yourself in the respective situation not to fall into scammers trap by entrusting your crypto assets on distress.
I have the mindset that everyone I meet on social media cannot be trusted until I verify their authenticity. The social platforms are scammers heaven, there is need to be cautious. How will you entrust your crypto asset to a stranger when it is designed to promote privacy.

You made mention of dating sites and yes that's another means through which they get their targets. Many people still patronise these online dating sites and they have suffered hack, scam and lots more which they can not come up publicly to talk about for others to learn from because they know they made mistake and maybe they were warned but they refused to listen.

These days people ought to be more cautious and careful about their engagements and activities online because the internet is not friendly anymore as hackers and scammers have made it so porous now that there is nothing safe online anymore unless it takes a level of secrecy to have some updates and information well secured.

You don't have to act like such is impossible to happen, no one ever expects they would be scammed but on the process it all becomes a nightmare to them befalling scam victims.
You can rain abuses on such victims if you're aggrieve of them not being knowledgeable from such common scamming tricks.
Let me tell you, that little thing you don't know is bigger than you and until you're aware of it, you wouldn't know it exists for real.
Casting blames and abuses on them doesn't contribute good efforts rather bringing the ideal to their awareness and how they can stay scam free at any give course is indeed so they can be guided as they plays along in the future.

Fraud and scams have existed since men roamed naked on the planet so it's nothing new. However, what may be news is the development of a strategy that could make people easily identify and prevent scammers from stealing from them. We all know that such a system does not exist. So the best information we can give people is to understand the risks involved in investing their funds, especially in businesses that they know little or nothing about. As a rule, it is better to err on the side of caution. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
