I think the very obvious is that when we are affected financially, then we should stop gambling right away. We don't need to wait till we lost our life savings and then we take out loans to banks and or individual to fuel our gambling addiction. Also, maybe we just don't noticed yet, but not just financial strain, but mental strain as well. So if we get anxious, depressed because of gambling then that is another signal that we should quit. But when we are really that addicted, it's not that easy and most of the time there should be some kind of intervention from family and medical professional. Also there could be gamblers that really into it because they just want to escape their problems, which is not the solution as you are only making your problem worst.

At some point, a gambler begin to realize that gamble is based on luck and a gambler can not know the result of the games or predictions he has made until the games ends. However if gamblers continues to try their luck and it's not working out well for them, a day will come when the gambler will decide to quit gamble for long or for ever. This is the psychological problem of gamblers. A gambler can never think normally because the gambling algorithm controls his brain in such a way that he is always tempted to win something big. And an addicted gambler continues to gamble on that temptation even though he knows how terrible gambling is and that he cannot win his next round with confidence.

These factors is I think the major reason on why gambler decide to stop gambling.
