Yes, definitely we are all proud of Alex of what she accomplished. Although I have heard of her name before and read her accomplishment, this is the first time that she really hit that hard and beating 3 former champions.

She is rank in the 70's already, so that is a huge jump from her rankings. We can only hope that she will continue to make new record for Filipinos and for Asians as well as the Chinese are the only Asians that are really doing good in this sports. But now that we have a Filipino, could mark as a new sports that we might excel, although this sports is very expensive to begin with and not all Filipino can make it.

The best is yet to come for this teenage Filipina sensation. I have seen some of the highlights of her games and she has solid serves and is almost perfect on all her hittings.
She is still developing; the Philippine government and private institutions should support her training abroad. Tennis is not the Philippines main sport, but with all her achievements hugging the headlines, many will become interested to know more about tennis, just like they did about gymnastics when Carlos Yulo won a double gold medal in the last Olympics.

For sure, now that she got the attention and the country, she might get some support from our private institutions similar to what they gave to Diaz or even Carlos Yulo recently. And that is the thing for Filipino businessman, perhaps MVP will support Alex or San Miguel corporation's Ramon Ang.

So let's hope that Alex will continue on her winning ways and again the dream her is for Alex to win a Grand Slam. That is the ultimate dream of every tennis player and Alex would chase that and again, hopefully she will be crown one day.

I know she has been playing since she was a little kid, and she deserves to be one of the top. I really am proud of her seeing her progress. With what she achieved, I believe she has plenty more opportunities to get back and get even higher results for this one.

For other sports like tennis or even boxing, athletes are often left on their own, struggling to find good promoters to make their dreams come true. The biggest problem is the country's economy, and the people in government are too focused on politics neglecting things that could actually bring glory to the country.
Thats true. Pacman didnt gain such achievement with the help of Govt, but they keep being proud or getting credits for that. I think its time for them to gave some serious support to sports athletes. I dont know if there are some politicians pass law or any bill that get funsing for the athletes to let them have support for more worldwide nationwide competition. I think on Basketball they are supported majority by private companies.

I like the idea, not just basketball but the government should provide deeper support, we do have talents but without financial supports they might ends up wasting thier talents and skills, unlike with other countries they supporting their local talents making sure that they'll be able to developed and be competitive to whatever competition they'll show their talents.

Hopefully it's just the beginning of more success for Alex as she's still young and very promising.. Good Job and Congrats she deserves the limelight such acheivements brings proud not just for herself but for the whole nation that she represent.

I was not aware that Alex was injured in the semis, Fully recovered Eala braces for clay season.

So we will found out if she really has what it takes to become a champion because clay surface is very different. It's slow unlike the grass or hard court. And there are players that are really good in fast surfaces and then players who are good at clay.

We will see how good she is if he can adjust of this type of surfaces or really just be focusing on just one, like grass or the hard court.

Just want to make this thread active again as Eala (currently seed #31) is having her winning streaks again at WTA Indian Wells advancing in the next round after Coco (seed #4) retired due to injury. This Filipina tennis player is making noise in the world of tennis sports as she has quite good following among her Filipino fans. After Dubai's stint and now at BNP Paribas Open 2026.

She was ranked 140 last year, same time of the year and now she's seed #31 already. And advancing in the recent match with Coco, I guess, she's going up again..Quite a feat for this player. No wonder, endorsements are now coming at her doorstep. One major sponsorship is Nike, experiencing what they so-called "Eala Effect" on Nike Sales. "Sampaguita Storm" Collection: Following the US Open, Eala collaborated with a Filipino designer to launch a collection inspired by the Philippine national flower, which led to a "rush to place orders," causing Nike to increase production by 10 times."

Her run just ended though, as she lost to Noskova, 2-6, 0-6. It was one of here worst beating if I may recall, specially in the last set wherein she didn't even score a points. Sad ending for her and the fans who have been supporting Alex. But I guess this is just another lesson for her and Alex might claim a bit higher in the next running release. As I have said, lessons so that in the next competition that she will joined, he might go and reach the finals or even won a tournament. She is still very young and if Eala, a lot of room for improvement and for sure her coach is taking notes on which area they need to address more.

I doubt she would have lost this much if she properly fought against a fit Coco,,, but nice to see someone in sports you can easily identify with. I am not Filipina but same region,,, wish I knew about her earlier Smiley

Very important for her to learn and not get too much ahead, and for us also to not give too high expectations. Good thread, we should keep track of her progress Smiley

Ah good observation, it might have not the blessing in disguise for Eala if she fought Coco and won instead of Coco defaulting the match because she has a injury (and explaining to Alex after they congratulate in the middle).

So sometimes this kind of walk-out win is not good for certain players like Alex as she turn out to be cold in her next game and lost by a mile and you might not think that it was the actual score because it's Alex, just too bad for her fans who supported here.

In particular the WTA side of Tennis is really more unpredictable than the ATP side. Aside from Sabalenka
all other players can beat each other at any time - even Swiatek particularly, in Grand Slams.

Eala is definitely a rising star and has a lot of work to do yet too. She is now currently at 32 ranking, I would
love to see more of the players in the top 10 or 20 well able to vie for and win grand slams and masters titles.

It’s good that I missed the game because I didn’t end up betting. I probably would have taken Alexandra Eala even if she was the underdog, but it turned out to be another bad performance, she lost 2-0 and it wasn’t even close. Skill wise she still has a lot to improve. Honestly her previous win also had some luck involved when Coco Gauff retired due to injury.

But she’s still young and if she keeps joining more tournaments we’ll probably see more improvement from her.
Hopefully with more experience her level will rise significantly.

So sometimes this kind of walk-out win is not good for certain players like Alex as she turn out to be cold in her next game and lost by a mile and you might not think that it was the actual score because it's Alex, just too bad for her fans who supported here.

Alex seems struggling on the later part of the tournament especially if she recently beat a formidable high rank opponent on the qualifiers.

Her stamina in the late games is drastically drained compared to other athletes that can still perform better even after a long raply match.

I hope for improvement in the long run as she gain more experience from higher rank athletes. It’s good to place bet on her with qualifiers match since she is formidable when still full stamina.

So it had been a year since this post.

I became a fan of Alex Eala just recently, and not just because of the hype, but because she is truly a good tennis player. I can say this young lady has a lot of future ahead of her, and even other women tennis players are grateful to her because of lifting the number of audience through her performances, and of course, the support of the Filipino people. She became the highest-ranked Filipina player to reach the WTA Finals, so yes, she will definitely get the spotlight.

Sadly, she lost against Noskova, but now she will have more eyes on her. I will probably start betting for her in the next tennis league that she will join.

In big tournaments like the current one she seems to struggle a bit, and yeah you pointed it right, stamina really looks like the problem. She also seems to lose focus easily when the first set doesn’t go in her favor. So if I were to bet on Alex Eala, I’d probably just look at the first set markets since that’s where her energy is still high.

I think Alex still has a lot to improve but that’s part of the process, and she already has strong support from the crowd wherever she plays which should help her grow even more.

There is contest in the games and rounds section about the Indian Wells Masters. As fellow Filipino, eventhough I know Alex probably won’t win the tournament, I still chose her as my pick in the prediction. (I first submitted Sabalenka)
I’m just proud of Alex because aside from being the first Filipina to compete in Round 16 Indian Wells, she is also getting recognition as one of the reasons why more people are watching the women’s tournament now. She had an interview about this, so you can just watch it if you want to know more.

Yup, fans are everywhere not just for the Pilipinos but there are international fans as well who are supporting her, I see your observation is true, she struggles the most when she already losses first set, her focus bothered her, though still too young to pursue her career but he already bring pride to the country she represent, there are a lots of time for her and lots of expereinced that will give her reasons to continue improving her game, though her campaign on both single and double already ended we will see her in her next tournament..
