Yes, based on my own experience, I used to have a lot of mining applications that are similar to PI when I was active on mobile mining and I noticed a significant drop in battery life; it can even reduce the lifespan of a high-end cellphone.
And there are articles and studies that you can find online that can proved it but there are developers who claim that their cell mining application claims to be energy efficient but you have to prove that yourself. My advice is to never install more than 3 mobile mining applications, as it will shorten your cell's lifespan.

There have not been any offic8al research in this aspect but common sense will tell you that installing apps to you phone will occupy space and some will come with risk  to the data in your phone. It is not news that through application installation is how some malicious softwares are installed in your phones. So you should be extremely careful when installing applications and links from unknown sources.

I now install several applications such as StarTowerChain, ROAM, Uplink I honestly don't pay attention to how the cellular performance is because at this time it is still fine maybe if it is examined it can affect the performance of the cellphone.

Yes so far do not install much for mining applications that can waste the increasingly wasteful battery that is tried on the old mobile.

If you want information on this matter I would rather recommend you to check on the reviews and experienced posted by other users of those mobile mining applications on forums or on reddit, I am sure you could find some information of how taxing those mining algorithms are to phones, depending of their ram, ROM, processor and even size of battery.

Though, I believe the best thing one can do when comes to those kinds of applications is to use common sense, obviously there will be further demand against the precessor an battery of the phone and that undoubtly will shorten the lifespan of the hardware in the long term. A phone which could perfectly function for 3 years before presenting any failures, will start to malfunction on 1 or 2 years of intensive use of those mining algorithms.
Someone needs to check the specifications of the phone itself and the demand/price of the coin one intends to mine and then sell at market price.

because apparently there are many mobile mining that didn't actually mine anything since token is pre minted and dev just distribute the token to their users who do some mundane things such as repeatedly clicking the app and count the reward based on that.
it doesn't mine anything because it doesn't solve mathematical problem, so if that's the case it won't affect mobile performance.

pretty different if by installing app somehow the devs requires your computing power to solve problem, then it's mining, but you can easily notice this kind of mining because if they truly do mining in your mobile app, it'd be recorded on battery usage history, etc.

If an actual project uses the CPU of the phone then it is going to affect its performance. That is kinda too deep but that's possible so, be careful with the apps these projects you download because you'll never know if they're going to drain your CPU an other components.

Yeah, that's a real thing if it's starting to produce heat which means that your power, CPU and other hardware are being used for mining the token. And if that looks trouble then I'd gladly stop from mining. I know that there are people who are solely doing that as a type of business because they're hunting for airdrops and projects like that and they want to collect as much tokens as they can. if they can invest into these smartphones, that's fine for them. But if you're the type of guy that doesn't have much resources and you're using your main smartphone for mining that, better stop.

Mobile mining seems to be the only Pi I've seen listed on some of the top exchanges here in the crypto space. Though, 6 years have passed before it was listed on crypto exchanges. But it doesn't mean that it's really legit that can be said right away, so of course Dyor still needs to be done.

Now, the other mining apps on mobile, I haven't seen any that can really be considered legit because once you accumulate a let's say okay amount,
it seems like you will redeem what you accumulated via mining on their apps in which is when those apps are scammers.

Not only the performance is going to be impacted, but you also have to take into notice you are guaranting people you don't know direct access to your mobile device. Does it worth giving up on your privacy, integrity and privacy just to earn some pennies?

I don't think so, unless you have an exclusive mobile device for crypto applications, what means you aren't going to compromise any personal data on the process.

Anyway, be careful with the apps you download and run on your device. The profit you made through some of them may be scammed through a malicious app designed by scammers...

Those mining apps consume a good size of space on your device and that can slow down you fastness of your phone. Always mining will make your battery life span shorter because it consumes a lot of energy since it's something that you must be doing often.

The worst of all is when you download the wrong app with malware, you will lose all funds if your wallet is on that device.

All mobile based mining that i have seen so far, have been either bad ideas, some level of scams, whether it's movement based nonsense or requiring computing power / memory. You only have to think few seconds of it to see whom it's targeting and how they are profiting.

You are better off staying away and frankly i am amazed how people will fall this again and again. It's going to be hyip investments and cloud mining pyramid scams next, because apparently there's no need for new types of scams.

Yeah, as the answer is too obvious. Definitely it affects it. Mobile mining apps are not different from the other apps that we use daily. They eat RAM, phone storage, battery, etc.... Depending on our phone and how the app is built, our phone might get slow or not totally struggle. Mobile mining is like a gimmick only because they are not built for them. What happen is that we are only being shown a mining animation and then we are only being given by a crypto directly.

Even though we say they are not too heavy, they can still be a waste of time and some might be risky as they have a malware which can can steal our data's. So it is not worth it to have them.

I would suggest you to be very cautious before installing any mobile crypto mining app. These apps do not consume much of your mobile resources but they can surely steal your personal data. Ensure that you do not give access to your contacts or photos or to any other apps available on your mobile.

Some of the mining apps consumes alot of ram. When your phone ram is not high, the phone will start to lagg. Even if you have a good ram, for the fact that you will be mining always means the app will be running steadily in your device. The speed and the battery of the phone will be affected on the long run.

To be on a safer side, go for a phone with;
High ram;
High battery capacity;
High processor;

in practice, 'real' mobile mining will affect the device used, since the application uses resources such as ram and cpu that work continuously. this intensive use of resources will affect the performance of the device, especially when users install more than one mobile mining application on their device, these applications will work simultaneously and this will slow down the cpu - and on older devices the cpu performance may work harder, causing heat, it can shorten the life of the device. and therefore most miners use old devices, in addition to saving costs, if the device is damaged they only need to replace it with a new one.

Also just to add, most mobile phone doesn't have active cooling, even opening the "fake"mining app continuously despite not solving any math problem or something like that, might wear out the phone's life time.
So it's really not recommended to do this, mobile phone aren't built for this kind of thing and anyone better off doing the real mining through desktop or even build their own servers.

Most of these mobile mining app are scam anyway.
