When I recently joined the forum, I sometimes make researches to know more about Bitcoin and out of excitement of learning new things I never knew about Bitcoin, I would want to create a topic with the hope that I'm imparting knowledge to forum members but at the end, I get backlash from majority of people here telling me that such topics have already been discussed and that there was nothing new about it. As a result of the unexpected reactions, I most times end up having low self esteem and losing my confidence to interact with people here. The resulting effect made leave the forum for a very long time until a day I finally picked up courage to drop this post here under the topic "Hi, I'm new here". That very day, I got a very encouraging reply for legendary member that helped me to develop interest in learning more about Bitcoin as well as engage in insightful conversations with more meaningful and impactful submissions (I'm still developing my knowledge though).

So as a newbie, you should understand that most of the new things you learn about Bitcoin are already known to over 85% of members of the forum and as such, it must have formed a topic that was created and discussed on the forum by someone else which is why it is very important you make use the search button to research about any topic you intend to create here before posting.

I don't want you to make the kind of mistakes I made and that's why I'm putting this up here, I hope at the end someone learns from it.
I was in your shoes when I joined the forum and some of my posts was reported to moderator and the post was deleted but that didn't stop me from learning the forum. However everyone learn from their mistakes but only a fool don't learn after making a huge mistake. Actually my point is that everyone have been on that stage before so don't let anyone discourage you from doing what you think is good for you and others, but try to see reasons with other even when they make a harsh replys on your post.

Learning never ends, we keep learning everyday and that's just what this forum is anchored on. There's no need of having a feeling of low esteem when talked down on for anything rather it should be a means to grow thick skin and develop your mind with it. Sometimes the topic newbies recreates could be topics that have been recently discussed on or still in discussions and that's why forum members tend to point it to newbies about their ignorance.

However, there are topics that are being discussed that have been created a very long time ago and as knowledge evolve such topics are being recreated to add to our knowledge with the new developments. But it's always important to bring to the forum fresh new informative and quality topics for discussion.

It is hard for newbies to come into the forum and use the search engine to see him the topic that they wanted to post has already been posted by someone earlier. They're too eager to draw your attention to them thinking that's the best way out. However, as time passes on and you are always active in the forum, you will learn a lot and will not forget to use the search engine. If you're a member in this forum, you must have a thick skin so that you can tolerate forum members replies and grow fast.
If you want to last longer in the forum, aside from stretching out your patience, you should also learn to accept positive and negative criticisms as long as the intention is to mold you and develop your best version. Don’t get carried away with your emotions, negative comments are just temporary and once they’ve seen you progress, those will shift into acknowledgment and appreciation.

Now on the topic that has already been discussed earlier, if you can make it more informative and educative on part of the newbies and even the old members, that will definitely arouse more interest and create a good interaction with the rest of the members.

It is absolutely fine if someone is a complete newbie and doesn't even know how to use the search function to start a thread and ask a question if the question is genuine and they couldn't find the answer to it. The problem is that if a similar thread already exists on the first two or three pages of a section and you are still creating a new one without even reading at least the titles of the already existing threads.

Doing research is another thing, but if you are in a forum, and you can't find the answer to a question that you have, you can go ahead and ask your question and people will help you out if you are a newbie. There is no shame in that. Smiley

Mistakes are what makes us human. Personally i'm not affraid to make mistakes, as there's always someone who will go out of their way to correct me. Live and learn is my motto.
So what if you make a mistake, what's the worst that can happen? You get a bad rep? Do you really worry what some randos on forum think of you?

If a newbie creates a spammy and unnecessary thread, he might experience criticism from here. It would discourage his interest in the forum. That's the reason often I advise new users to use the forum search button before they create a new thread. Even Google Search would help you to find some data about what you want to know. So it will help to reduce spam from the forum.

Introducing yourself on the forum isn't a bad thing. But it must be polite and not spammy anyway. The forum should be treated as a crypto academy, and you must read as much as possible rather than posting here. Once you learn, then you can contribute to the forum as well. So try to be a good forum user and learn from other users.

Re: Make Necessary Research Before Posting a New Topic.
That's the rule. This is because many people are more than 10 years old here. They have seen different types of newbies, they have answered different types of questions, they have created and read different types of threads. So, when you approach the forum with redundancy, it will backlash
Your post should discuss something;
  • New
  • Old idea in a new way
  • Avoid creating duplicated threads
  • Don't create threads with earning merits in mind, rather to impact forum users by then, merits will come.

It really gets boring seeing old repeated topics in different format and different boards all because the poster many at times fails to check to see if such an idea of a post has already been made.

In many of the cases I prefer for myself, I get to follow an initiative to do my own research and create a topic that I know is original and has not been posted before. Where I can't get a link to show source, it might have just been created from scratch with only as little as Internet access to verify few facts.

I don't want you to make the kind of mistakes I made and that's why I'm putting this up here, I hope at the end someone learns from it.
Most of the topics you can think about related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are usually been posted here, but posting them usually have advantage because it will serve as a reminder to some newbies that don’t know how to look for the threads.

Usually, the forum search bottom is the best place to search for any thread you are willing to search for and you will get the desired result, if the result didn’t match what you were looking for, then you can create new thread to share your knowledge you have  or ask the question you wants.

It's okay to make mistakes. We learn from them and that's how we grow, just the same way you have learnt from your mistake. I've had my own share of criticism in the forum but i didn't run away instead it made me stronger and it left me with valuable lesson, I don't think it's everyone that knows how to use the search button, I'm speaking for myself actually, for example you have a thread you want to create and you first use the search button to know if the topic has been created before but I'm thinking, what if the subject of your thread is different from the subject of the other user but the content are similar? You used the subject you have in mind to search if something like that has been posted before but it shows you that it hasn't been posted because the other user used a different subject. I really don't know how the search button works.

in life whatever you do people must find a way to make you feel less of yourself but then you dont have to give up. to survive in this forum you must need to grow thick skin to be able to withstand the pressure of critics. you shouldn't have gone into extinction or exile just because of what people said about you or you thread. just bear it in mind that any information you bring will either be helpful or offensive to people depending on the person in question or how you present it. lets say the newbies will take any information seriously but some old members will find it offensive.

Sometimes I don't blame those newbies that hastily create threads here because like the others mentioned it is out of excitement to feel among that causes such to occur but where I have issues are those newbies who on their first thread upon registration is to open threads that are geared towards teaching other newbies how to behave here. I mean, c'mon! What do you know about this place that you want to give to the others? Except you are an old user using your alt but then, it still doesn't make sense.
Learning never stops but the you learn more when you observe, read, research than when you always try to teach. Even those who are knowledgeable enough about a subject don't always spread their knowledge about except they are asked.

In order to avoid getting a lot of criticism from users in the future for creating an obvious and easily solved question, or a topic, or news that is not lightning for the forum, you need to use the search. It is very simple and will look adult.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5276341.0

However, no matter what we say here, no matter what the OP tries to teach, the topics in question, that is, zero value, were, are, and will be created. Those who have been on the forum for a long time see between the lines the purpose of creating such topics. However, for everyone who likes to fish for merits, it is time to come up with something new and interesting, since creating duplicate topics in our time practically does not bring merit, compared to how it was before.

But yes, if a topic with news that is already on the forum was created by accident, and you were told about the duplicate, do not be lazy to press the bottom button to block the topic.

No one knows everything so if you are genuinely posting something out of excitement to share a piece of knowledge that you feel will be helpful for others then don't let the negative reactions to discourage you. Everyone started same as you from scratch and with different people all over the world, might see things differently and why some users discourage is to avoid the users who are merit fishing.

We are here to learn, sometimes it's about bitcoin and sometimes it's about forum so just take things as positives and make use of it. Kudos for bringing back your courage and I hope this will boost you more. Smiley

*Not yet legendary though.
Thanks for the words of encouragement mate. Before reading this post, I used to think that it's a big sin here to create a topic that have been discussed before now and that's because i faced negative reactions from members who criticized a post I once made, citing that something similar have been discussed already. There's no plan for me to deliberately discuss a topic that I already know have been discussed but now, I'll be more courageous to discuss my new learnings about Bitcoin without the fear of being heavily criticized

Right on this exact thread you opened, threads like this have also been discussed. There have been so many repeated threads in the forum, and most times the newly created ones are more educational and contain better details than the former. It is better to also cross check the threads, if it's a question demanding answer, you can get them from the already created topics instead of creating another.

Those may not be criticisms sometimes, learn not to always make it look that way, the manner used to approach you will be different by members, some don't mind saying things unbothered, take the correction and move on.

Posting a new topic is easy, but if you want to make it more creative and informative, you need to go an extra mile and make a thorough research. That's what all forum posters should take into consideration prior to posting new threads, but laziness and lack of focus become a hindrance. That's why a lot of new posts come out redundant, or not that interesting at all. I'm talking not only for newbies but even to those high ranks also.

however making research before creating a topic makes it to look more meaningful because by then you most have make intensive research about that particular thing you wish to discuss, by so doing people will find your topic more interesting and as well meaningful. Not just creating a random topic that can't even make any sense, though most people is not used to making research before they can be able to create a topic. So as far as they have important things to say about the topic they will just arrange it in such a way that it will be very meaningful.

Not all posts actually require you to make research under the account that it wouldn't fall in the category of spam. Actually one of the most common of that particular thing is posts that require help especially technical ones. I wouldn't see it as a big deal for example if a member had problems with his transaction and decided to share it here to get it fixed.

You would agree with me that there are countless of those kinds of posts on the forum that won't be considered as spamming because they aren't. On the contrary, it's different from trying to impact knowledge without having an organic writeup.

Learning comes with appreciation and criticisms. Don't be so affected with them. But it's a good reminder also not to bring the same topic that you have known have been discussed in the forum, the forum members will resort into thinking that you are not doing your due diligence to come up with new and interesting topics.

Make necessary research because you have to, but if you miss out some of them and find your topics too good not to be shared, then you're free to share and just add new information that will make the topic more interesting for others.

Learning never ends, we keep learning everyday and that's just what this forum is anchored on. There's no need of having a feeling of low esteem when talked down on for anything rather it should be a means to grow thick skin and develop your mind with it.
Learning continues; where one person's knowledge stops, that’s where the next person’s own continues. We learn every day, and the most important thing is being open to taking corrections when you are being offered one and not to claim you know it all, as that can temper with your learning process, and that’s also applicable with the forum. You can learn the hard way, grow thick skin, or take offense from where you are being genuinely corrected.
