I have been an active member of this community since 2018.
I think I gave a lot, and of course, I have also received a lot. But over the last weeks it was the first time I have been properly annoyed by one member of this community (Well, there was a previous case, but this is another story).

My telegram handle is not public, but someone was smart enough to contact me over Telegram by finding my handle.

I received a call from an unknown contact.

Then a chat appeared:

	Tanya Called	Tanya became Alvy. Of course he is a smart guy
	The guy was quite pushy	Continued

Now he is blocked, and my Telegram handle was changed to make it less easily guessable.
I understand this is part of the game, but it made me feel unwell, as as I clearly state on my merit thread:

Let alone ringing my phone and harassing me with a merit request.

Not good, people should learn how to stay cultured.

I have benefited from that thread, so have many others, and all you did was voluntarily, not every merit source does what you do, and so wrong for anyone to address you in this manner.

You can try adjusting your call settings in privacy setup on who can call you, if the person can be smart to find out your TG ID then may also try to get the newly changed ID.

This is really annoying, too be honest,  you have been one of the most generous merit sources with consistency.

I wonder if they would also do that with other merit sources but I guess that is if they can get their Telegram ID. Anyway,  I guess we can this is just another stage of trolling which is still annoying even than that done here.

If i were you, i could have asked him to PM you in the forum so that you can access his posts specially. Then if he does that you just Red tag that account. Though i feel he is smart enough to know the consequence otherwise he could have done that by sending you a PM in the forum instead of sending you a DM on telegram. I think it should be one of those desperate newbies that are hoping to get merits from you. However, you tried by doing the needful which was to block that desperate merit beggar nincompoop

Unfortunately, people don't know that there are boundaries or red lines that should never be crossed. The behavior of this user is totally unacceptable. Your commendable contribution to the forum is selfless or voluntary. So someone trying to invade your privacy and commanding you is highly condemnable.

It is also good to know that regardless of this harassment, you have decided to continue your good work on the forum. You didn't allow the misbehavior of an individual to affect others. Some people are just agents of confusion.

I would  advise you to automatcially block all incoming Telegram calls, unless made by one of your contacts.

For extra privacy you can also delete your username alltogether so only those who know your phone number or that are in the same group as you can contact you first.

Allowing calls from anyone was definitely an oversight.
And has been corrected the minute after I realised I left that toggle unselected.
Removing the username seems a little bit hardcore, as I prefer not to share the mobile associated with that username, even if it into the one I regularly use and it is not linked to my ID as it is KYC free.

with telegram, you would much rather people know your username than your phone number.
if your phone number gets leaked by one of your contacts, that would be much more annoying to deal with as you can't change your phone number that easily as changing your username.

People are so selfish. When someone had voluntarily made up his mind to do something good it is true that people will want to take advantage of that good to pay him bad. Giving of merit is a personal thing from a merit source he chooses to share merit to whoever he wants to that he deems his post quality enough to merit. Whatever way he chooses to share it either by creating a merit thread or randomly specializing on specific board to merit.

Fillippone has been one of the most consistent merit givers and last month I was surprised how he shared a lot of merits from his account in less than a few days. I don't know why someone will send this type of message to him. This is insane and inhumane.

It seems this days a lot of people are becoming eager to get merits by all means and the user that messaged and called you via telegram because of merits have shown that he's very desperate for it and can't wait for his own turn just as others are waiting for theirs. However, you are a good merit source with a kind heart, and you trying your best to giving out merits to quality posters.

IMO the person that messaged you on telegram is a lazy person that can't make quality posts on the forum to receive his own merits rather he chooses to post only on merits giveaway and charity threads.
Am sure even though he gave you his profile link you wouldn't have seen any quality post to send merit to because if there any he would have gotten merits by himself without disturbing you.
Actually the user is lucky because by now he would have gotten what he deserves.

Not if you have your phone number hidden as well, which is something everyone has (or at least everyone should have it hidden).
And without username and with phone number hidden, the chances of situation like in the first post is basically non existent.

Some persons don't know how to talk or a better statement to be used at right time while some persons also failed to be patient in what they do, I am one of the beneficiary in that your thread and the thread is not also stagnant but moving I believe such person is just inpatient and desperate which is a bad habit.

This is the attitude of someone that is desperate and will end up spoiling the goodwill others are enjoying. Like others, I have benefited from that thread of yours and I did not take it as a right but a privilege for which I'm grateful to you for your benevolence. You have your life to life and other engagements to attend to, what gave that fellow the audacity to order you around as though he employed you for that purpose. I suggest you change your privacy settings in Telegram and if please don't let him change the good person you are. Many of us appreciate what you do and we hold you in high esteem, always remember that in a public place such as this, there will always be few bad guys that would want to spoil things for others.

Someone spend time looking to find out which is your telegram account? How smart could that guy be in finding out private contact. If you made sure you keep your telegram account private, then it could be someone you already knew in the past who you chat with from this forum?

Anyway, you have changed your handle already. If that guy still figured it out. He really is that determined to ask for merits. My guess is that you have given him negative before.

He seems to be a disgruntled troll too who was trying to look for your attention... Why would he have to even look up your telegram handle for starters.

I think the clue about this person is;
1. Recently translated one of your posts but did not get merited, and now he feels pissed off he was not noticed
2. Most likely a low ranking account trying to farm for merits
3. English language is certainly not his first language. From the phone number, it shows registered from Bangladesh. I would start by looking at the recent translators from that Board.

This is an intentional act of harassment from that user, it's obvious he doesn't have anything good to state, hence his just disturbing your peace. Maybe you skipped his post and he's just getting back at you. Getting merits isn't his right, it's your benevolence and you're right for getting angry at what I'll call a gross misconduct, embarrassment and bad netiquette from such user.

Such misbehavior can prompt someone to retract his steps on good intentions, but I commend you on how you handled him civilly and with great maturity. Your good works to the community are well appreciated Fillipone, I'll want you to always remember that.

That's annoying. Anyway, some privacy settings that might help in such cases:

- Phone Number: Nobody
- Calls: My Contacts
- Voice Messages: My Contacts (option available only with Telegram Premium)
- Messages: My Contacts or Premium users (option available only with Telegram Premium)

You also did the right thing by changing your Telegram username to ghost them, but if you have these settings, even if they find your handle again somehow, they will probably not be able to text or call you.

This is annoying. Some people like taking someone's kind gesture as their right, while they are being stupid of it. They never thought about the person who has been kind to them all along. He needs to be praised and shown some level of respect, not to PMed him unnecessarily when he is doing everything for the love he has for the forum members.

I am pleading you shouldn't let this stupid act get to you as that much to change your mind on post-review because many people have gained a whole lot, and others will still gain from your kind gesture of post-review for the merits of good posts by you.

I agree with you. It is possible for a lazy person to say such things, how low can he stoop, how can he say these things. If someone has even the slightest knowledge, he will never be able to say such things. As the saying goes, in the present time, the number of educated people is high, but well-educated people are very few, this is a proof of that.

From what I have seen, @fillippone is one of the consistent Merit donors. fillippone is always monitoring the merits of the general users of the forum through his own responsibility and tireless work. I can say without a doubt that this is a great job.

I don't know, but there are some cases where your number will be hidden without a username set on your profile. Some people can still see your mobile number. I don't know if it's just a feature for a specific person, maybe the premium users or something.

Is anyone using Telegram Premium who can confirm if that feature is available for them? Because I have been contacted before at my mobile number, which I'm very sure is hidden and has only been used on Telegram, which makes me use online-generated numbers for Telegram, which is not linked to any of my identity.
