I understand that the most obvious answer right now is money. However, this is not just about money and technology. Bitcoin serves as a laboratory to explore ethical, social, and philosophical questions about the future of money, power, and freedom.

Topics such as the concept of individual sovereignty raise profound questions about economic freedom. The idea of distributed trust opens the door to reflections like: Can humanity genuinely move towards systems that eliminate traditional hierarchies? Ethical and environmental issues also fuel debates about the extent to which Bitcoin’s energy consumption is justified by the freedom it provides. The digital scarcity introduced by Bitcoin, with its finite limit of 21 million coins, touches on how we value things in an era where digital content is infinitely reproducible.

Bitcoin is undoubtedly a fascinating phenomenon that transcends its economic aspect.

The increasing rate of Bitcoin adoption, how it has become mainstream, how the value have gone from nothing to a big value in 2025, corporate adoption and institutional investment, all those factor defines the success of Bitcoin in a simple sentence. The rising adoption rate also shows how so many people, different companies, countries and government are much interested in Bitcoin. The evidence is not hidden from the sight of man.

No matter how much you try to paint the whole context, it still rolls back down to profit and money. Let's be sincere , is there anyone that invests in bitcoin only because they like the name or the code or POW mechanism of bitcoin without any interest in the bull run?

What puts bitcoin in a different set of its own from altcoins is the stronger its intensity of adoption compared to every other network. Bitcoiners target profit in the long run because they trust the network unlike altcoins which you can't trust.

Bitcoin revolutionizes many things in the financial system and also as the initiator of the digital world that we usually call crypto currency today in the world because of the existence of bitcoin innovation is growing and continues to grow in various blockchains that are formed and integrated into many things in the world today.

We cannot see the world without closing our eyes that currently developments are very far from what happened in 2013, economists who were once skeptical of bitcoin now see much greater opportunities in the future regarding the economy and also, the technology that bitcoin will bring to disrupt this detrimental global financial system.

Even though today the majority might share your vision, I believe that the founders, along with Satoshi, were more influenced by a philosophical and libertarian perspective than by the hope of becoming rich. I can be, like many, an example. I don’t have bitcoins, I don’t receive donations, nor do I benefit economically from being here. I simply share and support the idea of what it represents because I was born in a country with limited financial freedoms and few opportunities, where effort and knowledge do not necessarily lead to progress.

However, to some extent, you are correct that Bitcoin can be an attractive economic bet.

Money will always be a driving factor as long as Bitcoin is concerned. People invest to make more money; they hold, stake, and trade to achieve a good return where possible. However, this shouldn’t make us forget one of its main aims, which is to drive a transaction process that is not limited or controlled by banks, governments, country codes, locations, etc. People can actually perform safe and secure transactions from anywhere in the world at any time. So, is it a success in this regard? Yes, it’s on track, and with more global adoption and exposure, it should achieve even more.

No matter how much you try to paint the whole context, it still rolls back down to profit and money. Let's be sincere , is there anyone that invests in bitcoin only because they like the name or the code or POW mechanism of bitcoin without any interest in the bull run?
People used to like Bitcoin for its technology and use cases in the initial days of its launch, but the focus shifted after it started getting more public attention and people started realizing that it grows in value over time, and then the norm changed. It took it some time before this concept of investing in Bitcoin to earn money actually started booming because in the initial few years, the price went up, but not that much, but later, it shooted up so high that it caught even more attention and that marked the beginning of a new era of Bitcoin investments from all around the globe.

We all know that Bitcoin wouldn't reach where it is today if it wasn't for the greedy investors who started investing in it for getting profits instead of buying it and using it for what it was originally created for. However, we should be happy, because those of us who generally like the uses cases of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole know that the fame this industry is getting will only make things more interesting over time.

Bitcoin is undoubtedly a fascinating phenomenon that transcends its economic aspect.

While for a rather small and niche set of people it was all about curiosity - either for the technology, either for the freedom it brings - for most it's all about money:
- for most it's about financial gains
- for some is about hiding their stash (and some are hiding it better, some worse)
- for some other it's about making sure nobody else can touch their money
- for some it's about making sure nobody else knows what they do with their money

My feeling is that for the vast majority - no matter it's individuals or corporations, no matter it's miners, traders or investors - it's all about money.

Nah, still boils down to profit, unfortunately. So from average joe to huge entities, they are all here because they know that we can make money in the market.

As much as we have this thoughts of freedom from the old and traditional system, it will not be case. The banking system is here to stay and won't be replaced by Bitcoin. And I think everyone knows that, that's why we have accepted the regulations and the whole KYC and that (pseudo) anonymity no longer exists.

Some though, maybe doesn't like what had happen to Bitcoin, but when it started to be traded, everything falls apart for the cyberpunk movement.

There is no one-size-fits-all interest, but we can agree that for a large number it is about money, even the governments and institutions adopting BTC today as a strategic reserve, it is about how much money they can generate from their BTC's in the future.

Some other people want to stay anonymous, though we can argue that BTC is not the best tool for that because of its public ledger, however, with tools like mixers and CoinJoin implementations, you can achieve that. The point is that it us up to the user to decide what their interest is and what they want to use BTC for, and it is great that BTC can see to many use cases.

Definitely bitcoin has many aspects that challenge the way we think. It might just be one of the most innovative things created in the last 20 years. If we are to think about what makes bitcoin successful, we could make a whole thesis about it. If no one hasn’t done yet. Profit and purpose are obvious answers. Accessibility is a factor as well.

The community also, I would say, plays a very big part in this. The bitcoin community that continues to promote and spread the bitcoin agenda.

User adoption without a doubt. Every time somebody buys something using btc, btc gets stronger and more established. It doesn’t matter what they buy. It could be coffee, domains, hosting, (sadly) illegal stuff… If a person needs btc to buy something, that means btc haven’t lost its use case and it won’t disappear any time soon.

The market price of btc is the least important. Btc might go to $1 million but it won’t mean anything to anybody if nobody’s using it to buy something. If nobody’s using btc to buy any products or services then it is no better than tulips.

That's a good successful achievement of Bitcoin but the main success of Bitcoin is the fact that it supports anonymity, privacy and transparency.
The traditional financial system has made the people slaves to governments, institutions and entities. Bitcoin offers everyone that freedom with their finances like they haven't seen before, this features is amongst the reasons why Bitcoin has received main stream adoption.

Simply put - it's all about the money

Everyone might have something that brought them rather than money but basically it turns to financial gains as time goes on. if I say I'm interested in bitcoin for any other reason it's probably going  to be for privacy and I believe some guys who are financially free already will likely be on the privacy side, for the sole reason of hiding their transactions and how much money they own.

I can also say few got in to bitcoin because they had so much curiosity in the early days of bitcoin.

However, what I think explains bitcoin success is the mere fact that it's a black swan or paradigm, it brought a big shift in thoughts of humans hence leading to creating or millions of altcoins.

.....and freedom.
This can be expounded that much.

We're not bind to the powers and platforms of the centralization that are circulating first, with the government and then next with the banks.

If people see how happy they are holding their own funds and investment through Bitcoin, that's what freedom really is to us. There is no need to wait for the bank to open and there is no intervention needed for both of them.

The fact that it’s staying in the market until now, that it draws a bigger demand to the people, then it’s a good proof that bitcoin has been successful all throughout its existence.

However, we can’t deny that people draws near to bitcoin to fulfill their ultimate goal, to earn and get rich in the process. But bitcoin is more than that, and we can only tell the impact made by bitcoin if you have been dealing with bitcoin for quite long years.

Bitcoin is like gold but without the flaws of gold. It is still more volatile than gold but that is to be expected
for a brand new asset class that is only 15 years old versus gold's 5,000 year history.
As bitcoin becomes more widely adopted and accepted over time the volatility will decrease.

But with bitcoin's greater volatility also comes a much greater potential upside than gold.
I believe it would be wise for people to have both bitcoin and gold as prominent holdings in their portfolio.
Not as a means of short-term speculation but as a long-term solution to help preserve and grow your wealth.

I don't know why some people think it is somehow "being greedy" to want to preserve your wealth and purchasing power
in the face of unprecedented economic turmoil, massive inflation and currency devaluation.

Like Larry Fink said, Bitcoin is a flight to quality. What he is really saying is, bitcoin is an escape valve from the corruption
of big government and big business. As a Nobel economist famously said over 40 years ago,

Quote
"I don't believe we shall ever have a good money again before we take the thing out of the hands of government.
Since we can't take it from them violently, all we can do is by some sly roundabout way introduce something they can't stop.”

- F.A. Hayek 1984

It's pretty amazing how he predicted the rise of bitcoin long before it existed.

Bitcoin is a technology. As to what this technology represents or promotes, that's very the reason why it took off successfully. It's not about its monetary value. Bitcoin already made a name among early believers even before a fiat equivalent was assigned to its native currency.

I think it's decentralization that made Bitcoin truly successful. Prior to Bitcoin, there's no decentralized cash system.

Furthermore, I guess the reason why decentralization is so precious is that we're so fed up with failed trust, abused power, unstable rules, concentrated authority, and the like. Bitcoin is emancipation. Bitcoin is independence. I think these are the central driving factors of Bitcoin's success and interest.

I understand that the most obvious answer right now is money. However, this is not just about money and technology. Bitcoin serves as a laboratory to explore ethical, social, and philosophical questions about the future of money, power, and freedom.
Bitcoin is not able to solve all problems in human societies from governmental to national and global scales. I love Bitcoin and would like to see it gains more success in future as a Bitcoin user and investor, but as said, amplify its capacity does not change a fact about it and what it can solve.

Can humanity genuinely move towards systems that eliminate traditional hierarchies?
Just partially but not completely, and in all societies, there are different classes with totally different mindsets that decide their thinking, action and consequent success or failure. Bitcoin can not completely change mindset of all the poor people so that not all the poor will become the middle class or the rich.

Ethical and environmental issues also fuel debates about the extent to which Bitcoin’s energy consumption is justified by the freedom it provides.
Environmental issues are kind of fud used to attack Bitcoin. It can be debunked easily by actual data and you can read the following topic and some reports.

Debunking the "Bitcoin is an environmental disaster" argument.

Ethical issues to be solved by Bitcoin, is too much exaggeration and ampification, I disagree.

The digital scarcity introduced by Bitcoin, with its finite limit of 21 million coins, touches on how we value things in an era where digital content is infinitely reproducible.
Digital content?

Do you mean about shit BRC20 tokens or Inscriptions with no value?
