Is the era of Telegram finally over ?

A funny incident happened to me today, while i was doing my daily routine check on the exchanges i use, i mainly use Binance and Bitget and read across the forums of both everyday. And while doing so today, i came across a BGB giveaway  for those who joined the telegram community and i literally just rushed over to Telegram without reading the rest that states “for new users only” lol.

I literally laughed when I found out about it but it got me thinking about how I totally forgot telegram because it’s been months since I opened the app or use it at all. Following the hype around it last year, i never could have thought i would stop using it at a point. I’m curious tho, do you still telegram ?

I think it has been silent for sometime which means either they are not paying much or just scam.

Getting all sorts of news notification update from verified sources I use telegram. It's easy to use no forcefully ads. If you compare it with X you will find that in twitter getting scammed is easy if you're not aware of which X handle is real deal. A lot of persone can impersonate.

I remember last year when the solana ido was in peak hype , scammer were just put their addresses after the official tweet, almost similiar name and username also a verified badge and that scammer grabed thousands of dollar in an instant.

Every platform has its pros and cons. It's up to you how you're using it and if it works fine then let it be

Yeah exactly the fame was a result of those projects, I wonder what the app would have in store for it users along the lines. Whatsapp and X does it all for me.

Yep I totally ignore telegram channels for crypto and bounty campaigns but I'm still using my telegram. The chat app is still being used because  newbies are still asking for support.

My offline friends are on telegram. We talk a lot in there just to get out of social media. Its not a perfect chat app but there is more to it because my friends are also there which we have chat group.

Yes I still use telegram because of BitcoinTalk bot, it you don't have the BitcoinTalk notifier bot I think you should have it. Telegram has recorded a lot of scam stories and I'm always careful with the notification I get from random groups crypto channels there, giveaway for newbies on telegram is one of the tactics scammers use to lure people in. I don't really like telegram that much even when it was on fire last year during the tapping era. Lol, I prefer using Whatsapp or X.

This is how it is in the crypto space; nothing lasts for long. Any new era that appears on the crypto based on hype and new projects are launched through it, within a short time, the era will be over. People will let go of them and move to the next one.

With those projects that were launched on telegram, people no longer remember that there was a time when they were into telegram mining, tapping around the clock without stopping, hoping for huge pay towards the end of their engagement with telegram mining

My telegram is still very active, in fact am always on my telegram, because I have other things am doing, and telegram is involved. I don’t think telegram era is over, you might not be making use of telegram, but am sure other other are making use of its, and lots of forum members will be making use of it if the activate telegram bitcointalk notifier.

I know telegram traffic will have dropped, since the era of telegram airdrop has ended, and lots of people that joined telegram few months ago joined because of airdrop, but no one even care about all those airdrops again, since most of them are now scam, so lots of people are no longer interested in telegram, but people are still making use of telegram.

If you mean the end of the era where projects all use Telegram to shill their coins and ask people to join and post to earn tokens, then it's probably over.

But Telegram is still a great way to communicate. When I need to talk to a forum user I use telegram, and a few members use my telegram bot to keep track of what's happening on the forum and our conversations, etc... can't see that ending, specially because bots work very well over there.

Don't judge based on your Telegram preferences. You are not a representative user of Telegram, because you would know that the hype around it has lasted for several years, not only since you have been using it.
Telegram lost a lot of trust when they changed the rules and decided (publicly confirmed) that they would cooperate with the competent authorities and share information about users with them.
SimpleX is slowly emerging as an alternative, although it is much more complicated to use, which is not attractive to a wide range of users.

So we are expected to believe it's just a coincidence that in (almost) every topic you open there is something about either Bitget or some shitcoin that is listed there?

This tactic may pass on Twitter/Reddit, but people here are too experienced to fall for it and will call you out, like it happened now.

Am getting lots of notifications from the forum through my telegram app, so my telegram is active. Honestly, two things made me sign in to telegram, one is the Bitcointalk forum and the other is hamster Kombat airdrop. However I cashout on the airdrop but since they have listed it I don't usually open my telegram for other things except the forum because IMO the telegram is a place where lot of scammers are. I have seen posts that's people usually get scammed through telegram, so for me to be on the safe path, I don't respond to chats in telegram except the notifications I get from this forum, still don't respond to all notifications I get from the forum too.

It's full of scammers, and that's why it's no use with that anymore. But for some contacts personally, it's still a good platform for messaging when other messaging apps are interrupted. But the hype was real last year when many have been farming airdrops and they're all using telegram for it. I'm sure that there were a lot of you people that even have bought the stars or whatever in-app purchase that you can use to sending money to the project to have more points and eligibility whenever the TGE is near.

To me, Telegram hasn't been very plain in their modus operandi and that's one why I keep it closed or offline many times.
I still think however that it has a potential of being better if managed by someone with a better vision than money, because with the scam projects and just about any Tom, Dick or Harry posting ads and using it as a launch pad for their projects, it looks to me that the current management of Telegram may be more than willing to release the platform to a worthy owner with a better vision for it.

You forgot to use your telegram account for a period of one month, does that mean that the era of telegram is over? Before you come up with some kind of topics, you really need to do research about it and not present yourself as a fool.

As of July 2024, Telegram had 950 million active users around the globe, having multiplied its audience tenfold since December 2014.

In 2025, they said they now have 1 billion active users and I think this completely answer your question. Even if only 20% forum members are using telegram, there are millions of active telegram users outside this forum.

Telegram is one of the top 5 most downloaded apps in the world with over 1 billion active users.

The feedback didn't say it's an alt account. It said it's an account used in shilling.
When the telegram meme coins were reigning and many people were tapping, I knew the trend would not last. I didn't engage in that would not even if it was going to pay. I expected it to fade away but it did so hastily more than as I expected.

It's used for communication in the first hand, so if there's nothing for you to send a message there doesn't mean it's useless and the era of telegram is over for others. It's where most crypto projects have huge community over there and channels where news and updates are posted there as well. As long as there's no efficient alternative on telegram people will still use it.
